What is the manual command to spindown HDD on stopped array ? I want to preclear new HDD first before using it as replacement. (I prefer not to run/start array with missing HDD)

Just got notice about offline "current pending sector" on my old 6 years WD Green EARS (but only 2 months total runtime). SMART Raw read error rate = 2 and current pending sector = 1. I did extended SMART test twice, the number still the same. Is it a false positive ?

I got offline "Current pending sector" and "raw read error rate" error on one of my drive. Extended SMART test = success. and Current pending sector still 1 and raw read error rate still 2. I was thinking of doing 2 cycles of pre-read with preclear Is it possible to do pre-read test only with plugins ? or I need to do it manually using terminal ?

which script is the newest.?. it's been a while since I use preclear command version.

edit: my own mistake, I did install iperf manually before. removing and let nerdpack install again fix everything

If I add 2 new drive is it wise/faster to do rsync (with screen) from 2 drive into 2 new drive, or do it one by one ?

I just notice that one of my 4TB WD RED (few years old) has different size It's the one that I paid $70 cheaper (It's already $20 cheaper than other local shop and I won $50 voucher for that shop) normal WD RED = 4,000,787,030,016 suspected OEM WD RED = 4,000,000,000,512 First thing I check is HPA = disabled. already preclear 2 times and no error. and I already filled half with no error. I also asked on other forum and someone suggest to do DCO reset, but I heard it's dangerous and can render drive unusable. according to wd warranty page "out of region", Is it OEM drive ? drive from WDC NAS ?

I did firmware update 3.0 no idea if there is newer version, after toshiba take over they remove ocz vector from legacy page (I can only find vector 150 and vector 180) and there's no problem with the ssd until few weeks ago.

I have old OCZ vector ssd (3 years+ old, 13TB write) The problem : - randomly through the week I get windows drive repair error. (I use clean windows install to make sure no virus) reboot, repair and the I get bunch of found.000 found.001 ... folders and it randomly get error again through the week. I never encounter that problem before. I did try with samsung 850 (cable, mobo work fine) also no problem. What I did to test ocz ssd. - secure erase => windows full format => success no pending sector/bad block - HD sentinel write and verify 2 times => success no pending sector/bad block - preclear 1 times => success Throw the OCZ ssd or can I use it for unraid cache ?

almost 60C .. is there a option/plugins to shutdown if HDD temperature above certain limit ?

Thank you Any guide on how to read the HDD worst temperature SMART ? the one with 53C showing 94 in the SMART.

my 4 HDD in 3 bay fan died, and I didn't notice it until all 4 HDD temperature are 50-53C (I'm not at home) smart still showing "PASSED", parity check is normal. 4 HDD are WDC green and they usually maxed 39C. Do I need worry ?
