Your experience speaks volumes. And thank you very much for the plugin @zhtengw I really hope to figure out these other issues.

The problem I am experiencing now is two-part - It takes some tinkering to get the VM up to where I can utilize it - but when I can get it working in one of these two ways, I have these issues:

    1. I was able to passthrough Intel igpu to previous VM, solo:
    - enable a virtual display with "usbmmidd_vv2" & remote in with Splashtop Desktop; but the screen goes black when I do anything extensive (i.e. change from 1090x1080 to 2560x1440 or add a second display).

    2. When I passthrough: GPU 1 - 'Virtual' & GPU 2 - 'Intel';
    - I can see the iGPU in the VM but it is not active. The driver seems to be up-to-date.
    example 2 tower-diagnostics-20231002-1439.zip
    - This issue here would be ideal to fix first.

I am not sure if I should bind the VF's at boot, or what is the proper way to get it working. I am getting these errors in the VM logs.

If there's anything i can do that might be helpful please let me know. Much appreciated.

Update: After keeping it running in the background a couple days it runs okay and I am able to remote in with no issues. BUT when I turned off another VM & booted another, the Splashtop display went black & and I cannot access it in parsec.
So issue #1 above is a server/plugin related issue possibly and seems to be unrelated to the VM itself being underpowered or overdriven... (tower-diagnostics-20231004-0028.zip)

RDP- remote desktop, resolved my issues of 0% GPU utilization, hardware acceleration of programs & the screen going out/BLACK on Splashtop/Parsec/VNC. This article drove me to use RDP instead of the alternatives. I currently have igpu  02.01 passed through solo. It has been stable for days. Thank you all again for your help @ich777& @zhtengw & everyone else on this thread!

    Did you enable multi-monitor also?

Hey what’s up! You rock btw thanks for all your help you provide in these forums!
I did enable that option and it didn’t work; i don’t think Unraid turned on, so that was not an option. Same with CSM.
The solution was actually plugging in a Dummy plug into the mobo hdmi port 🤯 as mentioned here then the option actually defaulted to that in the bios and saved like I was hoping.
Thanks man I hope you have a good day!

You mean you can't use IGD and external GPU at the same time?

I guess other mobos you can just turn it on and it works; but ya like you said maybe an Asus thing, but luckily this trick worked!

That's most certainly caused because you have a second GPU in your system and on most motherboards this will disable the iGPU.

Please make sure that you've set your primary GPU to the iGPU in the BIOS, if that also doesn't work you have to connect a HDMI Dummy plug (or Display) to your motherboards HDMI port to enable it <- this is not necessary for most boards.

  4. Hello, I am trying to turn “Primary Display” to ‘CPU Graphics’, instead of ‘Auto’.
The bios setting keeps reverting back to “Auto” immediately after saving & rebooting.

Goal is so I can enable SR-IOV and pass-through iGPU to a vm headless and have another vm using the external Gpu.

It seems the Asus ROG STRIX Z690-E Gaming may have a quirk as said here in his first bullet point.

Is that Reddit solution possibly the only way to go about resolving this? Is this mobo being more difficult than it should be?

    ps here is the manual

    Thank you for any input.

If you are already on Unraid 6.12.4 try this:

    1. Execute this from a Unraid Terminal:
      mkdir -p /boot/config/plugins/i915-sriov/packages/6.1.49/
    2. Copy the two files from the above post in the folder: /boot/config/plugins/i915-sriov/packages/6.1.49/
    3. Install the SR-IOV plugin
    4. Execute this from a Unraid Terminal:
      sed -i '/ modprobe i915 enable_guc=7/ s/.*/ modprobe i915 enable_guc=3 max_vfs=7/' /boot/config/plugins/i915-sriov.plg
echo "# disable autoload old i915 module on boot
        blacklist i915" > /boot/config/modprobe.d/i915-sriov.conf
    5. Reboot

My bro; for starters, thank you so much. But I show 'No Intel graphics found" error. I followed these steps, I do have SR IOV enabled in bios, 12th gen i9-1200k.
I removed plugin, removed from previous apps, shutdown Unraid for 2min, I followed these steps, and repeated process several times to no avail.
Hoping you can help me out; you don't know how appreciative we all are for you!

unraid 6.12.3 was just released. it broke sr-iov. worked fine in 6.12.2.

    6.12.3 -

    "Docker

This release resolves an issue where Docker does not properly stop when the array Stops, which can result in an unclean shutdown.

If Docker containers have issues starting after a while, and you are running Plex, go to your Plex Docker container settings, switch to advanced view, and add this to the Extra Params: --no-healthcheck"

I had the this problem with dockers and unclean shutdown, and disks not unmounting so upgraded. after upgrading sr-iov was missing. after trying to reinstall it this is the dialog. it appears in settings again, but as soon as i try to save config, and enable it doesn't work.

    - So according to this, the latest version SR-IOV works with is possibly 6.12.2 BUT might also have a docker issue.
    - 6.11.5 works BUT you still have to modify to a custom kernel apparently, which I would like to avoid.

So my best options are possibly to update to 6.12.0 - 6.12.2; but Unraid doesn't give me the option to pick, only installs the latest OS version (6.12.4 which doesnt currently work with SR-IOV)) through the GUI.

    Can someone please:
    1) Let me know which version or route might be the best.
    2) Link me to how to upgrade to a specific OS version please.
I see the Manual Installation Method with the download versions link, but it doesn't explain how to do this on an existing Unraid server.

    sudo -u abc php /config/www/nextcloud/updater/updater.phar

    1) "abc" didn't work obviously, but nor did my Admin usernames. It didn't recognize them for some reason.

    docker exec -it nextcloud updater.phar

    ^ Running this instead worked.

    2) I used these tags:
    24.012-ls238
    25.0.4-ls229

    3) After upgrading to 26.0
    a. Stop docker. Remove the tag & the docker automatically starts. Open the "logs"
    b. Notice version 26.0... Then it says "Updating to 27.0."
    c. Working, accessible GUI now.

Is there anything else I can check possibly?
    Thanks for your help, again.

Hey now that I think about it; sometimes when there is High Utilization from the VM the wireless mouse that is passthrough has major lag. The mouse and keyboard on the passthrough USB do not lag; but the SoundBlaster DAC that is connected to the same USB pcie card is choppy with game audio.
This Soundblaster DAC never used to be choppy, but worked fine; now after adding a couple other wireless headsets with dongles, and even after removing them as playback devices, the Soundblaster DAC with hardline headset had choppy game audio.

  10. Hello,

I bought both 2 headsets just to verify it's not the headset. There is some type of overloading or something happening that causes consistent intermitent Gaming Audio choppiness - garble - stutter, as heard in this video.

    - Headsets are both on USB Dongles connected to a USB card I have passed through. [Xbox Headset with Xbox adapter for PC & SteelSeries Nova 7 with dongle).
    - I have a USB DAC (SoundBlaster G3) with a pair of wired headphones & it works fine.

Any & all advice/help/input on this subject would be helpful.

    Video of the problem.

Here is another issue I was having, I doubt they are related but USB card takes about 5 min to passthrough at start of the VM & sometimes disconnects the USB card.

    tower-diagnostics-20230606-1848.zip

  11. Hello,
    1) I am getting DirectX crashes on Modern Warfare randomly. The VM also takes about 5min (after fresh Start of the VM/shut down & start), to passthrough the pcie USB card (hears the sound of a new device inserted on Windows); I cannot start the game due to DirectX error for about 5min as well.
    2) I also see some errors on the Unraid log that repeats.

Mar 13 20:25:55 Tower ntfs-3g[8563]: Failed to read vcn 0x5 from inode 5: Input/output error
    Mar 13 20:25:55 Tower kernel: buffer_io_error: 13 callbacks suppressed
Mar 13 20:25:55 Tower kernel: Buffer I/O error on dev sda2, logical block 15091892, async page read

    3) Also errors on the VM log.

I am not sure if these are related. I am hoping I can get some help with these.
The VM I am referring to Win 1001 in my diagnostics
    Thank you all.

  12. Seems like you pretty much have to have 2 GPUs to use Unmatic then; assuming, most people using Unraid pass through their GPU to VM. Otherwise what you said, makes perfect sense. Thank you for explaining that.

I was looking for alternatives to get this going.

    - Either install a 2nd GPU,

    - Or Maybe I can host Unraid on another computer (with another GPU) and encode all videos remotely; unless I can use a windows desktop and this?

    Thank you

    linked documentation is correct

I added you discord support channel. Thank you. To hopefully wrap this up here then; I'm sure everyone has GPU passed thru to their VM. The Nvidia Driver plugin says dont install it if you pass thru GPU to VM. So how do I do it? Download the plugin anyway? VM and Unmatic should still work or no? 1842524873_ScreenShot2022-11-13at5_51_16PM.png.adc3b50e67e1bd7edfb82beb9d3ac368.png

You are quite right. I should update the instructions removing that warning as I highly doubt anyone is still running the older version of Unraid and so there is no need to keep those instructions.

Just follow the instructions in the template adding the --runtime=nvidia option and the other things that it says to.

OMG please update. I spent over 2 hours trying to figure out how people do it with VMs since the NVidia Driver plugin says not to download if you plan to pass through GPU to VM. All the videos I found (including the Cpt Chaz video that you posed in the video guide section) all suggest you need the Nvidia Driver plugin.

    So to be clear:

    1. We do not need the Nvidia Driver plugin and do not insert UUID; only "adding the --runtime=nvidia option"?

    2. It IS okay to run Unmanic NVidia encoding while also using a VM all on the same GPU?

If NOT, then what do you suggest?

    - I only have 1 Unraid machine, but I do have other desktops and laptops.

Thank you very much, I am pumped to use it! maxed out my 24TBs. You rock

EDIT: I was able to isolate Audio & Mic using

    pcie_acs_override-multifunctionvfio_tommu_typel.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1vfio-pci.ids=8086:7284,8086:7ad0,8086:74…modprobe.blacklistsi2c_1801,12c_smbusinitrd=/bzroot

but you shouldn’t use that method on 6.9+, although it did work. The mic was very quiet.
Maybe it’s just best to get a USB DAC for your gaming headset. I got the SoundBlaster G3 and it rocks.
