  1. I -emailed them on 3/11 about the same think and never did get a answer back. I ended up ordering parts to make my own which actually saved some money. I didn't get hot swap bays which saved the money, figure its not that big of deal to change drives. Plus I don't need the addon card right now, 6 SATA ports on board is enough so I can get that down the road. But like you I just wanted to support UnRaid if possible and to get the exact same parts as their server they have a great price, I would have bought one. Plus with the extra key I could have kept my existing server as is for another use.
  2. I will look through the setting and check them all out. I only have a single strip 2gig memory coming, hope that isn't a problem. I know some boards require that they memory be in pairs. Nothing will be here until Monday so I got all weekend to move data around Just looking at the Biostar site it does list this board as having an IDE port, can you confirm this? NewEgg doesn't list it. If that is the case I only need to get rid of one of the 3 IDE drive that I have, makes life easier for me, not as much data to move around.
  3. Sounds good, I will make sure the Flux-Capacitor is activated also....... This is going to be nice booting from USB, booting from a floppy now, man am I moving up in the world. Before you know it I will have a color TV too.
  4. Has anyone done any direct comparison with the 5900rpm to the 7200rpm version? As far as speed and power usage is what I was thinking. I thought about getting one of these yesterday but got the 7200rpm instead, because I have 4 already and it was only $10 more.
  5. Do I need to make any changes to BIOS setting to use this for UnRaid or just run it out of the box?
  6. I am putting together an order right now using the TA785G combo deal, and actually the DDR3 memory is exactly the same price and it 1066 instead of the DDR2 800. Looks like I will have $470 in it including a 1.5TB drive. I was going to reuse my old case and power supply but decided to go all new using the list and the budget build list, thanks for the link. Ended up being cheaper then getting the RB-1200 so that is good too.
  7. Any idea how the BIOSTAR TA785G3HD would compare? NewEgg has a combo deal with the Sempron 140 Sargas 2.7GHz
  8. I don't figure on getting a board to work with my 478 CPU, was more of a joke then anything. Right now I have to use the PCI card because that is all my mother board has. For right now I need to handle 5 SATA drives with room to grow. I will look into these boards, thanks for the thoughts. I would like to stay away from the Gigabyte boards because I just don't want to worry about dealing with a HPA problem, I am sure they are probably fine but I want to keep it simple and easy.
  9. Ha I was just looking at the same thing and came here to ask
  10. I have been waiting and waiting for the RB-1200's to come back but I have heard nothing of when that will be, that is want I really wanted. So plan B was to buy another PCI card to support more drives in my current server. Right now I have no onboard SATA and only a 10/100 LAN, I have a 4 Port SATA PCI card, the server is full of drive and out of space. Well then I was thinking that instead of spending $60 on another PCI card maybe I would be better off sticking that money in a new mother board and CPU, seems to make more sence. So if you had to buy right now what mother board would you buy that would be available. I want atleast 6 onboard SATA and though maybe a dual LAN would be useful if UnRaid will support it. Better yet one that will support my old socket 478 CPU !!
  11. I see this is the lower 5900 rpm drive. How would this compare to the original 7200 rpm drive. I have 4 of the 7200's now.
  12. I will think about it, like I said I can't fit it in my server right now any way. Waiting for some more RB-1200's to become available. I could put it in my PC to test it I suppose but that is just extra hassle.
  13. As long as it isn't the parity drive this would't cause much of a performance problem would it? I currently have 4 of these (7200 rpm version) and was thinking of getting another but I have no room to put it in my server. So I hate to get it if I can't use it and test it right away.
  14. It is an old Asus P4T533-C mother board (no on board SATA). The NIC is onboard and that is it. I don't even remeber what the graphics card is but it was a gammer card at the time. Older Antec case with 3 fans plus a fan on the 3 in 1 cage. Pentium 4 2.26gz. The fans run full speed all the time, no control for them. I knew that this wasn't a very efficent set-up, I was just wonder how bad it was.
  15. After it sat for awhile now about 30 minutes I see that it is down to 96 watts and jumped to 144 when all spinning. Spun them down and dropped right back to 96. I don't know, I didn't tuch it. Maybe it was just stuck for a bit
  16. Just curious what people are getting for energy usage on their servers. I just got one of these Kill-A-Watt deals and have been checking stuff. My Unraid box is using 121.8 watts all drives spun down. Funny thing is that when I spin up all drives (4 SATA and 3 IDE) it says it is using exactly the same. My normal windows machine is in the 115 area. Wondering if I would see any power savings with the RB-1200 server This all translates into $8.40 a month to run it.
  17. Can some one give me a quick answer to how more RAM effects UnRaid. Doesn't seem like a real memory hog, but will 2gig -vrs- 1 gig make any difference when serving up Blu-Ray?
  18. I have a Frakenbox now built from an old antec case and Asus board with no SATA ports and a P4 processor. Currently I have 7 drive in it, 4 - 1.5tb and 3 120gig. I would dump the 120gig's to open up room for more SATA drives. So 12 bays is more then enough to keep me going for a long time, by that time something new will be along....
  19. My server is running fine and I have no problems but it is getting fuller and I know it day is coming (all old components) I see their is this new RB-1200 server on the home page and it looks like a good price. I don't know a great deal about what makes a good server and what doesn't so I was looking for some imput on this thing. What are the pros and cons compared to their other servers?
  20. hi your router and your server have the same ip, your router has a web interface on port 80, did you try to correct this ? Sorry that was a typo, router is 192.168.77.1 too many numbers in my head......
  21. Well I thought I might have found my problem but not. The router DHPC was set to start at the same IP as the server, though maybe it was making a conflict but it shouldn't give out the address when it is in use I think. Either way I changed it and it didn't seem to help. Linksys WRV200 Router TrendNet P24C6 Switch TrendNet P24C6 Patch Panel All Cat6 wired A Standard Router IP 192.168.77.1 Computers are all static 192.168.77.10-20 Printer Static192.168.77.50 Server is Static IP 192.168.77.100 Router DHPC is set to start at 192.168.77.101-110 I have tried eliminating the switch and hooking direct to the router, no change. I am going to try and swith the cable to the server now. I am actually going to swap it with the one running to my PC which has been no problem. It will also use a different port on the switch that way. Update....... Switch cable different port in wall total different cabling and no help. I agree that is does seem like I network thing. But right no I can get into the UnMenu Web GUI but not the normal UnRaid GUI, and that has happend before. Even if I click on "unRaid Main" in UnMenu is doesn't come up. Got another SYSLOG
  22. Yes, please reboot. These things sometimes happen where a small timing change in the linux kernel or a NIC driver causes little 'glitches' to show up. I'll end up putting a better fix in, but for now I'd like to verify this is the problem. I was editing my other post while you were posting. Anyway I was wondering what the safe way is to reboot when I can't get at the web interface. I can telnet but don't know the commands. I have mad the chage to the go script Thank You From telnet or console, type these commands: killall emhttp emhttp & This will kill the webGui process and then re-start it. Hopefully you will be able to now communicate with the webGui in order to Stop and Reboot. If not, I'll give more instructions. Well I did manage to get into the web interface and stop the array and reboot it. Now I can't get into the web interface (IP or by Name) or Telnet. Sometimes I can get into the files through windows for a little bit. I can ping it all the time no problem. Also these problems were happening before I jumped to 4.5 so I don't want you to think it is something with 4.5, I was just thinking maybe I would get lucky and 4.5 would fix what ever is happening. So right now I can even get you a syslog....... Scratch that all of the sudden I got in long enough to get a log, took a couple of trys though
