  1. i know it doesn't support sli but im just saying that it supports crossfire so it should be able to run gpus in x8 mode and i dont think if i had amd gpus they would just magically run in x8 mode or maybe they would. anyway i just tried disabling my igpu and removed my gtx 750 and its still the same as soon as i run vm on it i end up with no signals on my board. so it looks like its something else entirely
  2. well i just tried selecting x4 in pcie slot configuration (PCH) and its still the same and i cant even find any setting which would let me run my gtx 1070ti in x8 mode. this is weird my motherboard supports crossfire, how are people suppose to use it if one gpu alone is going to take up all pcie lanes and this would mean i cant even add an nvme drive pcie based.
  3. im using igpu as my primary display😅
  4. so if im getting it right then if it works then my gtx 1070ti will running in 8x and gtx 750 will be running in 4x mode, right??
  5. its i7 4790k and as for MOBO its z97d3h motherboard. i know my cpu only supports x16 pcie lanes but my gpus can run on 8x, im not using them for gaming. im only gonna use them gpu transcoding (GTX 1070ti simply because it can transcode more formats) and for windows VM (gtx 750).im only gonna use it for really light which an igpu also can easily handle (i can tell cause from past couple of days it was running through igpu hd 4600) And i dont think pcie gen 3 slots can be bottleneck for either of them while runningin 8x mode. Edit : and i haven't attached any nvme drives or pcie cards, so my pcie lanes are only occupied by those gpus.
  6. hey guys i have been using windows 10 vm from past couple days through my igpu (hd4600) with bios as SEABIOS and it was working just fine but finally today i decided that now that everything is working fine i should put old gtx 750 in it to use it with my windows vm but my monitor is not getting any signals from it. i even tried my gtx 1070 ti which i was using for plex gpu transcoding but same results, no signals. so i guess their is something wrong with my xml file, so if u guys could take a look at it and guide me in the right direction, i would really appreciate it. 7. @itimpi @testdasi Finally !!! guys finally i fixed it. phewww!!! It was simple bios gone bonkers issue, i just reflashed my bios and now IOMMU is showing enabled. Well thanks guys for your suggestions and atleast trying to help me out.
  8. @itimpi @testdasi okay guys today i created a usb for unraid 6.8.0 which i first tried booting on my laptop and on my laptop its was showing iommu enabled but still this new usb was showing iommu disabled on my server. I couldn't test my main usb as it runs on legacy mode and my laptop only allows efi boot mode.
  9. @itimpi and actually as far as i remember, two years back when unraid was still under testing phase for me, when i was it in trial mode i also tested it on this machine. As far as i remember at that time IOMMU was showing up as enabled, so dont why when finally i moved to this, its not working.
  10. i dont see any option for IOMMU unraid-diagnostics-20191217-1919.zip
  11. as you can see in this pic both vt-x and vt-d are enabled and could u explain steps for syslinux.
  12. reboot didn't help but then i tried disabling it after stopping my array and it work. looks like we can only enable or disable vm manager when array is not running, which i didn't know about. any suggestions for IOMMU issue.
  13. okay i noticed another strange thing now, as i was adding cache drives to my server i that vm manager is not disabling (saw in spaceinvader's video that we have to disable dockers and vm manger before starting mover in order to transfer docker and libvert imge files to cache drive). Nothing happens when i select no from dropdown menu and click on apply. i have tried different browsers on different devices same thing happening on all devices.
  14. So guys recently i bought a new laptop and ever since i was thinking about turning my gaming pc into my unraid nas (i already have unraid nas just upgrading it to my gaming pc). Specs of my Gaming PC Mobo z97d3h gigabyte CPU i7 4790k RAM 16 gigs GPU gtx 1070ti everything went fine its just that when i checked info it is still showing IOMMU disabled which was fine for my old nas as it was running off of some crappy h61 board g2020 and 4 gigs of ram but i don't know why its still showing disabled. are their any setting in unraid itself to enable it cause as far as bios, it is enabled in the bios, i have double checked it. please help me figuring this out.
  15. So guys from a long i have been thinking about giving this a try, so today i started using but I'm having some issues with nvidia hw transcoding. Whenever it's transcoding through hw transcoding (NVENC) i end with no compatible stream available error. And if i disable it transcodes through my cpu just fine so could you guys please help me with this.
  16. yup it was loose connection. after a little research i came upon this thread and file check on windows machine was the first thing recommended by @bonienl on that thread so i did that but windows didn't find any errors so i plugged my pen drive back into my server and now its being detected properly and everything is working as it should. Sooooo, thanks for all the help guys.
  17. So guys, couple of weeks back my disk 2 died on me so i wasn't using my server since then today i bought a new drive to replace my disk 2 and as i wasn't using any parity drives the only option i was left with was to set up a new config, so after doing all that i started installing plugins and dockers but soon i realized that my new disk 2 was unmountable cause i forgot a major step that was to format my new drive first (such an idiot i can be sometimes😅). so after realizing my stupid mistake i stopped my array and formatted my disk 2 but i can't start my array now. as you can see in picture below. please if anyone knows or have any idea why this could be happening i would really appreciate your help.
  18. that means somehow that script enabled HWDEC for thumbnail generation. Still its downright dissappointing that plex doesn't support hw acceleration for thumbnail generation. it was one of the main advantage for me. edit : does emby or jellyfin supports it ??
  19. one strange thing that i noticed is that earlier when i was using a script to enable NVDEC for plex it was working for both while watching a video and generating video preview thumbnails but now with latest plex we dont need that script but now NVDEC only works while watching a video, not it is using my cpu again for generating video preview thumbnails.
  20. okay i somehow fixed it, the only wierd thing that i noticed was that somehow on network that i created on myzerotier website had my local ips too under advanced - managed routes. so now its connected, online and everything but still i can't access my server from outside lan. / # /usr/sbin/zerotier-cli info 200 info 98e11feb6d 1.4.6 ONLINE / # /usr/sbin/zerotier-cli listnetworks 200 listnetworks <nwid> <name> <mac> <status> <type> <dev> <ZT assigned ips> 200 listnetworks a0cbf4b62a6f77c6 agitated_baird c6:ef:8e:35:5d:99 OK PUBLIC ztc3qzxqpm 172.22.142.212/16 / # /usr/sbin/zerotier-cli listpeers 200 listpeers <ztaddr> <path> <latency> <version> <role> 200 listpeers 34e0a5e174 147.75.92.2/443;12759;7505 253 - PLANET 200 listpeers 3a46f1bf30 185.180.13.82/443;12759;2499 254 - PLANET 200 listpeers 59f4bc8f9f 192.168.0.140/9993;733;95725 51 1.4.4 LEAF 200 listpeers 67ba976a71 192.168.0.185/9993;733;733 2 1.4.6 LEAF 200 listpeers 778cde7190 103.195.103.66/443;12759;2504 248 - PLANET 200 listpeers 992fcf1db7 195.181.173.159/443;1277;1138 139 - PLANET 200 listpeers a0cbf4b62a 34.94.79.198/21017;1277;1041 240 1.4.1 LEAF / #
  21. Sorry guys as i was coming down with fever i couldn't test that at that time and finally i tried running it again, my whole server became unaccessible. First i reinstalled the docker but then just in seconds my server became unaccessible, i couldn't access the web ui and shares. I had to hard reboot my server then i tried running allmy dockers one by one and finally when i launched zerotier docker, again my server became unaccessible, i couldn't even get ping from it. Basically as soon as zerotier starts running my whole server get dissconected.
  22. could anyone help me with setting this im stuck with requesting configuration on android and not found status on windows and when i enter the command "zerotier-cli info or something" in docker's page i get zerotier-cli not found error.
  23. thanks, could you recommend any other software. i couldn't find any guide or video on how to actually use that thing and it looks pretty old, doesn't even support ahci, looks like it only support serial ATA and IDE.
  24. @johnnie.black @jonathanm @jbartlett ok guys finally finally extended smart test on my disk2 has completed could you guys take a look and let me know does this one needs to be replaced too ?.unraid-smart-20190729-1724.zip
