COMPLETE TECHNICAL REPORT - VFIO GPU PASSTHROUGH FAILURE
@tschatscher I've since reverted to the older bios and the GPU passthrough working fine again. Just thought you should know.

COMPLETE TECHNICAL REPORT - VFIO GPU PASSTHROUGH FAILURE
Hello there, I've a fairly similar setup (X870e Carbon Wifi and 9950X3D). GPU passthrough was working well for me but I was on a fairly old bios (I believed its the A63 back in August 2025). I just upgraded to the latest A95 (March 2026) and it broke the GPU passthrough, I've two Nvidia GPUs in my Unraid server, where one is being passthru to an Ubuntu, and the other to a Windows 11. These are all working well till the latest Bios upgrade. You could try the A63 version to see if you manage to get it to work.

[Support] OpenRGB-GUI-Unraid Support Thread
works well on my Unraid which allow me to make RGB changes to the memory dimm, but I can't seems to have the MSI board-level change on the Dragon's lighting.... I've include the modprobe of i2c-dev and i2c-piix4 in the boot/config/go file Any other steps I missed in order to have the capability to make RGB changes for the board? Many thanks!

iGPU passthrough - black screen without VNC as primary
I reached a point that I can output iGPU of my Ryzen 9 using Ubuntu VM or Zorin Linux VM, but everytimes I uses a Windows VM (even with primary as iGPU), I didn't get any screen output to the monitor. Wonder if there's any guide that I can follow to make Windows 11 works on the iGPU, and any reason it works well on Linux/Ubuntu but not for Windows when it comes to the iGPU passthrough? Any guidance will be much appreciated

UDMA CRC Errors across multiple drives which caused drive to be disabled
I too battled through this stage with my NAS, only traced down to a specific slot that causing the issue, ended up it was a backplane issue rather than storage controller or SATA cables. Once the backplane replaced the counter stay static as is and not increasing.

Ideas / Advise for my 2nd Unraid Server (ZFS pool vs Array)
thanks @JorgeB , it makes sense. May be like most users i wouldn't have any other backup rather than hoping the Raidz2 with dual drive failure as the safety net. This statement got me thinking about the Array where individual drive data are still intact if catastrophic things happened. many thanks....while I think dual drives failure is not common or likely its very marginal risk, not sure if I'm ready for it if it happens. Will give it a hard think about it.

Ideas / Advise for my 2nd Unraid Server (ZFS pool vs Array)
Hi, I've one existing Unraid server with both Array (on spindle disk), and NVME pool, after running months on it, I realised how infrequent I am using the array as my NVME pool are large eough to withhold majority of my work. I'm thinking of downsizing my current unraid box to be just a small and powerful server running multiple test VM on its NVME pool, so its a relatively smaller and nicer case that I can have reason to work on :-) Now, only 2nd Unraid server, it''ll be very defined usage Cold or not as-hot storage requirement, capacity is important so it can hold my first Unraid nvme-only backup or some older archive 6x16TB mechanical drive (fully populated), and potentially 2 x 2.5'' SSD for cache It runs on my very old but trusty SuperMicro C236 mobo with Intel E3-1260L v5 with 32GB ECC memory My thoughts: Since this is only a box not running my VM, and will store my back and archive, I'm thinking of running this without array, just run the 6x16TB as a pool of ZFS (perhaps a RaidZ2) which still serve my requirement well enough from capacity standpoint I noted the benefit of ZFS pool as it have better performance (combined I/O of the drives), give same level of redundancy (RaidZ2 vs dual parity); but likely at an expense of compute and memory usage? I've 10Gbps network so running ZFS likely will give me better throughput while copy/backup large amount of files. I do not need a mixture of drive size (which is a pros with the Array) My questions: would my cpu/memory fit for purpose for the ZFS pool? Is there any other gotcha of ZFS vs Array that I need to know? Would appreciate all the advises based on my use-case. Many thanks

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
Thanks @SimonF and @Kilrah, it seems I exhausted all the options, will see how it goes may be a temp solution of dual booting, if I need to uses the GPU I will reboot and boot from a NVMe to make uses of the GPU

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
no worries @SimonF, i sincerely appreciate your help. it is not just an OS upgrade, I upgrade from my AMD platform to brand new Intel Core Ultra platform....as it isn't working, i also upgraded the Unraid from 6 to 7rc2.

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
Today i also spent some times swapping the GPU to different slots (those x4 slots) but unfortunately everytime i try boot up the VM with GPU passthru configured, the same error message greeted me. Is there anything else I could try, I need this to be working but it seems I did an upgrade of my platform and now ended with a non-working GPU passthru 😞

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
my GPU has exactly 16G, I'll try very shortly and see if it works, and yes I did try with and without the rom bios. Update @SimonF just tried (first try the qemu config didn't get save, but eventually figured out), the same dreaded "vfio-pci not ready, and giving up" message...i started to think this could be the motherboard/bios implementation that cause it doesn't get the GPU to passthrough I reverted all the other changes on other thread, just kept yours, and also upgraded to 7rc2 version. If its of any help (as i also upgraded to 7rc2), i also attach a latest copy of the diagnostic logs. tower-diagnostics-20241228-1741.zip

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
No driver installed at Unraid level, this GPU is intented for passthru to a VM only

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
Out of many searches, i also found this thread @ I follow through the guide as well making the necessary changes but I am still unsuccessful passing through the GPU

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
Still the same result even if I powered off the Unraid Server and powered it on back, starting the VM with the same "not ready --- after FLR" message then eventually the giving up log i too want to clarify the "vfio-pci.disable_idle_d3=1 vfio-pci.disable_vga=1" is something that I append to the syslinux argument so hopefullly that's the right way of doing it not sure if this helps, this card definitely works before, i just migrated the unraid from an AMD platform to Intel, and now I can't make this GPU passthru works...

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
Thanks @SimonF, just insert this line and rebooted the server. Starting the VM with the same FLR giving up result...was really hoping this would work
