  1. I think it would be nice to have these in the store. If only to make their availability more visible.
  2. Not true. So, say I were to chargeback on paypal (don't worry, I'm not) you'd be able to disable my licence? Only reason why that confuses me is because I've loaded unraid up without internet access and it still verified that I was pro. The only way I can see you blocking me is if you pushed a patch that either:- A. Forced me to be online B. Blocked my key file in a manual patch, however, I'd still be able to use R5C11 and below. i think what tom was saying no to was the "any version of unraid" part.
  3. another thing i noticed with my box is that i never seem to see this happen during normal operation but only during an initial startup. i have never noticed unraid running fine for any amount of time and then this issue suddenly happens. this issue only seems to occur when i first turn the system on. could be coincidence.
  4. well, after being unable to find the root cause but being certain it is not a plugin issue, i started over with a clean setup in unraid. that seemed to help, for a while. now i am getting the "transport endpoint" issue which i am starting to suspect was the problem all along. hopefully this bug gets squashed.
  5. recently i was getting a lot of weird behavior and thought it was my plugins. i concluded it wasnt and just did a clean install of unraid. all was going fine until yesterday when i started getting these "transport endpoint" errors. webui was accessible but my shares were not, though they appeared to be mounted. i restarted safely and it only got worse. now the webui wont start and the flash is the only drive that will mount. i even put in another 4gb of ram (total of 12) and it is still acting up. i do have a number of plugins but 12gb (or even 8gb) out to be enough. i see no OOM errors in the log anyway. i tried the fix on the first page and it might have worked. maybe just a coincidence. it was late and i havent had time to check into it. i really hope this issue gets fixed because it completely renders my system, and everything that relies on it, unusable.
  6. what does the custom powerdown script in this latest version do? is it any kind of replacement for the clean powerdown script?
  7. Thanks Joe. I was hoping that wasn't the case. I will post in the customization forum and go from there.
  8. I just started getting this issue a few days ago. I first noticed it because even though the server is on, XBMC wasn't playing my shows because the shares weren't there. When I investigated I found the user shares were not mounting, though the individual disks are. I keep my plugins in a separate hidden user share to make things cleaner. My plugins are also listed as "not installed" and I am getting errors like: 500 Internal Server Error The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. Traceback (most recent call last): File "/mnt/user/plugins/sabnzbd/install/cherrypy/_cprequest.py", line 618, in respond File "/mnt/user/plugins/sabnzbd/install/cherrypy/_cpdispatch.py", line 25, in __call__ File "/mnt/user/plugins/sabnzbd/install/sabnzbd/interface.py", line 298, in index File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/Cheetah/Template.py", line 1259, in __init__ self._compile(source, file, compilerSettings=compilerSettings) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/Cheetah/Template.py", line 1546, in _compile self._fileMtime = os.path.getmtime(file) File "/usr/lib/python2.6/genericpath.py", line 54, in getmtime return os.stat(filename).st_mtime OSError: [Errno 107] Transport endpoint is not connected: '/mnt/user/plugins/sabnzbd/install/interfaces/Plush/templates/main.tmpl' for sabnzdb and: 500 Internal Server Error The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. This is obviously because the user share they are on did not get mounted. The webui is perfectly fine. When I go to the webui and look at the share, it shows nothing there. It will sometimes work with just a restart but not always. I don't know what the issue is. I have included a full syslog. I did recently install a plugin for ssh but I don't think that is it, although it might be. I honestly can't recall if if happened before or after that. Can anyone offer me some insight? syslog: http://pastebin.com/xFAXTkTM
  9. yea i did ask there but i have never gotten any valuable help there. i have here and since there is some user overlap i thought id try here next. but its a three day weekend. if no one knows i can always try it out myself.
  10. yes, but i am referring to the library watchdog, which is an add-on to xbmc. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=128896 it continually scans and cleans the library. since i dont know the technical details of how it achieves this, i am asking if anyone here has any personal experience with this. because while i do want it to clean the library for when, say, sickbeard upgrades the quality of a show it does not keep the deleted show in the library, i also do not want it to clean the entire library (essentially deleting it) simply because the share is unavailable. i hope there is logic in place to prevent this, especially since using watchdog over an nfs share is an extremely commonplace practice.
  11. so im looking at using library watchdog for xbmc but i had a concern and was hoping someone here knows the answer. i have xbmc on a raspberry pi powered by my tv's usb service port so xbmc turns on when my tv does. all my media is on an unraid server that is not always on when xbmc is (i dont like the server to always be on). my question is this: since watchdog will add AND remove items from the library, if the nfs share is not available when xbmc loads will it basically clean the library or will it just wait for it to be reachable?
  12. personally, i am looking forward to 64-bit because, like Tom, i feel PAE is kind of a workaround hack and i tend to dislike those. it seems most people are either indifferent or prefer to move forward with 64bit. of the 192 that took the poll, only 3 use 32 bit hardware (two of which are ok retiring it). and from the comments some of those may have even been mistaken. it seems like going forward with 64-bit is the way things may be going. if that is the case then the question changes to what to do about 32 support. in my view, there are 4 options in regards to this happening: 1. drop support for 32bit. make 4.x the last of the 32bit line 2. fully support both versions indefinitely 3. fully support both versions for a while (i.e. through 5.x). the phase out approach. 4. legacy support 32-bit with only critical bug fixes (feature locked).
  13. well, i tried changing it to just a specific disk but that didnt work either. they must be taking too long to mount. i fixed it by changing it to the flash drive for now. i'll see if it will properly shut down tomorrow. thanks for the confirmation.
  14. ok, i think i found a possible reason why this isnt working. to aid in trouble shooting i added those log files but i think those are what are causing the issues. the logs are saved to a user share like /mnt/user/plugins/<date>.log when i manually run it, everything is fine but i when i went down to the server room and looked at the screen while it was booting i saw this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/boot/shutdown.py", line 98, in (module) sys.stderr = open('/mnt/user/plugins/' + datetime.datetime.now().strftime("%Y%m%d-%H%M%S") + '.log', 'w') IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/mnt/user/plugins/20130103-155733.log so it seems the script is trying to create a log file on the user share (as it should) but the user share is not up and running yet. does that sound right?
  15. well now i dont know what the hell is going on. when i got home the server was still on. it has not been turning off the last few days for some reason. the script is supposed to run "/sbin/powerdown &" at 8:00, which it did, yet it did not shutdown and i dont know why. there was never an issue before. as influencer suggested, i also checked the processes for transmission and only grep and the daemon were running. went to disable the plugin but i couldnt access the windows share. i did it through ftp. disabled the plugin and restarted but it is still not running the python script. i have a debug log in my script and also changed it to write any python interpreter errors to a log file. they are both time stamped. the most recent logs are from yesterday, meaning when i restarted the server, the script was not executed. this is driving me crazy. here is my go script: #!/bin/bash # Start the Management Utility /usr/local/sbin/emhttp & echo "anon_world_readable_only=NO" >> /etc/vsftpd.conf sed -i 's/.*local_root=.*/local_root=\//' /etc/vsftpd.conf python /boot/sabnzbd_shutdown.py & originally i did not have the ampersand at the end but changed it to see if it would help. it did not. it is also taking usually long to start since this started happening.
  16. the script runs continually in the background. i use it to manage my downloads during off peak hours. i made no changes to the go script when it quit working. i noticed it wasnt working because the script is supposed to automate some things and they werent happening. i checked the running processes and it isnt there until i manually start it. the webui is still accessible. i don't have the go script or python script on this pc right now but the go script is just the default script with "python /boot/downloadscript.py" added. i doubt it's the python script since all it does is interact with the sabnzbd api and the script itself isnt erring out as when i run it manually it is fine. the only changes i made to the server were adding the transmission plugin and tweaking my python script. i seem to recall having this issue before in relation to a plg preventing the go script from running but my memory is fuzzy.
  17. im having an issue as suddenly my go script is not executing. i made no changes to the GO script and the only thing i have in there is a line to run a python script. i made some changes to the python script that the go script runs and added influencer's transmission plugin. since then the go script doesn't run. it is not the python script erring out as i can run it manually. are there just too many plugins running or something?
  18. Thanks for that - it should get me going. Would it still not make sense for the ntfs-3g package to be included in the standard unRAID install without the need to add it afterwards? i would probably say no. it's not needed (and im guessing not used by many) and not really part of unraids design goal. i use a few plugins as well but they definitely shouldnt be standard.
  19. There is a 24 hours only sale at Newegg. WD Green WD20EARX 2TB $89.99 + free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136891&Tpk=22-136-891&nm_mc=EMC-GD120512&cm_mmc=EMC-GD120512-_-index-_-Item-_-22-136-891
  20. i thought i tried that but i guess not. it's working now. unless i use my plugins again. but i think i know which one is causing the issue.
  21. so. my server was on for some reason. must not have shut itself down when it was supposed to. not of my plugins were running and would not start. no i stopped the array from the webui but it after unmounting the disk. it quit responding. i went downstairs to the server (didnt try telnet) and tried a safe powerdown but it didnt do anything so i had to force it off by holding power. now it will start but still no webui or shares, except the flash drive. i disabled all plugins by moving them out of the /config/plugins folder. i also tried this: killall emhttp nohup /user/local/emhhtp & but im getting a permission denied. i am not a noob but have no idea what is going on here. i need some help.
  22. here is another option as well: http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/
  23. ive got a raspberry pi running xbmc. to make streaming HD from my unraid box easier i decided to try NFS instead of samba. i enabled it and decided to test it in windows (windows 8 actually). however when i transfer a file via NFS i get ~50MB/s as apposed to ~80MB/s on samba. now ive read that NFS has been not so good in unraid historically so im wonder if this is the fault of unraid or windows. i'll try it on xbmc but i dont really know how to test the transfer rates with it.
  24. the information can be a little difficult to find and interpret for someone not familiar with this sort of stuff. here is a link to the information for future reference: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Powerdown_script but i will summarize it all for you. go here and download the script: http://code.google.com/p/unraid-powercontrol/downloads/list put the file in the "packages" folder in the root of your unraid flash drive (create the folder if it doesnt exist). on your flash drive go to the "config" folder and open the file "go" in notepad or other text editor. add these 2 lines to the end of it: installpkg /boot/packages/powerdown-1.02.tgz sysctl -w kernel.poweroff_cmd="/sbin/powerdown" reboot unraid. it should install the script and bind it to the power button, provided it is supported by the motherboard.
