Figured it out. I had to enable Use Host I/O Cache under controller: SATA in Virtualbox HBA card i bought https://www.ebay.com/itm/125443426997 2x 18TB Seagate However but i am unable to format the HDD which I passed thru from the HBA controller. Every time I try to format it it says. I can format the other hard drive. Its brand new and I tested it. Its health and has no errors.

Hi, I am using the following card and it is in IT Mode. Bought it from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/125443426997 Inspur LSI SAS3008-i 8-Port 12Gb PCIe 3.0 SATA/SAS HBA IT Mode I am able to format HDD if they are connected to the motherboard SATA ports. I am using Unraid in VirtualBox. I am able to passthrough the drives to the Unraid VM in VirtualBox but I cannot format the drives connected to the HBA card. I can see the drives but the format fails and it says unsupported format and unmountable. I am passing it thru as SATA drive in Virtualbox under Controller: SATA and I can format the drives. I tried to set it up through but then I am unable to see the drives in Unraid. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Do I need to update the firmware. Not sure what version it is right now and where to find the latest FW version either.

Hi, Formating error: 18 TB HDD on SAS3 3008 Card in Virtual Box I have passed through a 18 TB Seagate drive in Virtual Box. When I try to format it I am getting unsupported format. The SAS3 3008 card is in IT mode. I am using only one drive for now for testing. Since it is a single drive could this be the reason why it is not working?

Thanks. I tried to find the recommended size for UnraidVM.vhd. I have it set to 2 GB as I created the iso from the usb stick. Maybe it is to small.

Thank, Also when I try to format any drive the VM goes into pause in Virtualbox. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much. I will try VirtualBox. Do you have guide/tutorial how to set it up ? I am currently using TrueNAS I like but I miss the feature where I can miss and match or just add another drive to increase the space on the dataset. Thank you

Hi, I would like to use Unraid in Hyper-V on my Windows 1 1 Pro (Ryzen). The data is only for home use. I know it is not recommended but I would like to set it up as a VM. However, I was not able to install Unraid as VM in Hyper-V. Is this even possible? I heard about usb stick passthrough but I am unable to set any usb i have tried to set it the usb offline but the options is not available in computer management. Created iso from the usb with imgburn but the installation stops at labeled unraid device not found. I have also hba card which i would like to pass thru. I could not find on the net how to do that. Any help would be appreciated,

I know it is not ideal but Iam unable to install Unraid on Hyper-V. I would like passthrough the drives and get home server setup. Nothing important. I was not able to passthrough a usb stick. None of sticks I have tried can be put offline. Tried creating an iso from the USB drive and got it booted till this point: waiting up to 30 sec for device with label unraid to come online Is this even possible. I want to use my Windows 11 computer with Unraid on it. I do not want another case to be build as Unraid. I thought having everything in one would be great. Anyone can help and tell me how? Hi, I want also to set up Unraid as VM in Hyper-v mainly just as Plex music and picture server and home automation. So data is not very important. The important stuff will be backed up. Can you help me how to convert the unraid usb into vhdx. How did you do that? I want to get this right the first time. I am trying to achieve that I was not successful at all. Thanks
