Performance problem with a gaming VM
hi, i had similar issue (games working poorly in windows VM with passthrough GPU), I tried the recommendations in this thread and various other threads without help (i tried the timesource setup, disable hyperv in VM definition & inside the guest i disabled services, migration off, providing rom file to the gpu, etc) and i fixed it by adding the emulatorpin tag in the xml pointing to the core 0 and it's thread. Somehow the template for windows 10 or windows 11 does not include this emulatorpin tag, the moment i added it manually in the xml it solved the issue. BTW, i'm having an older Xeon E5 v3.

Custom docker network on vlan
Did you try with macvlan driver? Also, can you share how did you configure your interface for the vlan? Did you allocate an IP to it? Did you also try to create the particular custom network from the GUI Page of the Docker Settings? As the ones defined from cli are not persisting...

VM Creation Issues
do you have older vm's that are still working? or experiencing issues with all your current vm's? diagnostics are available in tools menu.

VM Creation Issues
not sure, but i would start sharing the diagnostics and a bit of background. for example, only this distro having issue? first time creating a VM and encountering this issue? passingthrough anything to that VM? have you tried with both seabios and ovmf? can you try selecting different options for the VNC?

VIDEO GUIDE***How to pass through an NVIDIA GPU as primary or only gpu in unRAID
@hblockx - some motherboards allow selection of primary GPU, from a bios option. Some add this option only in newer versions of the bios. Mine does not (asus x99-m ws) yet and as a result, the slot 1 card is used to output the boot vga, and this is the card where unraid console is displayed. Once i start a VM using this primary card, the console output is taken for displaying the video output of that VM. And it's never returned back to unraid, even if VM stopped, until the unraid gets restarted.

VIDEO GUIDE***How to pass through an NVIDIA GPU as primary or only gpu in unRAID
@gridrunner - thank you for the awesome tutorials @rahool - i assume your friend has unraid already (or similar meanings to dump), so yes... The rom is specific to the GPU model/vendor, so it's independent of your/your friend's PC. No harm, it will either not work to pass through the GPU, or will not display the video output [properly], or worst case will freeze the unraid box and you'll probably need to powercycle/reset it (e.g. power your PC down, then power it up). My suggestion is to try first what i dumped, before attempting to do it yourself... Just so that you know, my card is the mini version (exact item model number ZT-P10610A-10L) and based on your SFF intention i assume this is the one you want. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500405&cm_re=zotac_1060_mini_3g-_-14-500-405-_-Product Saying this, because there are other 3gb versions available, like AMP (at least i see this model in europe market), but who knows, probably they have same rom... -d

rahool, nobody confirmed so far that the dump for zotac 1060 3g mini works for them. lack of evidence does not means it's not working, it's just that probably nobody tried it yet, or bothered to reply it's fine. gridrunner, here's is the rom for zotac 1050ti oc 4g (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500410&cm_re=zotac_1050ti_4g_oc-_-14-500-410-_-Product) http://www.filedropper.com/zotac1050tioc4g -d

Unassigned Devices - Managing Disk Drives and Remote Shares Outside of The Unraid Array
dlandon, guys... I'm a bit confused... multiple questions following: I have a 250GB sata ssd, passed through to a win 10 vm and used to host the system partition and to boot the Wind 10 from it - basically my only drive for this VM. in UD it appears as not mounted (gray button). 1) should it be? I understand that xfs and etx4 partitions are mounted by default with discard (trim) But this is ntfs. 2) it means that trim for ntfs is not enabled? Because I get in windows this output when running the check for trim - command prompt(admin): C:\Windows\system32>fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify NTFS DisableDeleteNotify = 0 ReFS DisableDeleteNotify is not currently set first line for ntfs - sounds like trim enabled 3) but second line is a bit confusing - what does it mean? thanks -d

Performance Improvements in VMs by adjusting CPU pinning and assignment
1812 i empirically test by moving the mouse across the screen, in various applications and games, when CPU load is high I also noticed in a linux VM (connected to it via VNC), that the mouse lagged terribly, when going over some web page links - something that was affecting also the VM that initiated the VNC session. But this was before passing through the entire usb controller with the unifying receiver attached to it and implementing the cpu pinning guides. After that, such mouse lag reduced a lot. -d

***GUIDE*** Passthrough Entire PCI USB Controller
ekim, same issue here, on my x99-m ws from asus i have 4 controlles: 2 controllers are internal, no physical usb sockets exists. 1 controller is having all the usb 2 and 3.0, including the front i/o usb, internal usb (a small socket on the mobo where you could plug a cable and take it out via a bracket at the back of the case) - in total i think there are about 10 USB's - there are 2 buses here, on same IOMMU which does not support reset. unRaid flash is plugged here. so not suitable for passthrough. 1 controller is 3.1 - i was able to passthrough this one to my Windows VM without issues (unfortunately it has only 2 plugs so i need an extra usb 3.0 hub) i was also surprised why so few controlles for so many ports! but apparently this is common for the motherboards. Only solution that i could find is to add USB pcie controller (e.g. PCIE x1) - so my next purchase will be one of these...

Performance Improvements in VMs by adjusting CPU pinning and assignment
that's the same behaviour i got till i did the cpu pinning based on your guide, and i also did passthrough for the entire USB controller (onboard 3.1) to the Windows VM. After that it reduced a lot, and only sometimes i could notice there's some very mild mouse lag... but will try to reduce it to 5/10, and see if it makes it even better. thanks!
