  1. But I am already using port 8080 for something else. Won't that cause contention for that port since that is one of the defaults for the ports? When I go to tower:8080 it hits my SageTV web UI. If I install this docker with defaults I am pretty sure that tower:8080 may now try to go to the Unifi web UI.
  2. Thanks, that is what I had to do although my screen looks slightly differently. I moved the USB device up to the top of Hard Drive BBS Priorities and then I was able to select it as Boot Option #1. p.s To me BBS means Bulletin Board Service which was kind of the closest thing to the internet in the days of dial up modems in the early 1990s.
  3. Hi, I need help configuring the Unifi Controller docker. I am new to unRAID but I have been running the Unifi controller for a couple of years under Windows. I am currently running 3.2.7 on a 32 bit Windows 7 installation with five APs. In my current Unifi system.properties file there are only the following lines that aren't commented out: is_default=false unifi.http.port=8888 uuid=9512799f-7e23-4d29-b013-3XXXXXXXX When I look at the default system.properties it shows: # each unifi instance requires a set of ports: # # unifi.http.port=8080 # device inform # unifi.https.port=8443 # controller UI / API # portal.http.port=8880 # portal redirect port for HTTP # portal.https.port=8843 # portal redirect port for HTTPs # unifi.db.port=27117 # local-bound port for DB server So am I correct in assuming that in the docker setup Host Port 1 maps to unifi.http.port, Host Port 2 maps to portal.http.port, Host Port 3 maps to unifi.https.port, Host Port 4 maps to portal.https.port and Host Port 5 maps to unifi.db.port? Is this documented anywhere? For my existing Win based controller I access my controller via a web browser at port 8443 although I always get complaints about certificates. If I try to access at http - 8888 it seems to redirect to https - port 8443. So, what settings should I enter for the ports in the docker config? I can't use 8080 as that is already being used by the SageTV docker contain for its web UI. So should I continue to use 8888, assuming that it doesn't conflict with anything else on docker? So once I get all of this setup then what is the process? Do I forget them on my Windows controller and adopt them on my Docker Controller? I don't know if this makes a difference but I have my Access Points set up as static IPs of 192.168.1.2-6 rather than use DHCP.
  4. Thanks guys I will try this. @johnnie For the boot priority order list it only lists the hard drives plus the UEFI USB stick, not the non-UEFI USB stick. That is one of the issues as if will not boot off of the UEFI USB stick. There is a screen where you can sort of drag and drop the drives around but I don't think the USB stick is on that screen.
  5. My newly built unRAID server uses the above mentioned mobo. When you go into the BIOS/UEFI screen by pressing the DEL key upon boot there is a Boot option when you press F8 from the initial BIOS screen. When I press F8 and go into this menu it shows one or more hard drives plus "UEFI-Sony USB" and "Sony-USB" When I select Sony-USB it boots fine. The problem is when I go into Advanced BIOS mode and try to set the Boot order. The non-UEFI USB drive does not show up, I only get the UEFI-USB and the hard drives. So I always have to be in front of the machine to get it to reboot back into unRAID. Does anyone have a solution for this? I have tried changing a few settings for the USB but no luck so far. My next step will be to try to update the BIOS. I have never had this issue before as I never had to boot into USB rather than on a one-off basis for doing OS installs.
  6. Was there ever anything written to help with this? I am only a couple of days into using unRAID and I see how this could be an issue as I have had 2-3 dockers want to use port 8080.
  7. I redid my dockers. How do you tell that they are corrupt?
  8. Ok, - but there was nothing on this disk as the system was just turned on last night. The only data on the drives was about 5 movies that I transferred over from another drive.
  9. Ok, I went to Tools | New Config and built a new config without that drive for now. The parity is now rebuilding which is forecasted to take about another 9 hours. Was that the right way to remove a drive?
  10. I shutdown, checked out the cables and rebooted. Disk 1 is still disabled. Here is a new diagnostics. Should I remove the drive? hoylake-diagnostics-20170123-1745.zip
  11. Yes I have and there are four hits in Network Services: FTP Clients / Servers. But it isn't clear which ones, if any, support this functionality although I am pretty sure that Filezilla doesn't as its author is strangely hostile to the whole concept of multi-segment FTPs.
  12. I often FTP files from a VPS in Europe to my home in Canada. I find that with applications like FileZilla I will cap out at about 2.5MBps per file (aka 20Mbps), which is well below my internet capacity of 250Mbps. Under Windows I have been using Bitkenix which uses multi-segment downloads and I get speeds up to around 8-9Mbps - not bad but still using less than a third of my bandwidth. But I am happy with that speed and would like to be able to transfer files directly into unRAID. Are there any clients for unRAID that use multi-segments to speed up FTPs? I believe lftp can do muti-segments but is it command line only or is there a front end for it?
  13. I run OpenVPN server on my router so I am using that to access my LAN. My laptop (and mobile devices) have OpenVPN client
  14. To be honest I haven't really put many files on the disk. I copied over a few movies last night to the media share before that disappeared. Right now when I try to do an ls on /mnt I get: bin/ls: cannot access 'user 0': Input/output error bin/ls: cannot access 'disk 1': Input/output error
  15. I will do that when I get home which won't be for a few hours. There is no data to speak of on the drives. But shouldn't I be able to use the system with a valid parity disk and a valid data disk, even if one disk is offline?
  16. I am setting up a new system - it has a brand new 4TB drive as parity, a 250GB SSD as cache and and two 2TB drives for data - these drives were recycled from other PCs. I was able to start setting up my system and I created a share called media. One of the two 2TB drives has been disabled by unRAID. Ever since then my media (and a couple of other shares) have disappeared and I cannot add a new share as when I try to create one it says "Share media has been deleted". Why can't I create a share as I still have a parity drive and a working data drive? My system log shows a ton of errors that look like this: Jan 23 11:19:09 Hoylake kernel: BTRFS error (device loop0): bdev /dev/loop0 errs: wr 6507, rd 2552, flush 1, corrupt 0, gen 0 Jan 23 11:19:09 Hoylake kernel: loop: Write error at byte offset 2427752448, length 4096. 17. That did it - to quote Roberto diVicenzo "What a stupid I am !"
  18. It was FAT32 and I did make bootable as Admin, but the label wasn't "UNRAID", it was "unRAID 624" - could that be causing the issue?
  19. Ok, here is my diagnostics file. tower-diagnostics-20170122-0835.zip
  20. I am trying to set up a new server for unRAID. It boots up into unRAID ok but then I am unable to access the web GUI. The error that I get is "192.168.1.99 refused to connect" I am able to access the computer from other PCs using telnet or ssh. I have tried accessing the unRAID machine for multiple PCs running both Chrome and IE. Yes, the drive is formatted as FAT32. I have now tried two different USB keys in two different USB slots. Any other suggestions on what to try. I tried changing the IP address via DHCP reservation on my router. I get the exact same issue on either USB key or USB port. My motherboard is an Asus P8H67M-EVO. The only thing that is a little weird is that when I go into the boot menu my pressing F8 I see two options for my USB key "Lexar disk" and "UEFI Lexar disk". Only the non-UEFI one works properly. But when I go into the Advanced BIOS properties and select the bootable drives only the UEFI USB key option appears.
  21. Was this pretty straightforward to do or were there any tricks? How much hard drive space did you give WHS for the system partition? And I guess the client backups go into the main unRAID pool?
  22. I am building a new unRAID system to act as a media server in my home. The primary application is to run as a file server and a SageTV server – I will be using the unRAID/Docker version of SageTV. I will also be installing the Dockers for Plex and AirVideoHD but this will be used much less frequently. I will also want to install Ubuntu in a VM and WHS2011 in a VM which I will continue to use for backups of the Windows PC on my LAN. I may be doing some transcoding from time to time as I may use Handbrake to re-encode recorded TV files. And I may want another VM or two to play around with other OSes from time to time. For hard drives I am likely going to buy a new 4TB to use as a parity drive and recycle 3 x 3TB (or similar size) hard drives. I would then likely use one or two 128GB SSDs as cache drives. I would be sure to have my SageTV appdata on this partition to make sure that it runs as quickly as possible. I can recycle the components mentioned above. Will they be suitable? One potential negative is that the mobo only has 2x6Gbps SATA and 4x3Gbps SATA. But if I want more drives it should be easy to add a PCIe SATA controller. Is 16GB enough memory for this system? I currently have 2x4GB sticks in the system and I was going to add 8GB more, although I guess I could go to 24GB by adding 2x8GB. Is mixing RAM sizes an issue? I don’t think it is as long as the specs like timing are the same, or am I wrong here? Anyone have any experience in using this mobo or a similar Asus mobo for unRAID? Anything to be aware of in the UEFI/BIOS settings for virtualization? Anyone know if the mobo’s firewire port would work in unRAID for channel tuning in the SageTV Docker? I read somewhere that there are benefits to using two cache drives – why is that? Here are some of the CPU specs. Do I need the VM stuff that this CPU does not support? Intel® Turbo Boost Technology ‡ 2.0 Intel® vPro Technology ‡ No Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology ‡ No Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) ‡ Yes Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) ‡ No Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT) ‡ Yes Intel® 64 ‡ Yes
  23. I am new to docker and would love to get AirVideo Server working on unRAID. Can someone who has it working post how to do this? I have tried adding https://github.com/dmaxwell351/docker-containers to my template repositories but that didn't help. The maxwell site mentions this command: docker run -d --net=host -v /mnt/user/appdata/airvideohd:/config -v /mnt/user/Media:/videos -v /mnt/user/appdata/airvideohd/temp:/conversionPath --name airvideohd dmaxwell/airvideohd But where do I enter that? In a terminal session? Somewhere in the unRAID gui?
  24. Thanks folks. Johnnie - does everything work for you with restores. WHS had some issues with UEFI restores and I continue to have problems when doing restores like that and I have had to find other ways to restore - like the restore wizard that restores to another Windows client.
  25. I have a system running WHS2011 that is used as a file server and to backup all of the Windows client PCs in my home. I am considering replacing this system with unRAID. Using unRAID as a file server should be simple but is there an application that I can run on unRAID that will back up a Windows system that is running at the time, and then facilitate bare metal backups for times when a SSD/HDD fails?
