[Support] Linuxserver.io - TVHeadend
Hi, I have tvheadend installed on Unraid 6.3.5 - M/B: Supermicro - X10SLL-F CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU E3-1265L v3 @ 2.50GHz HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled Cache: 256 kB, 1024 kB, 8192 kB Memory: 16 GB (max. installable capacity 32 GB) Network: eth0: 1000 Mb/s, full duplex, mtu 1500 Kernel: Linux 4.9.30-unRAID x86_64 Tvheadend is attached to two hdhomerun network devices (first generation which produce mpeg-2 output) connected to an antenna for OTA content. I'm not using this much - but tried a few things and some work some don't (at least for me). I'd like to know find out if this is something having to do with my setup (perhaps some error), or more general, due to, perhaps, running as a docker app etc. So: I can only watch/stream to my browser through webtv-vorbis codec. The other codecs do not produce any output. Sometimes I only get audio, and no video. For HD content would be great to be able to recode on the fly the mpeg stream - which otherwise doesn't run too well over wifi. I have I can only record program through default profile(pass mpeg) - which generates huge files. I can convert them afterwards, but if conversion on the fly/during recording, is possible, I would try to use it. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you hg

[Support] binhex - MiniDLNA
Hello; Thanks for making this docker available. I decided to experiment with it; simplicity is definitely a huge advantage over all the other media servers out there... Can you check if you have the same error message in your log and if not, suggest why is happening to me, and a possible solution: [2017/03/12 16:18:28] utils.c:279: warn: make_dir: cannot create directory '/var/run/minidlna' [2017/03/12 16:18:28] minidlna.c:400: error: Unable to create pidfile directory: /var/run/minidlna/minidlna.pid Further to that - I've got quite a few warnings about some issues found with my music. (corrupted oggs, names too long, not valid header, etc. How do you suggest to clean these up? do you recommend a tool whichcan check for corruptions, and other issues (like the one mentioned above)? Thanks hg

[Plugin] CA Fix Common Problems
Hello, Thank you for sharing this application with the unraid community. I recently added your plugin to my unraid server. I'm reporting a couple of issues, and I have a couple of questions. 1) false positives Ignored Errors & Warnings Suggested Fix Docker Application tvheadend is currently set up to run in host mode The template for this application specifies that the application should run in bridge mode. For your reference this link: https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/tvheadend/ "Host vs. Bridge If you use IPTV, SAT>IP or HDHomeRun, you need to create the container with --net=host and remove the -p flags. This is because of a limitation in docker and multicast." --------------------- Docker Application tvheadend, Container Port 9981 not found or changed on installed application When changing ports on a docker container, you should only ever modify the HOST port, as the application in question will expect the container port to remain the same as what the template author dictated. Fix this here: Application Support Thread Docker Application tvheadend, Container Port 9982 not found or changed on installed application When changing ports on a docker container, you should only ever modify the HOST port, as the application in question will expect the container port to remain the same as what the template author dictated. Fix this here: Application ------------------- Both lines are unjustified. I reinstalled tvheadend several times, and from a couple of sources, on this site. But the ports are the same. And I have tvheadend installed, but stopped. It has not been running for weeks. My questions : 1) is the program checking for a change of state in the previously identified state, and should that have happened, are the warnings/errors removed? If that is not the program behavior, is there any possibility to add a remove/hide option, so that messages which are not necessary should not be displayed. 2) I realize that is a matter of personal choice (I read your answer in the beginning of the thread) - but there is a semantic difference between an error and a warning. Seeing error messages I have two conscious choices to make, to go and check them each time, since an error must be treated with urgency, or, knowing that an error might not be exactly an error, I can choose to ignore it. (Remember Unraid is sending email notifications for various reasons, errors being one of them, and FCP is not the solely application generating notifications. There are other subsystems on unraid which can generate real errors). Desensitizing me to errors is the undesired effect of sending error messages when there are none. The same notion with "Crying wolf" if you want... That's it. Thanks for reviewing my reply. hg

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Just another follow-up on this topic (so to not mislead anyone about my results)... I have abandoned for the moment the use 9240-8i, because I just couldn't figure out the errors I got when I brought the server up (SMART errors and parity errors). I need more time and a parallel environment to test this thoroughly, and I don't have either one. The addition of the controller was supposed to just work ("plug-and-play") and has been anything but that... my unraid server was belly-up for more than 1 month, and I've wasted lots of time in the process, and spent more money than I wanted, trying to make things work. Worst of all I've accumulated all kind of SMART errors on my hard drives, and lost the parity synchronization. I have to spend now lots of time to re-validate, re-trust my data, and rebuild that parity drive, for redundancy. So a word of caution for anyone playing with this stuff... If you already have data on your hard drives, and upgrade your server components, do not plug them in until you are 100% everything works as you intend to. Make sure your tests are relevant to the real environment. Otherwise you are sure to risk time, money and information - which may be irreplaceable.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
I have a MegaRaid SAS 9240-8i (which seems to be the same card as M1015 - reading other posts) flashed with P18 IT firmware for LSI SAS 9211-8i. Downloaded firmware right from LSI support page. Getting to this stage has taken lots of trial and error, and I almost gave up on the card. Unraid is seeing it, loads the appropriate drivers, and doesn't complain. SMART info is also passed through, and available. Now... life is not entirely rosy, as I have some SMART errors. They don't appear to be related to the controller, as I had similar ones before installing it in the system. I'm still researching the cause.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
I had to change the 1-1 cables used for the motherboard to sff-8087 to sata (1-4), when I installed the controller. The initial cables were the typical ones coming with the mb. The controller cables are reused (amphenol) pulled from a commercial server (trying to save some money - but they look ok) I just ordered one of this - awfully expensive! - http://www5.ncix.ca/products/?sku=888895585 to do some testing and see if this is the cause ...

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Thanks, Fireball3. Interesting read. Perhaps that is it then. Everything hooked up to the controller is listed in the file attached to my previous post (8 drives). The controller is plugged into the PCIe x8 slot on a Supermicro H8SMi-2 motherboard. I have no hard drives connected to the m/b at this moment. Unfortunately I realized that I continue to have a problem with my system, thought of being gone: I still have to figure out what is causing a humongous number of UDMA_CRC errors, on a couple of my hard drives. Those alone can slow everything down. Besides my data is at risk as well. I had them before getting the controller, when I had the drives connected to the motherboard, but not too many - well.... in the hundreds. Now that I moved all the HDDs to the controller, the number of UDMA_CRC errors (SMART report) jumped up 20 fold! The SMART report still says that the drive is healthy, and it may be, but I have to figure out where the errors come from, or replace the hard drives. Since I've changed the cables connecting to the drive, my next suspects are http://store.antec.com/P/hot-swap-module-for-df-85/0-761345-30757-4.aspx (where the HDD plugs into), or perhaps the interface on the drives themselves, or the power supply.

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
I'll update my previous post because I just tried again to flash P18 of 2118IT.bin Unlike the previous results, this time it worked, and my controller is now running P18 firmware. Performance wise, no change... still disappointing. Parity check speed varies between 30MB/s and 60MB/s - more on the low speed... More details: Since 2 days ago I've been on P16, after going in many circles - I'm not sure how I got there, but I'll try to remember and, if of any interest, add to this thread my experience. I had a stable P16 firmware loaded. No bios. One of the tools is reporting the controller now being a SAS2008 B2 hardware version, whole originally it was reported as B3. I'm not sure if this matters, and how much it matters. To perform the latest upgrade I booted in dos, and used the command (without any other preamble): sas2flsh -l logfile -o -f 2118it.bin followed by sas2flshg -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx right after. Both terminated successfully. Both the firmware and the utility to flash it onto the card were from LSI site (LSI SA9211-8i) After flashing I just rebooted back in unraid and everything works alright. From the same place i downloaded also sas2ircu, and there is a version for each OS. Since there is a 32 bit version for linux, i just copied it on unraid memory stick, and I can run it from there. I'm attaching its output for info (running the command ./sas2ircu 0 display ctrlinfo.txt) ctrlinfo.txt

LSI Controller FW updates IR/IT modes
Hello; I had a question posted in the General section, and been advised to ask instead here... I have the LSI MegaRAID 9240-8i... http://www.lsi.com/products/raid-controllers/pages/megaraid-sas-9240-8i.aspx#tab4; What is the latest known operational (in unraid) version of BIOS, firmware and configuration (IT/IR)? What kind of performance do you see in your setup? I've spent lots hours trying /but couldn't crossflash it with the latest sw from either one of these: http://www.lsi.com/products/host-bus-adapters/pages/lsi-sas-9210-8i.aspx#tab4 http://www.lsi.com/products/host-bus-adapters/pages/lsi-sas-9211-8i.aspx#tab4 I've got it running at the moment with an earlier version of LSI software (after trying all the packages posted on this forum and other sites - thank you for sharing your work & experiences!), and ignoring the errors I get when i use the recommended tools... The motherboards I have (H8SMi-2, and M5A99x EVO R2.0) give errors/warnings when following the process outlined by many. Screenshots: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1sz6dbrb48xr4zt/IMG_0121.JPG https://www.dropbox.com/s/ub6qa62f92nmljo/IMG_0124.JPG Anyway, after going through different phases - either missing the controller entirely (in unraid), or one of the ports - it is now running. The performance is rather disappointing, and I'm not sure what contributes to that. The maximum I saw in a parity check was about 60MB/s. Hence my earlier questions. Some other experience with the same card, in the same setup, but loaded with the original RAID software: I have a spare drive loaded with Linux Mint v16 x64, I just plugged it into the same system, and booted that image, instead of that of unraid. Mint has absolutely no problem recognizing the RAID controller (loading mptsas driver) and reporting all the harddrives (individually - w/o any prior setup, just disabled card bios at boot time). I see all of them in Dolphin file manager, and if I click on each the browser opens them one by one and I'm able to explore all directories and all files w/o any issue. I ran reiserfsck on them, w/o any problem. I didn't do any performance check, but what a relief to be able to use it as is, out of the box. Why can't unraid do the same? Is mptsas driver is not available in unraid/slackware? It must be, and using it would save us endless cross-flashing torments? Looking for some enlightenment and a stable solution ... Thank you hg
