  3. Hello. How were you able to get a nice formatted docker log size output like that?

UPDATE: I've been reading the DOCKER FAQ's and general use, and it seems that I can probably use the DOCKER command line or execute a command using the docker command. I've used and setup several dockers, not a maniac on having 20 dockers. Just 10 or less and 5 or less are probably running 24/7. I'm gonna keep reading.

  4. Looked over some tools that I have. I have installed the Dynamix tools, but I want to see what specific files are being moved, the speed and what program is moving them. Is there a plugin or docker that would supply realtime information like that giving details on what's happening with all reads/writes, what files and programs are doing it? Right now I'm just looking at the attached plugin, but I need more.

I've seen some talk about with people who use HGST drives, but haven't seen much in the way of saying "Yeah, these are great and fantastic" or "They work, but I'd recommend something else". Anyone have any words of wisdom to share, personal experiences, etc.?

Reason I ask is because I found some 10TB HGST Ultrastar SAS drives (HUH721010AL4200) I'm thinking about getting to replace my mixed 1,2,3TB WD, Seagate, Toshiba array in my 16 bay JBOD. They are used but have overwhelmingly positive reviews and purchases on eBay, with a 30 day warranty and testing 100%...and at $129 it seems like a steal that may be too good to be true.

Should I steer clear, or pull the trigger?

DO NOT buy that ad on Amazon for tht 5 pack for $350. It is a SCAM. The vendor only sends one out, not 5. And there's nothing special about helium. It will work just as any drive and does not give the drive some amazing force. I have several HGST white label drives. I have a 15 drive array. 10 of them are enterprise 7200 RPM HGST white labels. I looked up what they mean by "enterprise" means superior parts of their cheaper drives and other manufacture drives of the same comparison. Unfortunately WD is ceasing the HitachiGST brand. Too bad.

Here is that SCAM listing from Amazon.

  6. Have you tried turning it on via command line terminal?

'ip link set up eth0' or 'sudo ip link set up eth0'.

If you happen to turn on the NIC, have some fun with these commands and their switches.

    ifconfig

    arp

    netstat

    IP address

    IP route

    nmap

    ss

And there are plenty more. Some you may need to add. Don't forget the Nerd pack!!!

  7. WD 12TB Elements External - $229 - Most likely an HST or a RED or similar.

WD Internal 12TB HGST ( Western Digital ) Ultrastar Helium drive. Don't get all excited. The Helium is just a word they threw in there. Like when you get air in your tires at the shop and they charge you a little extra for Helium. Means nothing. $270

Ok people, should I be honest and pay the $40 difference or be a criminal and SHUCKEE the external? I have an 8TB drive allocating sectors more and more, so I'll need to get it soon. My parity is only 10TB, so guess what? I would need to swap out my parity and remove the dead 8TB and re-purpose the 10TB. I've upped my parity only 15 times now, so I am getting tired of it but my array is going fast. I have 15 drives 5 of them are 4TB which are slowing me down a lot but out of 88TB total I have 12TB available. More and more 4K content. Specially that beautiful Dolby Vision content. What to do? Buy a couple 12TB externals, get all my $$$ back or give my money out to these price gouging greedy share holders that would cut rations of food on their own kids if it would save them a $1???

Hi all, hope you are well.

I have a 2.5gb NIC card in my server taking a PCIe slot. I want to remove this to put a GPU in and just use the onboard NIC. Is there anything special I need to do in Unraid to make this smooth?

    Thanks

Just make sure your onboard NIC is turned on. I would set everything to DHCP, then when you can get into the server you can easily configure the network settings back to what they were. The only thing I do is statically configure my NIC, that's it.

  9. Looking for a plugin or docker that shows what is taking up all the disk space. Graphical pie chart would be nice, or even a file explorer view where you can drill down into sub folders. Two Windows programs I use is WINDIRSTAT and TreeSize. Also, I could not post in the Docker Container folder as it would not let me. I have been looking through the app catalog and can't seem to find anything like that.

    Thanks!

Okay, a little more searching and I think I've learned this is known/expected (unfortunately) behavior. It's unRAID server that can't keep up with Plex streaming when file transfers occur.

Correct. If you are streaming from unraid and then even make a small copy on another workstation say goodbye to that original stream. When I want to get ready to watch a movie from Plex, I have to make sure there are no programs scheduled to run or processes going to kick off on unraid.

  11. I don't think my Ethernet drivers are loaded or the UNRAID portal. Here is what happened.

I always had a cable modem and a router hooked up. My cable modem started to flake out on me so I ordered another modem from the cable company. I said to myself I'm going to try and use this new modem natively and remove my own personal router and just use the inside capabilities of the modem itself instead of my router. This new modem had a completely different subnet and IP addresses. No big deal, so I decided to use them. The new modem was 10.0.0.1 and used 10.x for everything. The old modem used 192.168.x.x IP addresses but both modem were identical. My UNRAID server was configured to be 192.168.1.253. NOW, I can't even access my UNRAID box because it looks to me the Ethernet drivers don't even load ( no lights ) and the portal is down. For me to access the UNRAID box I have to remove one SFF 8 port card and put a display card there. I went into the network.cfg file, made all the changes and put everything back. Still can't access my unraid box no matter what I do. Going a little crazy here. I really would like to keep the new 10.0.x.x but if I have to switch back I will.  Anyone have any recommendations on how to straighten this out. It's a big curve call that came out of the mitt pretty quick. Why didn't my IP's change with UNRAID when I made the changes to the network.cfg file?

  12. I bought my last computer a few weeks ago. Given the fact I'm 51 I doubt I'll be buying full machines again, except for replacement parts and stuff like that. I've never had such a fast, peppy machine, and since this was my last I kind of went overkill on everything.
