  1. Hi! Any update whether fan control will be enabled on Supermicro? X9scm-F. What are the other Supermicro users using? Can I use this tool to edit my lowest thresholds? Via command line? Any list of commands to execute?
  2. hi wgstarks, I have that installed already, and reading the link, it says "IPMI fan control is supported for Asrock boards only." In my case, indeed, you cannot enable fan control. It's grayed out.
  3. I am having problem with my fans on Supermicro X9SCM-F. Fans seem to be revving up and down. Upon reading a few posts, people say lower the lowest threshold to lower than the fan's specs. All say use freeipmi. Can anyone share with me how to install freeipmi? Thanks Reading forums
  4. Hi saarg, it seems highly improbable though that all 3 fans, brand new at that, will be defective all at the same time. But then again, if my fans won't spin more than is in specs, that clears one issue - that it won't die on me. The next question is, am I supposed to hear noise at 19.8 dB(A)? Cause that is written on the specs. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  5. Hi saarg, are you saying they aren't supposed to perform more than 1300 RPM? Website says "Rotational Speed (+/- 10%) 1300 RPM" Doesn't that mean that's the max it can do? Again, this is the model/ site- http://noctua.at/en/nf-p12-pwm/specification I am away, and cannot see the box. I'll check as soon as I return. As of the moment, what bothers me most isn't the noise that it generates (not my standard, I want it super quiet, I'm super annoyed right now with the noise level), but instead that I may have bought these expensive fans, and it might conk out soon, and yet, doesn't cool down my drives. Command line in the IPMI plugin? Motherboard I'm using is in my sig. Intel Xeon E3-1240 V2 @3.4GHz Memory: 8 GB (max installable capacity 32 GB) Supermicro X9SCM-F HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled
  6. Hi. I am using Fractal Node 804- http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/cases/node-series/node-series . My hard drives are hot, with temperatures of about 43 to 48. I consulted others at another forum, and I was told to add fans to cool my HDDs down. I bought 3 Noctua NF-P12 PWM FANS, and the machine is noisy. The fan is designed to operate at 1300 RPM, but mine goes much higher than that. About 1,800 on occasion. I decided to put in the LNA adapter, to limit speed to 900 RPM, but no dice. My fans keep on revving up and down. Though this time, Max seems to be 1,450 RPM. I am using these fans- http://noctua.at/en/nf-p12-pwm Before putting these fans in, I am using stock fan that came with Fractal Node 804, also 120 mm. Though it doesn't support PWM. While I am using those fans, I don't hear any revving. Maybe because the fans don't support it apart from the low, medium, high switch at the back of the case. I saw there are IPMI Tools plugin available for Unraid. Though this doesn't seem to support fan control. What to do? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  7. Wow, after reading your initial comment, I looked at diagnostics, but couldn't find what you are saying. Which particular log do I study? To be honest, ha enough idea Parity Check was happening that often. I will try to check where to stop the error correcting from happening automatically. Will it help if instead of replacing the drive entirely, I just preclear it all over again? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  8. Hi unevent, yes, the Hitachi drives are my cache drives. Figured they act in redundant, so ok to have 1 of them conk out anytime. As for the Seagate, what do you mean by 'performed parity sync with read errors?' The errors are written onto parity? Integrity of data sacrificed? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  9. Hi unevent, diagnostics generated with Unraid even without actual file transfer or downloading happening realtime? Will diagnostics give accurate results? tower-diagnostics-20170523-1750.zip
  10. Thanks unevent. I'll try to learn how to read this charts, and reports. Can probably help me address this system better. So for the moment, you think an upgrade in RAM will help? I assume processor isn't the issue here either, right? Disk activity being the most likely culprit?
  11. Hi unevent. That's a wealth of information you're sharing Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. I've seen a few post processing happening together in Sabnzbd, but not sure if that is what's happening during that time. In general, it's my user experience when I try to access webgui, I find the web pages don't come up immediately. My disks are old though, and may be 1 of the reasons for slow post process? Hence the wait?
  12. Sounds like a good idea runraid. Haven't gotten around buying them pwm fans yet.
  13. bonienl, I just upgraded to v6.3.4 earlier, haven't restarted. I do have Adblocker enabled, AV, and Firewall at home. Will consider it. Thanks!
  14. Anyone think it's because processor Xeon E3-1240 v2 too slow? Or memory is lacking? 8 GB? I have to say though I've seen access to Webgui much faster on AMD A8 chips, Running 4 GB.
  15. Hi. It's not the PC I'm using to access it though. Nor the browser. This happens even on a different PC/ browser. Noted on the fan But I believe it's not the one causing delay in access to docker apps.
  16. Whenever I try to right click on Sab, CP, Sonarr, etc. icons to access webgui, there will always be a wait (sometimes up to 5 seconds), before the options to access webgui appears. I've attached a copy of my dashboard, and netdata at a period in time, where usage is low, but still slow. Has this anything to do with me downloading in sab at 5 MBps? Furthermore, I don't see how to allocate more resources to the app that's causing all the delay. Kindly check screenshot.
  17. bman, thanks for your resounding "nope" to freenas I see your point now. So have to make photos backup work with Unraid. Mukow, when you say you have a share on Unraid for Photos, any suggestion on best practice? Assuming single drive is enough, will it be better to put share on a single drive? Or share consisting multiple drives? I'm using ACDSee. It asks me where to save extra copy upon import of Photos, I assume it will be best to map this share onto my Windows? And point this folder as extra location? Furthermore, aside from this, I'd like to backup automatically also. Crashplan seems to work. My problem with Crashplan is I don't see backed up content unless I restore. Is there any other backup (preferably also on docker, unraid) that can backup automatically, and allow me to see the backed up contents?
  18. Will take a look at Asustor. Not sure if it's as powerful as Qnap though.
  19. Hi NAStyBox, Thanks for the suggestions above. Though I prefer something like Qnap is because since my lack of space where the network equipment located, on a bookshelf, I prefer something only slightly deeper than a switch. If you check out my question above, I also ask what's the reason for placing Thunderbolt 3 on these NAS like Qnap if the box isn't placed on the desktop, where the device can be easily connected to a mobile device. I think something like Qnap could possibly be designed to be placed on the computer desk as well. It explains why there are 3 HDMI ports, 2 possibly for monitor, and secondary monitor, and the 3rd to be assigned to TV, passthrough of Kodi. Freenas has this case, which looks pretty good for an 8-bay. http://www.ablecom.com/product/?fPath=13&recordId=313
  20. Unfortunately, I am one of those that don't have the space, and to have something as compact, and quiet (only by the looks of it) really appeals to me. Pedestal type cases, towers, have one flaw though. Most of them don't have hotswap functionality. At the same time, the hotswap bays provided by good brands such as supermicro go very deep, and hardly any compact tower case can accommodate them. Though I must agree the case that has good cooling will eventually have longer lasting parts. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  21. Hahaha, your last statement is really funny. Sadly, there isn't any other NAS case chassis that provides the same form factor. To me, that form factor showcases the all-in-one capabilities of current Unraid, Freenas OS. I wish there are more such cases to come out. Silverstone DS380 is close, but I prefer horizontal ones better. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  22. I've always loved Qnap's form factor, and compactness. The box seems to be so powerful, and has a lot of functionality. I wonder if we can create something like this?- https://www.qnap.com/en-us/product/model.php?II=268 What parts will you suggest? Which board, and which case? I believe U-NAS NSC-800 will be a popular choice. But from all I've seen, it's too tight to place all these features. What do I mean by something like this? 1. It has at least 8 drives (3.5) 2. It has 3 hdmi outputs, or can accommodate 3 displays 3. Accepts control of Kodi via provided remote, to control a specific docker app? 4. Has Thunderbolt ports A few questions related to the features above: 1. In their scenario, what are the thunderbolt ports for? Does the NAS have to be a desktop replacement too to be able to use the Thunderbolt ports? (right beside the box) If the User is accessing this device far away, then the thunderbolt port is useless? 2. If we connect IR via USB, and used Kodi as a docker app or vm, can we passthrough the IR directly to the kodi device? 3. What kind of setup can we do to have 1 hdmi output assigned to a TV, working with the remote, and the 2 hdmi outputs working as a desktop? Do we need to allocate 3 separate video cards? This is my dream machine. What are your thoughts?
  23. I get 5000 on occasion. But that is very seldom, without changing anything. After the file, the next one may drop down to 500. I am using docker container, does that make any difference? I don't see option to change allocated resources though. I also followed the following steps to check - https://sabnzbd.org/wiki/advanced/highspeed-downloading But I cannot find sabyenc mentioned anywhere on the interface. The rest are pretty much as what is required, I have passed the minimum requirements mentioned on the article. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  24. I'm downloading files at 500KB/s when in my NZBGet, same file, will download at 5000 KB/s. I like the information provided by SAB, but at this rate, it's way too slow.
