  1. Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll continue checking eBay and Craigslist.
  2. I'm trying to help a friend recover some important data from a Western Digital 160GB Caviar SE WD1600 SATA hard drive. We've determined that the logic board is bad, so we're looking for a working logic board from the same model drive. The model number listed on the drive is WD1600JD-22HBC0. The barcode on the logic board says "2061 - 701267 - 200 AL XS 2C63 0YFY 9 0001030 6031" Does anyone know if this will even work?
  3. The MIR expires on 7/31/11. Any problems using this drive connected to SATA II 3.0 Gb/s ports?
  4. I have the original Antec 900 case and it's a tad bit tight IMO, is this 902 V3 any larger than the 900? Any other benefits to upgrading that you are aware of?

  8. I've been using that board for over a month with six WD20EARS drives. No problems at all. Good choice IMO.
  9. I have been running the MSI H55M-ED55 (Newegg) for a month straight in order to clear it for level two certification. Quick Specs: Core i7 / i5 / i3 / Pentium (LGA1156) Intel H55 Chipset 4 x DDR3 Dual-Channel Memory Slots 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 Expansion Slots 1 x PCI Express x1 Expansion Slot 6 x SATA II 3.0Gb/s Ports Gigabit Ethernet I've had six drives running on unRAID Plus 4.7 in the following configuration: MSI H55M-ED55 Intel Core i3 550 4GB DDR3 1333 (Re-used from my HP Elite 7100 MT) SeaSonic X650 Gold 6 x WD20EARS (1 Parity, 5 Data - No jumpers) I'm attaching my syslog for the past month (March 14th - April 14th). I ran successful parity checks at the beginning and end of that month timespan. I definitely moved well over 10% of data to and from the array. The syslog might show a few network disconnects, but that is due to me swapping out the switch that the server was connected to. My house also lost power a few times, so I got to see my battery backup unit go to work. This is my first build and I couldn't be happier with this setup. syslog.txt
  10. I got one last month as indicated earlier in this thread and I can confirm that mine does not have a fan. I think it was the older variants of this model that had a fan.
  11. If you live near a Micro Center, you can get this processor in-store for $99.
  12. Thanks OP! Snagged a spare WD20EARS along with an external enclosure that I've been eyeing for a few weeks.
  13. If you have a MicroCenter in your area, they have the Intel Core i3 550 for $99. http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0350692
  14. Thanks! I ordered one of these over the weekend. Can't wait to install it in a LackRack (http://wiki.eth-0.nl/index.php/LackRack).
  15. Have you looked at Monoprice.com? http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10232#1023212
  16. That is FANTASTIC! I'm so doing this. I think I'll stack two of them and use the top of the bottom table to help support the equipment.
  17. +1 on the better case. I have the 900 and I find that it's cramped using the stock hard drive bays. I can't imagine using it with a non-modular PSU and 5-in-3 cages. Also, the link you provided for the Icy Dock cages threw me off since it points to the 4-in-3's and not the 5-in-3's. You have the model number correct in your post, but the link is wrong.
  18. FYI, I recently picked up a Core i3 550 at Micro Center for $99. I'm pretty sure the price hasn't changed. EDIT: I just checked and it's still $99, but only for in-store pickup.
  19. Got it. That make much more sense. Thanks for all of the replies guys.
  20. So does that mean the cache drive can be formatted as NTFS and still be recognized by unRAID?
  21. Have you had a chance to evaluate the Norco 5-in-3 cage? I'm very interested in purchasing some of these and I'd like to know what you think of them before ordering. Thanks. EDIT: Nevermind, after considering that the cost of four 5-in-3 cages is more than the Norco 4220 case, I'm going to return my Lian Li PC-A77F case and order the Norco 4220 case.
  22. Chuck, how much is Seasonic charging you for the extra modular cables, if you don't mind me asking?
  23. Can it handle TrueHD and DTS-HD audio tracks in the MKV container? What about LPCM in MKV?
  24. I've been curious as to how unRAID would know to shut down when running on battery backup without software, and now I know that there's an add-on for it in unMENU. I'm waiting for some parts to arrive for my first build and I will definitely be checking out unMENU once I get things going. Thanks for the writeup.
