  1. If you want it to auto load .torrent files from a specific folder you will need to edit the settings.json file, as the option is not available in the GUI like it is in uTorrent. It's in the transmission wiki on its website, but let me check mine and ill copy it in here.... *EDIT* - "watch-dir": "wherever you want it, mine is set to /mnt/user/Dropbox/Transmission", "watch-dir-enabled": true "watch-dir": "/mnt/user/Dropbox/Transmission", "watch-dir-enabled": true For the download folder //downloads is the default location but doesn't work with unraid. You will need to change that to one of your shares. For example I have a torrent share and so I point transmission to /mnt/user/Torrents Data directory is where transmission installs itself, he is my configuration:
  2. can i just confirm the following before i undertake setting up iTunes server: the plugin fields are as follows: music directory = my share that i create to house the music folders? ie /mnt/user/Music server name = the name given to the itunes server that will show up on client iTunes? i.e. "Dad's Music" (always %h name?) Database location = the directory for the actual iTunes server files? ie /mnt/cache/apps/iTunesServer Logging level - keep as logging? Run as user = keep as daapd? on all my other plugins they use "nobody". is that not recommended here? Also, on last thing. I already have a fully organised itunes that i'd like to migrate over and use. Is there a way to point to the correct file (itunes library.itl, itunes music library.xml) and for it to populate all artwork, playlists etc? I may not have the correct expectations of what an itunes server actually does. In my mind i think it would replace my current library on my computer and that using the same itunes client i could browse my music like a shared library? thanks *EDIT* Well i've gone on my assumptions and it seems to work on the one album i've added. I've noticed that the album artwork doesn't show up, is that normal? Also it looks as though the remote app on iOS isn't supported? is there anything specific i need to do? finally, it doesn;t seem to replace itunes as i need to have that running to be able to use it over airplay. So i dont think this is what i thought it was....oh well (out of interest what would one use this for? what is it's intended purpose?) http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub-General/iTunes-Server-Capabilities/td-p/112312 seems to confirm a few things

  4. thanks fore response. How do i run a smart report? i don't see an option in preclear_disk and because the drive isn't part of the array i cannot run a test using the webgui.
  5. Hi, Just attempted to preclear a second wd red 3tb before i went on holiday 5 days ago and i've come back to what appears to be stuck at 0% simplefeatures says: Preclear in progress... Pre-Read. 0% @ 136 MB/s (0:03:13) When i remote into the server the screen shows what is in the attachment, so it's doing something. I don't even know to to begin searching to see if someone has had this before, but i'll have a look now around the forums. is the drive DOA? EDIT* no mention of the drive in /boot/preclear reports. I can see start, report and finish files for the 1st hdd i did, but nothing for this new drive. syslog is massive 2.5GB and states over and over: Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Unhandled error code Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: sd 0:0:3:0: [sdg] CDB: cdb[0]=0x88: 88 00 00 00 00 01 5d 50 73 30 00 00 00 08 00 00 Mar 21 04:43:45 Ruby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 5860520752

  7. i have to throw some weight towards this as I too get this issue. It's when i'm using SF heavily. I have a fresh restart log and i'm waiting for it to crash and i'll post both. Been up for 1day so far, but i haven't been at home to open anything other than the main page to check on a parity check. Things i have observed: 1) It's only the webgui, all other plugins work, ie i can browse using their port number. I can also telnet to it and all shares are up. 2) emhttp doesn't crash: root@Ruby:/var/log# ps aux | grep emhttp | grep -v grep root 29295 0.0 0.0 12084 1648 ? Sl 10:37 0:42 /usr/local/sbin/emhttp 3) There are no out of memory or segfault errors in my log. I have 8GB RAM: root@Ruby:/var/log# free -l total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 8282388 7799584 482804 0 111972 7410088 Low: 835316 555876 279440 High: 7447072 7243708 203364 -/+ buffers/cache: 277524 8004864 Swap: 0 0 0 4) List open files shows: NOTE: 192.168.0.13 is my laptop, but connection to that was terminated. root@Ruby:/var/log# lsof -i -n -P emhttp 29295 root 3u IPv4 38879 0t0 TCP *:80 (LISTEN) emhttp 29295 root 5u IPv4 252224 0t0 TCP 192.168.0.3:80->192.168.0.13:50417 (ESTABLISHED) 5) Netstat shows: root@Ruby:/var/log# netstat Active Internet connections (w/o servers) Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:51786 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.:microsoft-ds 192.168.0.4:52214 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:54082 sjc-not8.sjc.dropb:http ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:64446 ks353317.kimsufi.:36767 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:49929 ESTABLISHED tcp 546 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:51465 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60207 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 729 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60311 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 730 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60310 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.25:63392 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:50417 ESTABLISHED tcp 1 0 192.168.0.3:39001 transmissionbt.com:http CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:64446 S010600236983b44a:56099 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 143 192.168.0.3:40001 141.101.117.36:http ESTABLISHED tcp 0 162 192.168.0.3:telnet 192.168.0.4:52174 ESTABLISHED tcp 693 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60211 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60210 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 693 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60208 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:48409 051-184-045-062.d:47009 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:53367 1606ds5-van.0.full:7600 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58287 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58288 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:58289 192.168.0.12:8888 ESTABLISHED tcp 1 0 Ruby:37904 Ruby:57512 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 406 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:50507 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 551 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60209 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 546 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.13:51342 CLOSE_WAIT tcp 0 0 192.168.0.3:8003 192.168.0.13:53352 ESTABLISHED tcp 694 0 192.168.0.3:http 192.168.0.4:60212 CLOSE_WAIT udp 0 0 192.168.0.3:42538 192.168.0.1:5351 ESTABLISHED 6) I only tried 2 browsers, safari on Desktop and Safari on iOS <- can try others if/when it crashes again. 7) It requires a reboot from within telnet to bring it back.   8. I think i may be getting somewhere, i just noticed those errors are attributed to /mnt/user0/apps/xxx, where as i'm now using /plugins....i can see there is a new entry in log, which appears as though it's working: Mar 3 10:05:35 Ruby logger: mover started Mar 3 10:05:35 Ruby logger: skipping Plugins/ Mar 3 10:05:35 Ruby logger: moving apps/ a corrupt share perhaps? i'll remove it completely, as not needed anyway. *EDIT* well i've cracked it and i'd like to thank everyone involved for your inputs. A great little community here. It wasn't just one thing, but many. On a side note, using the x9scm-f mobo with IPMI has helped immensely, so i recommend that board to anyone.
  9. I do not understand what Limetech's definition of "burn in" is, but i do know it writes the drive to all 0s, which is what i want it to do to eliminate it being a possibility in my issue of the mover running out of space. I still have the issue, but it seems the mover starts alright, but then runs out of space. What space is it running out of, ie what temp space does it use to move the files? not flash surely? left on my flash is 3.7GB. Ultimately this is a side issue because i have set my "apps" (and now created a new share called plugins, to test) to "cache only" and shouldn't be part of the mover script. Like automatic pointed out his mover does this: Mar 2 09:00:01 Tower logger: mover started Mar 2 09:00:01 Tower logger: skipping Appdata/ Mar 2 09:00:01 Tower logger: mover finished Where as my mover doesn't. I've taken out all the non pertinent info in my log file and managed to get it under the limit, so please see attached. Searching the web it appears to use /tmp, if i du -h that i get: root@Ruby:/tmp# du -h 0 ./notifications/unread 0 ./notifications 4.0K ./web 0 ./.X11-unix 0 ./.ICE-unix Where is /tmp located? on which drive? Could it be that it's reporting empty, when in actual fact it's not? Is there any way to low level format it in unraid? EDIT* Just noticed preclear as a sticky, will give that a go

  12. i've gone for a full reboot and parity check, have to wait 7 hours now. didn't check tmp before reboot but now it empty, so i'll run file mover after that. I have rebooted previously, so i don't think this is the issue.
  13. I also tried running the mover again manually and it gets the same errors: failed: No space left on device (28) and the share still says it has pending cache. Is there something wrong with the share? is it worth recreating it? I stopped the array and removed the cache drive from the assigned disks, started it up and then did the same to re-add it and i still get those errors. dropbox this time: 2 12:37:26 Ruby logger: cd+++++++++ apps/DropboxDB/ Mar 2 12:37:26 Ruby logger: rsync: recv_generator: mkdir "/mnt/user0/apps/DropboxDB" failed: No space left on device (28) Mar 2 12:37:26 Ruby logger: *** Skipping any contents from this failed directory *** Mar 2 12:37:26 Ruby logger: rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code 23) at main.c(1042) [sender=3.0.7] Mar 2 12:37:26 Ruby logger: mover finished Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby emhttp: shcmd (438): /usr/local/sbin/set_ncq sdb 1 &> /dev/null Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby emhttp: shcmd (439): /usr/local/sbin/set_ncq sda 1 &> /dev/null Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby emhttp: shcmd (440): /usr/local/sbin/set_ncq sde 1 &> /dev/null Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby emhttp: shcmd (441): /usr/local/sbin/set_ncq sdd 1 &> /dev/null Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (35): set md_num_stripes 1280 Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (36): set md_write_limit 768 Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (37): set md_sync_window 384 Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (38): set spinup_group 0 0 Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (39): set spinup_group 1 0 Mar 2 12:38:07 Ruby kernel: mdcmd (40): set spinup_group 2 0 I know there is enough space on the drive as it's 500GB, which webgui shows as 500GB free

  15. checked my server this morning and my 4 plugins aren't working. If i look under settings i can see that they are all in a "stopped" status. I then check the data directories and they are all missing crucial files. each plugin says "install" as the option and this obviously will put the config files back in but loses all my customisation. The only thing i can think of is the mover running and doing something i don't want it to do/or i don't understand the principle of how to set things up. So my question is...what is the way to install and have them persistent? I have all plugins installed to /mnt/cache/apps/... It manually created a share called apps and it's set to use cache "only" mover runs 03:40 each day as per default. I also notice that with simpleFeatures the shares with cache are all still in a pending state for a couple of days now. I've not used cache drive before. Can someone please give me their example of how they would set this all up? Thanks
  16. Not used it, but:- https://github.com/clinton-hall/nzbToMedia I believe that might, never tested it though. Oh, and I believe it's made by the same guy who made couchpotato. Hi, thanks for the link! I have no idea what im doing here, but the instructions says: General Put all files in a directory wherever you want to keep them (eg. /scripts/ in the home directory of your nzb client) and change the permission accordingly so the nzb client can access these files. nzbToSickBeard Rename the file autoProcessMedia.cfg.sample to autoProcessMedia.cfg and fill in the appropriate fields in [sickBeard] as they apply to your installation. Does this mean, simply to put autoProcessMedia.cfg in /mnt/cache/apps/sickbeard (my sickbeard data directory) and then amend the parameters in the sickbeard gui? How do i know it's running? i see no other parameters to choose to manipulate autoProcessMedia.cfg
  17. sorry to hijack your thread but it's related I have sickbeard and transmission set up and working fine, but it's the post processing that is an issue. I download more that just tv shows, but obviously only want sickbeard to process what it downloads, but it only uses the blackhole method. Is there a way/program/script i can run that could differentiate a tvshow from the general torrents in the download folder and move it to a seperate tv folder that sickbeard watches. Then once it's processed it will delete the duplicate. I need to keep the original files for seeding, so the delete right after processing isn't an option. At the moment i use the "Scan and post-process any files in your TV Download Dir?" option in sickebeard.
  18. Hi Automatic. We basically have the same needs and are pretty much going to be buying the same thing. I see in one of your replies you talk about delivery in UK, so I'm assuming you're from the UK, where is the place to get this stuff? Have you any UK links? Cheers
  19. Sorry for the late reply, but thank you for your comments, i appreciate them greatly. On your advice i've gone ahead and gone the X9SCM-F-O + xeon route...Looking forward to building it now. Cheers
  20. What is your budget? Happy to pay what is required. I do not want to spend the money in the wrong area, ie getting a motherboard with thx hometheatre 7.1 HD audio on it, but will get what is needed to do the job properly. How many drives? Ultimately 20ish, i currently have 6x2TB drives. I am going to buy 3TB WD Red drives and an SSD for cache. (1) Is a WD 3TB Red good for a parity drive? Are you interested in running any unRAID Add Ons? This will be a homeserver to replace my windows home server. It will need to run plex @1080p, utorrent/transmission constantly, dropbox, sickbeard and i suppose anything media related that may pop up in the future. Do you want to run green/low power drives or faster 7200 rpm drives? Whatever gets the job done, (2) will WD Red be ok? I'm thinking a 128/256 SSD (3) is this overkill? for cache as the files will be pretty static once they get into plex folders Do you have any spare parts laying around that you would like to apply towards your build? Clean build, except those drives, which are a mixture WD and Seagate. So with that all in my mind, i am looking to build it on a core i3 1155 setup. My questions really are around the MB/CPU.... I see a lot of people use SuperMicro x9scm-f but at £180 i'm finding it hard to justify it. (4) Is there a particular benefit to this board?, i do like the idea of IPMI as it will be headless in my closet but i won't be using dual NIC and ECC Ram is more reliable?. Other issues are that i need bios V2 to support latest core i3 and won't have access to another CPU to update the bios. (5) Will a regular desktop Mobo do? I'm a bit out the loop on intel and their myriad of chipset, but the H77 seems to be the most sensible. The SuperMicro x9scm-f doesn't offer me much in the way of upgrading the CPU to say an i5 at a later date, hence leaning towards a desktop board from asus. (6) Will an i3 be sufficient? I will obviously need a sata card extender, looking at the pinned thread those 8 port SAS cards seem to do the trick. The HDDs will not be hot-swappable, but will sit in 4-3 cages. I will buy 2 and then use the Mobo ports for the parity and cache drives i was thinking. (7) Is 8 port a bottleneck and best to get 4x 4 port cards? The mobos have PCIe v3 x 16 slots. The case will be a xigmatek elysium http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=122 and i'll buy a decent singe 12v rail PSU (8.) Does that all seem as though it's going in the right direction? Anything obviously wrong here? 8 answers to my questions to get me on the right track, would be appreciated muchly. Thanks for your input.
