  1. I could be wrong (and hope I am for your sake) but I believe VT-d on the SR0H8 is broken. You want SR0KX. DOH This is embarrassing. I take it this is what i should of ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-2-pcs-SR0KX-Intel-Xeon-E5-2670-2-6GHz-8-Core-Socket-2011-CPU-/331818841195?hash=item4d41f1b46b:g:pNMAAOSwv-NWZxoZ Sent from the Bphone using the magic cloud through tapatalk Correct.
  2. Wholly CRAP! I've been away a couple months, (Business is going crazy good), and I come back to see this thread is still in the top spot! Congrats Shama for starting a record thread! Gotta say the Juggernaut is running like a champ. Still haven't built the second server yet, as I've yet to fully utilize the beast I currently have running. It's funny now trying to utilize 32 threads and 128GB of memory! -D
  3. I've been trying to send you PM's but I'm not sure they're going through. I'll take them, if you're not getting my PM's you can Email me at a burn email account I set up: Thanks. EDIT: Removed Burn E-mail.
  4. DIBS! Two questions first: Do you have the Half Height Brackets? Is it $75.00 for both Cards & the Cables? Thanks, and awaiting to pay pending answers! EDIT: Sent PM as well.
  5. From my testing, I've found CPU Cooler orientation makes no discernible variation on CPU0 + CPU1 temps, (As long as you have good case airflow.)
  6. Followed you guide and both of my Cards are now Flashed in IT mode. Relatively painless process. Thanks again for all the info!
  7. Don't know if anyone's interested but I got curious, and decided to see how easy it would be to get my RAM to DDR3-1600.. Answer: Exceptionally Easy. Basically just go into BiOS and set the Memory Speed from Auto to DDR3-1600. Done. This is on the ASRock EP2C602-4L/D16 Board, but I image it would be quite similar on the others. Tested with 128GB of the Micron RAM from eBay as well as 128GB Nanya from NATEX.
  8. If you can get into the ipmi screen, under the maintenance tab is a restore factory defaults option ... That may reset your bios... I think the Java applet is just for the remote viewing function... Finally got it. I was able to finally get it through IMPI. For anyone who doesn't know the the Java applet is the actual IPMI interface. You download it then run the .exe And to note, the applet is a one time use between boots of the server, so if you reboot, you'll have to download the applet again.
  9. Why would this be? This is exactly what happened to me but now everything works... It may just be bad "seating" of the RAM. 2 times out of the 15 I've reconfigured my system (The Dual 2670 ASRock) I've had post errors regarding memory. The nice thing about the ASRock's they tell you during post what exact DIMM is at fault, to power down, and re-seat the DIMM in question. both times I've done this, it's fired right back up no problem. Don't forget we're using server grade stuff here, it can be quite.... Finicky
  10. Personally, and this is just my opinion with what I'll put in my system, I would never use an adapter for something like the 8PIN EPS. I mean you're going to go through all the trouble to build a beast of a system, at a fraction of the price. Why temp fate by having it destroyed in the blink of an eye, by a PSU not really rated or made for the load? Personally I put as much money possible into the PSU on any system I build, and in reality Quality PSU's now of days are quite cheap. I could understand a 4pin molex to 6 pin PCIe adapter, but not something system critical like the CPU. Again, just my $0.02
  11. You're most welcome! I show the exact same temps on my CPU's at both idle and full prime 95 load. I was setup the same CPU0 blows into CPU1 then out the rear exhaust. I turned CPU1 90 degrees so it exhausts to the PSU intake and pulls what I had hope cooler air, but ended up with the same temps. 30 degrees from TJ Max under full load I can live with at about a 10 degree difference between the two processors. For RAM I would stick with matching if it's all going into the same system. I did just buy another 2x 8x8GB RAM this time from NATEX for my second server. My first set was a complete set from cloudninjas 2x 8x8GB.
  12. I'd go down to 1 CPU and two DIMMS of memory to try and narrow down if it's a bad CPU / Memory
  13. Did you update your port forwarding for SSH access in your router? (assuming your internal IP has changed with the new server)
  14. Small to medium size business I.T. consultation. Mostly infrastructure and business productivity analysis. Basically your on call, as needed I.T. company for the businesses that can't dedicate the capitol in house.
  15. Thanks! I have to finish up a project for a client, but I'll give this a go tomorrow evening. I guess my next question is, will it be possible to flash back the original Firmware if say I want to move these cards one day to another server? I'm sure you can download the original intel FW from their site correct?
  16. FYI, I had trouble flashing mine using an MS DOS and FreeDOS USB sticks (problem with the sas2flsh.exe). I had to hunt down the sas2flsh.efi uefi tool to do the actual LSI fw flash. Let me know if you run into the same and I'll provide the URL to the LSI download containing the sas2flsh.efi package. Thanks, that would be most helpful, I am having trouble trying to flash just as you describe.
  17. I honestly still haven't had time to flash all the firmware updates for this rig, and I just got two new RAID controllers in today to add to that list of needing flashed. My business is just slammed as of the last two weeks. I will report back once I get time to finalize the configurations. I actually have never folded before. Literally. This would be my first attempt, so I'l have to do some digging around the forums here, to implement on my new unRAID server. Kinda of conflicting questions here: You ask to lower noise, then to lower temps. Gonna be hard to satisfy one and sate the other. It looks like you have the same case I went with, Norco RPC-470. I volt modded my mid-wall fans down to 7v. Made a big difference on noise, and didn't reduce airflow that much. I also have all other fans running off the MoBo PWM fan headers set to Smart control through BiOS. Idles nice and quite. Edit: The Volt Mod only requires you to move one of the Fan Wall's 4-PIN molex wires. The red one specifically. You can see the mod exactly in the Last two pics of my system here: Juggernaut The power molex for the mid-wall is just poking out the pass through hole in front of the PSU. Notice the Black And Red Wire Positions.
  18. I imagine you'll be updating the first post of this thread once the changeover is completed?
  19. Agreed got mine early this morning, but was too busy to ope until now. It does indeed come with Forward Breakout Cables in the box (x2) Great buy! I'll flash mine tonight.
  20. I have to give the political answer, as I don't want to give bad advice, and I don't know the specifics of your setup as far as power draw. The safest thing for you to do is look at all the power specifications for each component in your system add them up, and for safety add 20% for power requirement. The toughest thing is this statement you made above. You first said a stand alone GPU but nothing that would require additional power, but then follow up with the statement quoted, which leads me to believe you may want to add a GPU requiring supplemental power in the future. If I read that correctly, and it is indeed the case, then yes I would be looking at a little more power. I can tell you the Seasonic X-850 will handle both scenarios easily. I will tell you when I was running my old server with 13 Disks, 1 Cache SSD, 1 AMD 6400K, & 1 SASLP-MV8. It was all on a Corsair CX750. I eventually started getting strange things happening. I would boot up, but always be missing a random disk from my array. I was also getting the same 5 Parity Check errors every month. As soon as I replaced the PSU with the Quality Seasonic X-850 I have now, all those issues went away. Though I could have set the HDD's to spin up staggered, to compensate the disk not being found, but I didn't want to risk what happened when all disks spun up together for a parity check. I'm not saying you need more, but if you plan on expanding at all in the future, when not spend a little more to have the ability?
  21. Windows 10 + Chrome + AdBlocker Here. I was getting ready to start a thread, but decided to search one more time... Yup, my cache drive is never attached after reboot, I'm going to assume if I use edge or IE this will resolve.
  22. I feel the same way. All this power will sit idle 80% of the time, might as well use it for good. With great power, comes great responsibility? I'd like to think it's something that honorable... .. But I suspect the kid in me is more on the Tim Allen line of thinking ... MORE POWER!
  23. I must say... We be all some badazz hardcore nerdz. I think I'll have to set Juggernaut to Fold while not in use. It feels wrong to have this juice sitting around and do nothing when idle...
