  1. Thank you for your help just discovered shellcheck.net the other day ... helps me greatly. I’ll give it a try yes I was changing the permissions on the fuse file system, my mistake. Can I do this to files on the cache drive? And then will the mover still be able to move the files? if not I’ll change it so the share is set to skip the cache drive.
  2. Hello, Recently iTunes has started deleting my podcasts in a rather random way ... might be filename related. iTunes will download free content, then randomly delete certain files ... it always seems to end up deleting the same ones and keeping the same others. I started tracking changes in my iTunes share Via inotifywait and hoped if I did a chmod a-w on newly downloaded files after a CLOSE event I could stop iTunes from deleting them. The share is secure setting security with the iTunes user having read/write permissions. Fewer files are getting deleted, but the permissions change hasn’t stopped them disappearing. How do I stop iTunes from deleting files in this share after the writable permission has been cleared? thanks for your time, Bobby
  3. Hello, I have some scripts on the flash drive under a custom directory. they worked ... have upgraded a few times since ... now they don’t work. I get “-bash: ./directory.watch.sh: Permission denied” when I try “chmod +x directory.watch.sh” there’s no error, but the permissions don’t change. do I need to use sudo now? thanks for your time, bobby
  4. I'm sorry ... the command in question was completing without error until last month ... not it's erroring out ... because it was never supposed to work.
  5. Hello not sure if this is where I report this Since around the start of October 2018 when I copy files from my Windows 7 pro system to unRaid 6.6.2 I'm getting the modified and created times set to the modified time. Windows 7 computer to windows 7 computer the files are copying with original file created and modified times with no issues. Going from windows 7 to unraid the file created times seem to get lost. Programs that try to access or set a files created time seem to error out. I've tried fastcopy.exe, teracopy, and various incarnations of the touch command ported or written for windows. I'll look for a windows version of rsync ... none seem to be working ... I'm running SageTV and it gets confused if the created and modified times are off. Thanks for your time, Bobby
  6. Currently I can't get a recycle.bin working on either of my UnRaid arrays ... 6.6.0-rc3 wrote a script that generates a bunch of files with single, double and triple character extensions (upper and lower case letters with numbers) ... it generates about 242,234 files four characters is over a million files ... that might take an hour or two to delete from Windows 7 Here's the script for the brave ... it's pretty bad ... took me 45 minutes of googling When my arrays start co-operating again I'll give it another try I put it on disk5 in my case under a directory called recycle.test and with a sub directory called test.directory and hopefully makes a file named listing.before.delete.txt After which one would then delete the generated files and do a new directory listing with ls -1a to a file called listing.after.delete.txt and then do a diff between them Hopefully my variable names aren't too mangled #!/bin/bash dirroot=/mnt/disk5/recycle.test dirtest=$dirroot/test.directory for c1 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do filename=1one extention=$c1 printf "%s\n" "$dirtest/$filename.$extention" touch $dirtest/$filename.$extention done read -rsp $'1 - Press enter to continue...\n' for c1 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do for c2 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do filename=2two extention=$c1$c2 printf "%s\n" "$dirtest/$filename.$extention" touch $dirtest/$filename.$extention done done read -rsp $'2 - Press enter to continue...\n' for c1 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do for c2 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do for c3 in {A..Z} {a..z} {0..9} do filename=3three extention=$c1$c2$c3 printf "%s\n" "$dirtest/$filename.$extention" touch $dirtest/$filename.$extention done done done read -rsp $'3 - Press enter to continue...\n' ls -1a $dirtest >$dirroot\listing.before.delete.txt read -rsp $'Press enter to continue...\n' read -rsp $'Press enter to continue...\n' read -rsp $'Press enter to continue...\n' Thanks for your time, Bobby
  7. I mentioned something a few months back about certain file extensions just disappearing on deletion and not being recycled. I was considering writing a script to generate all three letter file extensions and see how many got recycled ... but then I realized unRaid isn’t running on dos 3.0.
  8. Hello, just a near impossible request I want to wipe my old unRaid flash drive to set up my data.storage unRaid array again I'm not sure if something is messed up in the settings somewhere so I would like to selectively restore the settings and 'system' files Since the 6.3.5 series started it's been locking up hard requiring pressing the reset button and an array rebuild if I run any VM's that max the VM's chosen processors I wanted to know if there is a way to save or print all my old settings automatically? In the past I would print all pages with non-default values ... but sometimes would miss an important page I tried saving the unRaid server website with wget -m -p -E -k 192.168.0.96 but when I try browsing it various parts are missing (shares aren't listed on the webpages) I've also tried with HHTrack but I'm not sure what options will get the whole 'website' in the way I want Ideally I would like to be able to click on the offline copy of the unraid servers website and see the snapshot it took at the time I ran the backup. I'm not sure if there is an easy way to print all non default settings in unraid ... or save them Thanks for your time, Bobby
  9. Hello Squid, I would really appreciate if you could update this plugin I would be fine with having to manually restart the array after a ransomware detection if all it can take is visiting a site with a bad advert ... https://blog.malwarebytes.com/threat-analysis/2015/04/booby-trapped-hugo-boss-advert-spreads-cryptowall-ransomware/ I spent several weeks years ago fighting with facebook over an advertising site they had in their ad rotation with a hijacked robots.txt file It led to a website locking up your browser and claiming your computer was infected ... and their answer was cool you tracked down all the involved ip's and url's down ... we could care less about protecting you from this it's not our job and not our problem ... not our website ... they suggested maybe I just put the url's in my hosts file as 127.0.0.1 I asked about all the users that might fall for that scam in question. Facebook's stance on this issue may have changed since ... but at the time I was pretty angry. Thanks for your time, and putting up with my rant ... Bobby
  10. okay I have an empty 2TB drive on the backup server so instead of just sending the data to /dev/null I will rsync it over via rsync -aihrvn --stats --progress /mnt/disks/WDC_WD20EARX-00PASB0_WD-WCAZAK497085/ /mnt/disks/WDC_WD20EARS-00J2GB0_WD-WCAYY0032646/ which may be a more constructive test
  11. both drives finished their self tests eventually am trying a quick dd to dev null from each drive sorry for the delays ... I'm working nights and have been terribly tired all week
  12. the original drive that failed that was connect to a aoc-saslp-mv8 is a 2TB WD EARX and is at 90% in its extended selftest after 10 hours the second drive that failed that was connected to the GA-990FXA-UD7 motherboard port passed its extended selftest in under 6 hours would it be worth trying a conveyance test on both in the morning ? will try a dd from the one that passed its self test to /dev/null to see if it has problems under heavy read conditions
  13. the drives that dropped out of the array are both in my backup server with the aoc-saslp2-mv8's running extended self tests ... if the drives are good in that server I may swap all the drives from one system to the other the second failed drive was attached to the gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7 motherboard sata ports
  14. doh ... sorry ... it doesn't help when i forget the "n't" in wouldn't makes things more complicated for everyone there were about five dead drives that wouldn't make it through a preclear ... two of those would lock up any of my servers completely until removed and the system rebooted I have one unRaid with 23 drives for mostly media utilizing aoc-saslp-mv8s from when they were in vogue the other server for system backups has 11 drives in the array and 7 drives as unassigned devices after removing from the main array or from my esxi 5 system utilizing aoc-saslp2-mv8s from when they were in vogue there were two others that made it through a preclear with most of their errors stabilized after
  15. I never had the drive dropping issue ... atleast not enough that it could be considered an issue ... most times I've rebuilt the array the drive that needed replacing would make it through a preclear dropped back to 6.4.1 and will try data rebuild again ... after I was going to try reading the drive in another server with dd if=/dev/sdx of=/dev/null to see if it can do that without error would this be suggested?
  16. would it be possible to run a dd /dev/sds to /dev/null to see if the drive errors when not doing a parity check?
  17. That drive will be on a backplane connected a multilane cable that breaks out to motherboard data ports the original drive that died will be on a backplane to multilane cable to an aoc-saslp-mv8 it has a xfx power supply (that came with a mis/cross wired 4 pin molex connector i reseated all the drives and it occured again will try reseating all motherboard connections
  18. Stopped it rebooted it one drive was attempting to rebuild drive 8 is missing Monthly parity checks no smart warnings on this array one drive parity two drives died within twelve hours will power down for the day and start looking at it tomorrow
  19. Here's the last diagnostics I could get storage-diagnostics-20180320-1307.zip
  20. it was having a read error every 8 sectors ... I just upgraded to 6.5.0 a few days before this happened trying to get diagnostics to save ... but it's not cooperating
  21. Hello Curious what I should do I'm getting 65000000 read errors on a different disk during a data rebuild can i stop it reboot and try again thanks for your time, Bobby
  22. Hello, I had a disk disable last night after 350 inode locked errors on a resierfs disk while at work last night I'm on unraid 6.5.0 When I got home the webui couldn't access the array so I ssh'd in and powerdown 'd the server I replaced the drive and am currently rebuilding the drive in question I have no samba access to the server ... is this still normal for an array during a data rebuild? Thanks for your time, Bobby
  23. It appears the mover started before I started the array rebuild? I have the mover set not to start during parity checks at least, but to attempt to run every hour will the mover run during parity rebuilding? it said mover disabled earlier but in process of moving so I guess the mover was grinding away incredibly slowly and when that finished the array progress indication started moving again sorry for that just wanted to make sure the parity rebuild hadn’t halted thanks for your help bobby
  24. I've hit ctrl-F5 and navigated away from the page and back ... loaded it in a new tab (all on chrome though so far) Elapsed time , Current position, Estimated speed, Estimated finish all seem to be stuck is there a mdcmd command that might update the location the WebGUI is reading the information from?
  25. Hello I'm on UnRaid 6.4.1 I had a drive failure over the weekend I started rebuilding it this morning but the WebGUI reports that I'm at 4.2% for the last thirty minutes The read(s) and write rate are in the 85MB/s range, but it continues reporting that the rebuild process is at 4.2% I tried mdcmd status | egrep "mdResync|mdState|sbSync" which returned sbSynced=1519148002 sbSyncErrs=0 sbSynced2=0 sbSyncExit=0 mdState=STARTED mdResyncAction=recon D7 mdResyncSize=2930266532 mdResyncCorr=1 mdResync=2930266532 mdResyncPos=330004368 mdResyncDt=30 mdResyncDb=2580396 and the mdResyncPos number is growing "rapidly" I just wanted to be sure the rebuild is continuing as it appears to be at 14.06% Thanks for your time, Bobby storage-diagnostics-20180220-1055.zip
