Guys. Did not want to jump the other post going on Dual ethernet connection as that seems to be about bonding which is not what i need. I am sure i have asked this but cant find the post if i did. Anyway, I have 1 Nic in my unRaid connected direct in to my switch. What i would like to do is add another two Nics to unRaid and for the two Nics to be on the same subnet. For example Nic 1 - 192.168.101.0/24 Nic 2 - 192.168.1.0/24 Nic 3 - 192.168.1.0/24 Nic 2 & 3 would then go to different VMHosts and would be used to talk back to unRaid for NFS traffic only. I am running Beta 13. How could i configure unRaid to see these two extra Nics? Thanks in advance

I spoke to soon with my NFS problem. NFS is proper shite right now on Beta 13. I am having to move my ESXi guests back to local storage. Its just not stable at all. Running NFS locks up unRaid which in turn kills my ESXi servers and everything is in a mess. Does anyone know where i can get a log from? The system log only seems to have from when i restarted my server again. Can i get a log that goes back a couple of days so i can post it up

Guys. I have decommissioned my old ESX server and moved over to something faster. I now have 8GB 2x 4GB sticks kicking around. Now if i pop these in to my unRaid box is it going to make any difference at all? I don’t want to put them in just for the sake of it. Right now my unRaid has unMenu , SSH , email, NTFS , iStat and some alerting and monthly parity. Now i may install AirVideo at some point. So will giving my unRaid 10GB of RAM just be a waste or will it make any difference to my setup? Thanks in advance

I can only give you my thoughts with my experiance of Beta 13. On the whole my beta 13 has been fine for me. I was transfering all my VM guests to my unRaid box yesterday and it was crapping out every hour or so during the transfer. Now that everything is there it seems stable and i woulod say i have seen a performance increase I hope NFS gets some attention and they can iron out any issues with it. SMB has always worked 100% of the time with no problems. I have unMenu installed with, SSH, email m NTFS, etc I am pleased with Beta13 right now

Thanks for the link. I have updated my ESXi server with the drive and all is good. Great to have my NIC back as it was pissing me off having a NIC i could not use. Craig

NFS is really bad. I have just hooked my VMware server up to use it as a datastore. after about an hour the VMware box loses connection to unRaid. I have to reboot unRaid as just rebooting the VMware box does nothing. The disk that VMware is on is told not to spin down so i know its not that.

Do you have a link for the hack driver as i have that model NIC and really need the driver for vmware

Cant see it sugested so going to pipe up. On the PC that you are connecting to unRaid from can you check the IP address of the machine. I think i say your unraid was 192.168.1.50 so make sure your PC is also getting an IP address on 192.168.1.XX If you are unsure how to check. You are running Win 7 right? , then Click on Start and then type CMD This will then open a DOS window and if you type IPCONFIG /all You should then see what IP you have. Just a suggestion and start with the basic checks and move forward one at a time. Craig

OK, I have this working and not 100% sure what it was or the fix. I wrapped the Disk Devices in " " and got some of it but not the total raid size. Guys. I have installed iStat. Right now its onlt monitoring the boot device. What syntax do i need to put in Disk Devices to see my hard drives in the array? Thanks in advance

Sorry to Hijack. Are you saying that any parity disk i use in the future can never be taken out and used as a data disk? I was looking to upgrade my parity to a 2TB disk and then when the time is right to 3TB disk. My plan was to remove the 1TB parity, upgrade to 2Tb and then use the 1TB in my array. Are you saying this is not possible? If this is true then i may need to question unRaid as my solution

Hi guys. I have decided to go back to version 4.7 as i have been having to many issues on beta 13. What i did have today was odd. I had a Share A and Share B and if i created a folder in Share A then it appeared in both Share A and B but if i deleted it from Share B then it stayed in Share A Any ideas to this? As said i am going back to 4.7 now asi need something stable.

I am going to go back to 4.7. I have been having some weird issues with NFS shares. 1) NFS share dropping out and needing to reboot Windows 7 to use them again 2) Create NFS Share A and B. Copy data to Share A and it shows up in Share B

Hi Guys. I have a share called Video which i have set to Include disk 2 and exclude disk 1. I have now almost filled disk 2 and now have space on disk 1 so i removed the include and exclude option but when i try to copy anything in to the share i am being told that there is not enough free space which on disk 2 is correct but should it now now flick over to use disk 1 as well now? Hi guys. I have a share called Video and is on disk 2. Now disk 2 is almost full but when i look in the share settings i see the delete option and Share empty = Yes Any ideas?

Guys. I have created a NFS share on my unRaid called Apps. On the Apps share i have copied the MS Office 2010 DVD and when i try to launch the setup.exe i get a message The parameter is incorrect Any ideas? do i have something configured wrong with unRaid?

The performace has been ok'ish with NFS for me. i moved my iTunes folder to my unRaid and iTunes hated it. Until i made the share only on one disk and then everything worked great. I just cant have these performance issues so luckily as i have just started with unRaid am going to change all my shares to be on a single drive and not across multiple.

Hi guys. I have been having a nightmare of a day trying to get iTunes to work from my unRaid. I have created a share on unRaid called Music and had set the share allocation method to free-space The share was NFS Basically iTunes would open and hang. No matter what i did it would just hang. Its been killing me all day. This has caused me a right pain in the arse. I changed the share to Fill and now iTunes opens and runs fantastic. So i am now having to go back and sort all my shares out to be set to fill and now free-space.

Thanks. I was quite pleased with how quick it did transfer that amount of data. Yes no cache drive right now. If 40MB/sec is what i am going to run at then this is way better than what i have been used to Craig
