I'm getting ready to use my server as a networking bridge, as this guide suggests:
Is this a security issue if network traffic from this computer passes though the nic?
My HDD is 500gb, while the available space on the drive is 2.4 TB. I also have the "Time Machine volume size limit" set at 510000. There is currently a bundle in there prior to functionality dropping off. I'm considering deleting the share and just redoing it, and adding in the service again, should it not generate correctly, unless someone else has an idea.
I have also encounted this issue, but more recently, I can't remember if it was after an Catalina 10.15.5 update or just random. I can confirm in the TM cfg file, "shareFruit" is set to no, as well as the method above, creating the service manually, will allow for TM to see the service, but I'm receiving an error message once enter the login credentials. I placed the service file into /etc/avahi/services, Unraid is current / up-to-date 6.8.3.
I found an odd issue, while preclearing a 8tb red via usb, it will pause/stop after 27 hours. After stopping the preclear and starting/resuming the preclear, it will start moving again.
I started a preclear after installing the gfjardim plugin. I was able to stop the array and restart it by assigning and unassigning the disk. The preclear, stalled or timed out, so I restarted the sever. After rebooting my server and resuming the preclear via gfjardim plugin, despite checking to make sure all other slots are still unassigned, it still says I have too many disks assigned to the array to start the server. I have tried assigning and unassigning the disk on all available options, but nothing allows me to restart the server. Do note, I’m preclearing the drive via usb, rather than a sata port. I’m out of available ports, which is why I’m doing this via usb. Any ideas?
I would like to have a notification pushed when something is written to a specific share (using one of the 3rd party notifiers or SMTP). This could be helpful for security cameras, baby monitors, other various downloads/uploads, and I'm sure something else I'm not thinking of.
I suppose this is more of a question than an issue, and I wasn't quite sure where this belonged, so I'm placing it in general. On to the question, I was wondering, is it possible to have a notification pushed when something is written to a specific share (using one of the 3rd party notifiers)?
What I'm trying to do is have a local security camera write the file to a specific share, then notify me that something was written to that share. I don't want to have camera internet facing for obvious reasons, and I figured a safer way of being notified would be to do something like this.
Anyone have any other ideas?
The drive looks great! Enjoy it. (I'll bet you looked at those RAW numbers for the read and seek error rates? Don't! They mean nothing to us, only to the manufacturers, and they are typical of Seagates. What's important for the error rates is the VALUE, and both are perfect!)
Agree. Seagate reports several values that other manufacturers simply don't show -- these are among those (along with high fly writes). You can ignore the raw values (ALL drives have errors that are corrected by ECC) ==> the only thing that matters is the "Value" ... if these are good, the drive's fine.
Sweet! Your right, that's what I was looking at! Thank you both, for your help!
I have a report I would like for you guys to look at (attached), I might be miss reading it, but it doesn't look very good. I picked this up used for $50, so I could pass it up. Please let me know.
Thanks!
