  1. well, there is an LSI raid card flashed to IT Mode but i would think if that was the issue, more drives would be failing since there are multiple drives attached to that LSI card. About half of my array is on that card. I suppose when I replace or reattach this drive, I can replace the SATA cable entirely and change the SATA port on the MB this drive attaches to. I really have no idea what is causing this.
  2. Also I noticed that my array home page is showing the following. Why are all my drives showing unassigned and assigned? Is this an update to unraid in the last update? I am not doing anything with my array until I get some reassurance! lol
  3. I have replaced a WD 3TB Red drive 2 times in the past 6 to 8 months. It has been replaced via Western Digital's warranty replacement procedures. That replacement drive (now on the 3rd drive from WD) has failed today. This drive has been replaced around Christmas, so it has not even made it one whole month. I have read that the 3TB series of WD Red drives have had some issues, but really? It even says that it is passing smart tests. I have posted the zip file from the last diagnostic dump on the array so hopefully this will help somebody tell me what went wrong with this drive so I can tell WD correctly maybe. I can't just say its failing smart tests because it doesn't say it is failing the smart tests at all. Any help would be much appreciated. I imagine the folks at WD are going to put me on a watch list if I keep sending drives in to them... This is getting very frustrating having to replace this SAME drive every month or 2, or 3. I just want it to work already.... unbrandon-diagnostics-20160118-1507.zip
  4. Yep that did it. Thanks for the speedy reply. I tested it on my wifes laptop and everything ran buttery smooth. I haven't been a gamer in about a decade which is why I'm so far behind on the things steam can do. Unraid is bringing me back into the gaming world, that's how great this OS is! As long as I can keep her happy as she gets into gaming herself, I have an argument to buy the dual Xeons I want! This next build should be quite fun indeed!
  5. That looks like exactly what I want. I guess that any games on steam will work great that way but my wife's Sims 4 game will have to be played on the system itself. They offer the Sims 4 on origin but it's not on steam yet.
  6. SO I have looked up and I am trying to convince the wife to allow me to drop even more money on my unRAID build. My talk to her is the following.... I run things like Plex so my family can watch TV and movies all day, but I also Game on my unRAID box by passing a GPU through and my family watches TV without issue. Now, my wife has started to get into computer games as well. Currently she just plays the Sims 4. She wants to play this game by me spinning up her own Windows VM that she can play from her laptop. Her laptop is okay and all, but the server hardware is much better. The only issue I am having now is trying to get her to RDP or teamviewer into this VM from her cheap laptop on the couch. I tried Teamviewer and it worked for her, but it was pretty slow connection wise. I tried Windows RDP and that didnt even let the game come up for her at all. I did some searching on Google and found something called RemoteFX but that looks like its only for windows Server OS. Is there anything that i can use to allow my wife to play games on my unraid server via her laptop, while on the same network as the unraid server? One thing of note is that the wireless in my home is dual-band 5GHz 802.11ac... now she was trying to do this over WiFi, but i figured that the wireless in my home would have been fast enough to have a great connection between server and laptop. Maybe I was wrong about that? The wireless connection on her laptop shows to be 780Mbps when looking at that. Server is set at 1 Gig.
  7. Ditto... I am on the verge of dropping crashplan all together. I haven't been able to get the work around solution to work for me and I am only willing to go so long without backups... My crashplan seems broken as its not backing up to my other computer anymore and I can't manage the settings since the desktop dockers is broken.
  8. Ratuken.com used to be Buy.com. They are quite reputable. They used to be. They no longer are reputable. They are a den for credit fraud and identity thieves. Well its too late for me but thanks for the warning. I use a special card for online purchases so if something bad does happen, it's not linked to my bank. I'll still have to fight to get the money back that gets stolen like anybody else would but at least the damage will be minimal.
  9. just tried the docker stop and docker kill commands for the Sonar container ID and that just hung the telnet session like it was trying to kill it but it did not work. I am force reloading my server now. I am remote from work so hopefully I can get back into it from here.
  10. attachment for diagnostic files. tower-diagnostics-20150929-0805.zip
  11. My WEBUI is hung. I think the Sonar docker is to blame but maybe someone smarter than I can tell me for sure. It seems this one docker has taken down my entire array. I can telnet, and access shares though. I can access other dockers WEBUI areas, but I cannot load the unRAID main page. This happened after Sonar stopped grabbing files from SAB and I suspected an issue with it so I tried to load the WEBUI for Sonar. That did not work, so I went back to the unRAID dashboard and tried to stop Sonar. That is when everything with the unRAID page died on me. I don't know if these logs will help anybody tell me for certain, what caused Sonar to behave this way but I wanted to see if there is something I can do. Since turning my mover script off my array made it almost a full 6 days without any issue. That's the longest I have gone without having to shut the array down for an issue like this.
  12. It's $7 more expensive but still a deal if you missed the first one on the site the OP inserted. I missed the first sale and had to buy from here. Never heard of these guys, but they are a Google trusted seller so I went with it. $239.99 + free shipping http://www.rakuten.com/prod/8tb-archive-128mb-sata-6gb-s/275128578.html
  13. I bought one myself. Would've got two if I had the means. If it works well for me, I'll buy another one or two around Christmas time and hopefully they'll go back on sale during that time as well.
  14. I have 18 possible SATA slots in my server with 10 on board and 8 from an LSI raid card flashed IT mode. I was just worried about the size of this drive, as it would more than double anything I currently have. I kind of want to buy a few and just download the internet....
  15. WOW..... I love that price but this makes me nervous. Do you think these would be okay unraid data drives? I don't have anything that large in my array so I would need 2 of them and make one parity. That isn't exactly archiving though is it?
  16. FWIW I think the previous poster might be onto something. I had a similar issue a few months back myself now that I think about it. I had a disk that would pass all checks I threw at it, but unRAID would still crash randomly. It had errors in the log for that drive but then when i checked it myself, there was nothing. I replaced that drive, and everything seemed to work better after that.
  17. Right, you'd need to run a HDMI and USB from the basement to where you want the keyboard/mouse/screen to be. Which there are people on here that run that cable and game using that basement computer. I have heard of that happening more than once and actually contemplated doing it myself.
  18. I have never heard of this before and really wanted to know if there was a way to isolate what cores a certain docker can use. For my case, SABNZDB likes to work really hard, and my Intel i5 just cannot keep up sometimes it seems. When SAB is unpacking certain things, it causes my Plex, which works fine and even under minimal transcoding, will start to stutter and skip until the file is unpacked. When I look in the unRAID dashboard, I see my CPU sitting at 100% until that file is unpacked. I don't care how long it takes to unpack certain files, so I would rather give SAB just one core (2 at most) and let it go. This would solve so many of my issues. I will be searching for how to do this tonight, so this nuisance issue with SAB will be solved. Of course, if anybody has a different way they would do it, please let me know as well. I am certainly open to suggestions. If this goes on much longer, my wife might throw me out! (just kidding of course..... I hope) BTW, unRAID 6 is starting to be the box I always dreamed of having.... One to rule them all! I am very thankful to the hard work that LT has been doing to roll out such a great product. I have even turned on several of the people I work with to your product, because they see what I am doing. I have converted a gamer this past weekend. I think he will be building a new system and buying unRAID in the coming weeks.
  19. Have you done the upgrade to 6.1.2 which includes a fix for GUI hangs and has been getting positive feedback on the fix. Submitting any reports for an earlier release would almost certainly result in being told to upgrade to 6.1.2 to see if it still happens. No but this will be done as soon as I get home from work. I'm running the 6.1 right now still. Thanks!
  20. I have been having issues with the WEBUI hanging and not responding as well. I can always telnet in though. My shares DO go offline when the WEBUI hangs though, so I cannot access any data at all. I also cannot get into any docker apps that are running when the web UI hangs. They just spin in the browser and eventually timeout. Plex seems to die too and become inaccessible. I will bookmark this forum post and keep watching it. I have to force an unclean shutdown anywhere from 8 hours to 4 or 5 days as well. I will post diagnostic files here in this forum post when/if it happens again. I will also be certain to update as soon as they come out from Limetech. I run quite a bit on my server as far as dockers and VMs go but I would be willing to stop almost all of them for debugging and finding a root cause to this issue. My wife would probably scream at me if I left the Plex docker off, as this is our only form of watching TV now that I cut the cord. I am sure I could leach off a few friends servers while we resolve this issue though. Best of luck to us all!
  21. I will try to keep this brief, but I probably won't be able to since I like to ramble sometimes. I am looking to modify my current backup solution for my unRAID system. I have been looking at it harder lately, and the more I look, the less I like what I am doing. Problem is, I cannot find any real "easy" or quick solution to it. So here is what I do now... I run Crashplan as a docker, and have crashplan installed on multiple PCs around the house. All the PC's backup to the unRAID nightly. Unraid backs up to a work computer offsite (one they were going to just get rid of) that runs 24X7, and that serves as my DR solution. Currently (for obvious reason of this being at work) nothing that could be considered "intellectual property" ever touches the work computer. Right now it is only things I said to myself that I could never lose. Family photos (several thousand) of my first child being born, tax documents, school work, etc. I am now wanting to backup EVERYTHING to somewhere that does not involve my work. It's not that anyone at my job cares (because they don't), but I want to be able to keep EVERYTHING offsite, and not have this moral dilemma. Also, whatever solution I come up with has that initial pain of the first offsite "push" of 10 TB of data using a 12 mbps upload speed. I have a little money that I am saving right now, and would not mind buying a cheap system, putting unraid on that new system, and then once the intial backup is complete, putting that computer at a friends house, providing I can access it remotely to change a few things of course when needed. I figured I would ask the masses.... Am I crazy? I always said this was content I could easily get again if something terrible (lightning strike, tornado, fire, flood) ever happened to my home, but as I get more and more content, I am starting to think that backup of absolutely everything isn't such a bad idea. Better to do it now then wait until I have collected another 10 TB of crap right? I am willing to spend a little money here, but would like to keep it fairly cheap if possible. This would just be a system that is for backup ONLY, and really nothing else. Does anybody have anything like this going on now that they could walk me through how they set it up? Also, if you do this, do you backup EVERYTHING on your "daily driver" unRAID box, or just some things? Thoughts?
  22. And that is the scary part! As somebody posted earlier, the source code has been posted of at least one of the variants of this virus, so things could get pretty hairy sooner rather than later. I am going to look at what I can do this weekend, because my wife could end up doing the same thing to our data. I cannot afford to lose all our recent baby pictures. Looks like a physical backup is in order for this weekend.
  23. I was wondering about this. Currently my only backup solution is a crash plan nightly backup to an offsite computer, which I do not own if we want to get technical. It's only my very important family memories that are being backed up right now. Would that help me in this case though? Doesn't crash plan save several versions of the files as they are being changed? If this is true, wouldnt you be able to roll back to the good files once the virus was removed? It is horrible that this happened to you, but I think it's very good that we are having this discussion as a result. It makes us all look at how we are doing our backups. I'd love another machine that does my backups, and ideally that box should be offsite, but I'm a little short on the $$ to make it work like that right now. It will happen one day though.
  24. AHHH, I am sorry about that man. I should have looked first. I had it bookmarked from using it so often. I guess I will be removing it now. I would imagine your wife had a network drive mapped on her computer that caused this? This has been my experience in my environment anyhow.... I would get rid of that network drive mapping right away!!
  25. My place of business has been hit with this many times. Thanks to DR efforts not much was really lost except my time. There are two security firms that got their hands on a few cryptowall keys and it MIGHT help you. Cannot promise this will recover all or any of your files, but I have had a few users who had success with this site... Give it a try. This was from a botnet that was taken down. These security firms recovered a few of the encryption keys in that process. However there are a few different forms of the cryptowall and cryptolocker viruses and who knows which one you might have. https://www.decryptcryptolocker.com
