  1. yup swapped sata and power cables, even tried a new sata port on the mobo. I ordered a replacement. Thanks!
  2. Tried to add it back into the array but the data rebuild failed. I also tried to plug the disk into a different sata port on the mobo when i swapped out the cables. tower-diagnostics-20251008-1507.zip
  3. The extended SMART ran last night I think its clean... tower-smart-20251008-0815.zip but I'm not sure. The self test history runs all say "Completed without error" but the attributes tab on the disk has an elevated reallocated sector count: Does this mean that the disk is on the way out?
  4. I powered it off and switched the power and sata cables. Its running an extended test now, but here is the short self test results: tower-smart-20251007-2341.zip
  5. Thanks for the help! tower-diagnostics-20251007-1116.zip
  6. Looks like I have had my first disk fail. I got this alert yesterday Subject: Alert [TOWER] - Disk 8 in error state (disk dsbl) Description: Hitachi_HUS724030ALE641_P8G50X2P (sdc) Importance: alert I've tried to run a SMART test in the webapp but the test doesn't run and when i download the logs i get this: smartctl 7.4 2023-08-01 r5530 [x86_64-linux-6.1.106-Unraid] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-23, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org Smartctl open device: /dev/sdc failed: No such device What are my next steps?
  7. that sounds exactly like what I'm looking at. I haven't come across something with those specs yet. I just upgraded my mobo, cpu, ram, psu and found all the media automation apps that are available in docker. Now I'm burning through disk space like never before. I'm overflowing my Meshify 2 case. I'm debating on going with the meshify 2 xl or just going rack mount 24 bay.
  8. Ok sounds good I'll probably go the lsi hba cars route and pick one up from the art of server on ebay
  9. Hello, I just built a new server and with that discovered some automation tools that I didn't even knew existed 6 months ago. Long story short I'm burning through more storage than I've anticipated and will need a way to expand past my mobo's 8 sata ports. I've read about using a HBA card flashed to IT mode. I'll probably end up going that route with something from ebay... But I came across this in newegg. https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-00SW-00030?item=9SIAMKHJRZ6973&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googlemkp-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googlemkp-pc-_-pla-glotrends-_-add-on+cards-_-9SIAMKHJRZ6973&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid+shopping&utm_campaign=knc-googlemkp-pc-_-pla-glotrends-_-add-on+cards-_-9SIAMKHJRZ6973&id0=Google&id1=17926835888&id2=153909840911&id3=&id4=&id5=pla-2129239786725&id6=&id7=9019795&id8=&id9=g&id10=c&id11=&id12=CjwKCAjwyNSoBhA9EiwA5aYlb0n8QsKHS71IMUjy_XkjEpxmLNgn11WIUxWf-lTTceFLn-nIqu1KiBoC6DsQAvD_BwE&id13=&id14=Y&id15=&id16=664915854147&id17=&id18=&id19=&id20=&id21=pla&id22=147550576&id23=online&id24=9SIAMKHJRZ6973&id25=US&id26=2129239786725&id27=Y&id28=&id29=&id30=12149498352225981873&id31=en&id32=&id33=DA&id34=US&gclid=CjwKCAjwyNSoBhA9EiwA5aYlb0n8QsKHS71IMUjy_XkjEpxmLNgn11WIUxWf-lTTceFLn-nIqu1KiBoC6DsQAvD_BwE 16 sata connections from a PCIe 3.0 x 1 slot? I see that it says I can't read from all 16 ports at 6Gbps because of the speed limitations on the PCIe 3.0 x1 slot. Is that why most people favor an HBA over a sata adapter card like this? Here is my mobo: https://pg.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z790 PG Riptide/index.asp Thanks!
  10. Just wanted to close the loop on this. I've been up on new hardware for about a week now. No issues. I was able to swamp out the drives and reformat to xfs without loosing any data. I'm using one of the drives that kept getting errors on the old hardware. I think it must have been my controller or something on the old system but not the disks themselves. The new hardware is running so much quitter than my old system and seems to draw less than 1/2 the power. Pretty happy with unraid on the new hardware. Thanks for the help before.
  11. Thanks, backed up the flash, deleted the Music.cfg file and unraid recreated it.
  12. Hello, Just discovered this "Fix Common Issues" app and ran it. It reported this: So I've attached my diagnostics. Is there something I should do to address this? Thanks! tower-diagnostics-20230901-1105.zip
  13. Hello, I'm going through the process of reformatting my array disks off of reiserfs. I'm watching some tutorials and I came across this video where space invader is able to select and delete share folders directly in the unraid web gui. I don't have those options when I browse my share contents. How do I enable this functionality?
  14. I tried to check the server again this AM and now it's not seeing another 3 drives. I checked in the bios and the bios isn't seeing the missing drives either so I think maybe this is a flaky sata controller. I ordered the parts on my list, can't wait to get my new system built.
  15. Sounds good. Any feedback on the wish list? https://newegg.io/00a2a3d I want something that is a little future proof as I don't update hardware frequently ;). I'd like to run a few containers (vpn / torrenting and try streaming 4k with plex). I'd like the potential of running a VM in the future if need be. Anything stick out with that wish list?
