Hi everyone.
I definitely need help but I'm sick and may be slower to respond. I'm Currently on unraid 6.12.13. My setup has 2 parity disks and 11 data disks. A few days ago, Parity disk 1 (ST16000NE000-3UN101_ZVTEF25Z - 16 TB) was disabled with a few (unknown to me) errors and Data disk 6 (TOSHIBA_DT01ACA300_Z56P0UWGS - 3TB) started having reallocated sector errors. All of this around the time of the last scheduled parity check. I had a spare drive plugged in and unused (WDC_WD40EZRZ-22GXCB0_WD-WCC7K5EX8FEV - 4TB) so I decided to replace and rebuild data disk 6. Here's what happened next.
- I confirmed my important items were backed up elsewhere.
- I downloaded the diagnostics before shutting down.
- I stopped the array, unassigned disk 6, and then shut down the array.
- I physically removed disk 6 from the array.
- I powered back on and once logged into unraid I saw that disk 11 (WDC_WD30EFRX-68EUZN0_WD-WMC4N1894469 - 3 TB) had become "missing"
- There were no clear signs of the drive failing before shutting down and I did not touch it while inside the case however thinking I might have moved something out of place while in there I shutdown again and reseated the power/data cables.
- Reseating the cables did not help, I then went through several variations of different power/data cables to no avail.
- I then placed disk 11 in an external dock, connected it to unraid and was able to get the disk to be seen again and assigned.
- Disk 6 is "missing" since it was removed from the array. Disk 11 is seen but cannot be mounted or read.
- The last smart report for disk 11 seems good but I do hear clicking coming from the drive. It might have been on its way out but the noise was masked by the other drives.
- My current situation is Parity disk 1 is disabled for unknown reasons, data disk 6 is physically out of the array, data disk 11 is in the array but shows as unmountable. I'm adding a screenshot for the visual ones out there (like me)
My question - Is there any way to save this?
My thoughts - Could I somehow enable the parity disk again and rebuild one of the data disks? I'm not clear why one of my parity drives was disabled either. The only issue I see is a high Raw Read Error value but I've never been too concerned with that stat when monitoring drives.
