Accidentally ran rm on root and reformatted usb without config
I don't have anything in /mnt that is the first place I checked and it doesn't show anything. quite a few files were pulled from "/" The main dir that killed me was the /bin which removed my access to any commands to troubleshoot. as I am booted from RAM how do I access my /boot files to put them on the usb? is what I am confused about.

you want me to move it or copy it? I am very confused about where I am navigating here. I realize i have booted from the usb, but which files from which drive am I looking at when I "ls /boot" Why can't I just mount the old data drive and move the files to that from the usb where I moved them?

I moved them to a usb drive. I still have all of the files that I moved. just don't know how to get them back to their rightful place.

here is no Tools -> New Config "create a new array configuration". Only "Preserve current assignments" I very much appreciate you sticking through this with me and taking the time.

seems like support fixed it for me. so moving forward on those instructions. Only hiccup is there is no Tools -> New Config "create a new array configuration". Only "Preserve current assignments"

yes same flash drive. Shows the same id. I sent email to support. now wait. I needed to move files quickly. wasn't paying attention and was very stupid trying to grab environment var. Yes. You are correct. I am out of my comfort zone but trying. I hope this mistake doesn't become devastatingly painful and hopefully turns out to be a lessons learned.

I have the license key (numeric characters) but the file was not among the files that I restored. no. I attempted to enter my key but it says its already in use and to contact support. If I start the trial can I fix my key later?

Ok so I set passwd for the root and am now in with the prompt to redeem activation code. I can't redeem my key without out contacting support now. This is a disaster.

it doesn't accept new password. i.e. I enter both fields and click set password but nothing happens.

I can recover some of the config files but the shares directory is not there. I can't believe I am so stupid. trying to boot now. If I am prompted with new root user do I create one?

Accidentally ran rm on root and reformatted usb without config
I am not sure how to proceed after reading this. Do I need to continue with new usb and create a new root password to continue or do I try to recover my config files off the usb and try to use them before starting over. I am afraid to make changes as described where I make another mistake and lose the data on my drives. I only have 1 drive + 1 parity, and 1 ssd + 1 parity.

Accidentally ran rm on root and reformatted usb without config
I am in a panic and have been sweating it for 3 hours now. I was cleaning files and accidentally ran the following mv ${pwd}/* -T to-external-location and it moved all files at the root (/). I then proceeded to boot off the usb which it did not. tried to troubleshoot and was prompted with new usb creator update of which I ran and created a new usb drive. Am I completely F**kd? please someone with some kind of head on your shoulders please help. I have the files that I moved but can't seem to transfer them after booting from new usb. Also I can connect to Unraid running off the usb but it is asking for new password and I am freaked out that I will lose everything. I do see a metadata.0.config in my trash bin. but not sure if that is useful. please someone throw me a line.
