Fastest NIC Pcie 3.0 x8 slot can support? is it this card? Intel XL710-BM2 40G Dual-Port QSFP+, PCIe 3.0 x 8
Actually im looking at a 10gb card with 4 ports https://www.amazon.co.uk/Network-X710-DA4-XL710-AM1-Chipset-Ethernet/dp/B07WFC25PT/ref=sr_1_1?crid=IVQ25VY7C6F0&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.hvtsIEoZB8_GmgDk7vpPieS8cb9hp3opUNXVlnuBfnDGBKgt7_TarKxft0FtejdRaSREbiNBYaAh36WjqKGZqdpR3HTF9a9oT6rPHPiPvHH5WRd2itY6l7G2hMeBXZYa.MX3r8R_DPtWerBbmDc4l9MtWtQHxpn9ub2HXUgz-FrI&dib_tag=se&keywords=Intel%2BXL710-BM1&qid=1750026132&sprefix=intel%2Bxl710-bm1%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-1&th=1

yeah basically at the moment I have two clients that are limited by 10gbps and it would cost a lot to get those devices to 25gbe as they're Macs, however there is a window client that in future plan to upgrade to 25gbe but for now 10gbe is fine but that is the one thats currently one 1gbe so ideally if I had 4 ports going to the switch and each of those clients can pull 10gbe down to themselves each I will be happy for the time being

What do you think is the best I can expect with that current setup and I’ll look at getting a faster switch later but as I currently have this switch want to know what I can expect for now

I would like to know if this card can work and I have a 10g switch that supports link aggregation https://www.amazon.co.uk/8X10G-SFP-Multi-Gigabit-Managed-Aggregation/dp/B0DXPFB4QM?th=1 So I would like to know if I can run a 40gb Nic via breakout cables into this switch or would it be waste or would it be better to just get a card that has 4 10gb slots

Recommended controllers for Unraid
Hi everyone I have Broadcom 9400-8i card currently connected 8 drives in my system but I've seen this card HighPoint Rocket 720L 12G SAS/ 6G SATA PCIe 3.0 HBA Controller https://www.scan.co.uk/products/highpoint-rocket-720l-hba-controller-pcie-30-x8-16x-12gb-s-sas-6gb-s-sata-channels-4x-sff-8643-ports I feel like it fits the direction that I'd like to take my build more. For instance I would like to put that into a x4 slot that I have on my motherboard (x16 physical slot) to push most of my hdds to the x4 slot and focus my x8 slots on the fastest network card I can get and also putting a nvme card in the other one this is the nvme controller I want to use and the https://www.scan.co.uk/products/8-port-highpoint-rocket-1108a-nvme-card-8x-m2-nvme-ports-pcie-30-x16-2x-fans-intelligent-switch-chip

Thanks for your answers so far I just wanted to check if you had any idea what expanders work for nvme drives as I can’t find the required info in the documentation

Two 10gbe ports from unraid server to switch for more network bandwidth
Would this one work? https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-networking/managed-switch/tl-sx3008f/

LSI 9500 series 16i tri-mode PCIE 4.0 with Supermicro SAS3-826EL1-N4 backplane Unraid Support?
Ok so I would just get Intel® SAS3 Expander RES3TV360 and connect it to some other form of power and be good to go mount it safely on the case back panel and be ready to go. Can that also support any nvmes but with the right cables and while I'm at it I have two x1 slots in my motherboard and bought these for them https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08J2PK1HF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

LSI 9500 series 16i tri-mode PCIE 4.0 with Supermicro SAS3-826EL1-N4 backplane Unraid Support?
Thank you for this advice I'm going to look into these, I see one of them says it requires x8 slot but I've also heard that some expanders don't need to actually be connected to be physically connected to a pcie slot to work. I dont have any spare pcie slots at the moment and would need to remove my gpu to make space

Two 10gbe ports from unraid server to switch for more network bandwidth
I tried to connect directly to the computer before without that switch before and I'm not sure what I did wrong but couldn't get it working, however since my current switch won't support what I'm trying to do I guess I can't lose by adding all the ports into one bridge? Any advice on how I do that? I think the direct connection require certain settings on the computers whereas the switch kinda just works

Two 10gbe ports from unraid server to switch for more network bandwidth
I plan to get this network card with 2 10gbe ports https://www.misco.co.uk/product/Networking/Network-Adapters/StarTech-com/StarTech-com-2-Port-10Gbps-PCIe-Network-Adapter-Ca?prodid=8223728 I would like to connect it to this switch that I have https://www.scan.co.uk/products/5-port-tp-link-tl-sx105-10g-multi-gigabit-desktop-switch-5x-100-1g-25g-5g-10g-fanless-plug-and-play?_gl=1*lhgmxd*_ga*MTc2MTM3MTM5OC4xNzA1ODk5NDc3*_ga_8GFH5M08Q5*MTcwODYwNDI0OC41Ny4xLjE3MDg2MDQ2MzQuNjAuMC4w I would like to be able to run two lanes of 10gbe between the server and the switch to provide more bandwidth to the computers connected to the switch? Also one last bit to add, I have two 1gbe ports on my motherboard built in, would it be possible to use those as fail safes and the twin 10gbes as separate lanes to increase bandwidth
