  1. Thank you johnm,

I have the X7SPA-HF-525 using v5b14 with sab/sb/cp/pms plugins downloading to an app drive (using drive mount plugin) and then moving the completed files to the shares automatically. The only issue is when streaming 720P mkv's to a Roku 2 using plex. (Roku doesn't support mkv and I think the server has to handle the transcoding to play on Roku using Plex client).

Streaming to Boxee Box works great.

In your opinion, would I see any better performance using 8 GB ram?

I don't really care about the Roku streaming part, just wanted to know if it was a worthwhile upgrade

  2. I think this answers the 1st question

thank you all for the reponese.

FYI, here is the answer from supermicro support:

    Ziguan,

There are 2 LED onboard. One is power LED which is on solid. It mean the power supply is supplying power to the motherboard. The other LED which blinking is refer to IPMI chipset. That mean the chipset is on and working.

Maybe someone els can help with the 2nd one.

  3. Thanks, easy to do on Netgear WNDR4000

Watch out, it might say it's disabled, but it might not be! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0Ags-JmeLMFP2dFp2dkhJZGIxTTFkdFpEUDNSSHZEN3c

    Thanks,

    I disabled the router PIN

But your second link states for the WNDR3700v3 (didn't list WNDR4000) "PIN can be disabled, but WPS cannot be switched off completely"

    Oh well

  4. I am looking for opinions on the best way to name my movies.

My collection is growing fast and I would like to know if there is a better way.

I currently have Movies as my share name and am using this format:

    Movies/The Blind Side (2009)/The Blind Side (2009).mkv

Would I be better off using this format:

    Movies/Blind Side, The (2009)/The Blind Side (2009).mkv

    Thanks,

    Mark

  5. I have an Antec 300 and if you wanted to stay with it I think you can get 12 drives inside.

    6 x 3.5 internal

    3 x 5.25 external (use a 5in3)

1 x 2.5 internal (at the bottom of the case) for a laptop drive or SSD

  6. Raj -

After, "unsuccessfully" trying the whole cache drive experience and having to restart a new array build some few times because of it I am super hesitant to go down the cache drive path but I'm pretty interested in using it for adding NZB, couchpotato and sickbeard. Is there a way to try a HD in the cache position and then if I don't like it I can put the settings back to just as if I had restarted?

My situation is similar in that I started with v5b14 unlicensed and I use the drive mount plugin for an "apps" drive (sab/sb/cp/pms).

When I upgrade to a Plus or Pro license, should I change from using an "apps" drive to a cache drive?

    Would there be any benefit?

Everything is running smoothly with the current setup, so I am tempted to leave it alone after I upgrade to Plus or Pro.

  7. Right after the upgrade I was able to set back the "classic" theme which I liked more than this new one. This one is with too big fonts and less densed, so less information fits into a screen.

Today when logged in I am back on the new theme and the theme chooser disappeard from the profile settings. Has this forum been feature disabled after a while?

    This is probably why

Seems that some themes are not updated for SMF 2.0, in particular "Babylon".  Use of this theme is causing thousands of error log messages.  There is a way to switch "everyone" to the default SMF theme (called "Curve") which I am going to do later this evening.

  8. Again its quiet from Tom's side..

    No new versions?

I'm still on 4.7 and waiting to go to 5.?

Sounds like the next release is not far off, and 5.0 final soon after that.

The LimeTech forum has been updated to latest SMF release.  Please let me know if you see any problems.

    Other news:

Next unRaid release - now that linux kernel 3.2 is released, I will integrate and post one more 5.0-beta, thereafter, 5.0-rc1, then 5.0 "final".

Website - after forum update and some website tweaks we will be moving from shared hosting to a VPS.  They tell me this will be "painless", we'll see.

Company - We are changing to a C-Corp and moving to San Diego, CA area sometime in February.  As soon as we have secured space out there I will post another announcement regarding this.  Probably the main thing anyone would care about is that once in CA, we have to start charging CA sales tax...

Servers - We are working with a company in So. Calif. to design a new series of servers.  These servers will all include "trayless" hard drive cages with choice of three electronic packages: "Low Power", "Standard", and "High Performance".

    More later......

  9. to access that drive via network, you have to edit the smb-extra file in /boot/config

here is my file, as an example:

    [usenet]
       path = /mnt/usenet
       read only = no
       guest ok = yes

    max protocol = SMB2

when i have time to do it, this script will also allow easy sharing of mounted drives...

    Works good!

    Thank you Benni-chan  :)

  10. I have Plex 0.9.5.1 installed via the plugin, but when I start the Plex Media Manager, I can't configure the Library Sections to point to my media.  It's as if the page is read-only.

Try a different browser. A script or pop-up is probably being blocked. A window should come up where you can add you media folders.

i guess it has something to do with the browser you are using or some extensions...

    @SCSI,

    @Benni-chan,

A browser update to Firefox 8.0 did the trick.  Thanks for your suggestions!

    Kevin

Thank you all  :) I was having this exact same problem with my library.

    Updated Firefox and problem gone!

    Plex 0.9.5.2 plugin

    unRAID 5b14

  11. I'm running unraid 5b14, and I'm using SNAP to install a drive /mnt/disk/Apps and that's all working very well, it appears every reboot

Not sure if this is relevant, but I think you stated you were mounting an NTFS drive. Is the drive being mounted as writable and do you have the ntfs-3g - NTFS read/write filesystem driver installed?

The only thing I do have an issue with is that when accessing from my Win7 PC it asks me to log in?  I'm not sure why or how to fix that, and I would like to.

I think you would use the same login as when you telnet tower, user root (no password, unless you created one).

I removed the .plg files, and rebooted, just to see what would happen.  I didn't expect SAB/CB/PS3 media server to load, but I noticed all the folders where in the Apps drive as I left them before I rebooted. I put the .plg files back and rebooted again, and when I check the Apps disk after boot with the array stopped, this time only the PS3MS folder was there.  The other folders had been deleted!!!!  When I started the array, sabnzbd & sickbeard appeared, both as new installs (the scripts folder in Sabnzbd is missing and all the settings are gone).  So these plugins are definately recreating themselves from scratch at every reboot :(

This sounds normal to me, I think the scripts folder is missing because it is a "new" installation after you deleted the .plg files and rebooted. You are starting over and have to re-create the settings. When I started over like this, I loaded only one .plg at a time and installed and made sure it was ok before installing the next one. Might be worth a try if you run out of ideas.

I didn't initally set a datadir, but had to because when I set it to enable YES, the Data Directory defaulted to an old /mnt/Apps folder that I was using with the mount drive plugin (I couldn't get this to work, but that's maybe because I'm using an NTFS drive, and have no idea how to reformat a drive not on the array)

If you set data directory enable to no, I believe it will use the install directory by default.

Considering this is clean install (I even reformated the USB stick), it seems to retain some infomation about previous settings.  I remembered my music/video shares, not sure how.

I noticed similar behavior with regards to paths, file names being remembered.

I've attached my syslog if that helps.

I have never looked at the syslog, maybe Benni-chan can help here.

  12. I put both the install & data directories on my apps drive.  Is that the wrong thing to do?  Should I just leave install on the default directory, and only change the data directory???  I was kinda worried that my USB drive would die on me if I had SB, SAB & PS3MS running from USB.

It runs from RAM if you install in the default location, not the USB drive and that is why the settings are lost on a reboot.

the config files and databases for the apps will be written to the data directory.

if you don't use the data directory, these files will be written to the installation dir.

so if you installed the app to the ramdisk (i.e. /usr/local/sabnzbd/) and don't use a data dir on your array/cache/app-drive, you will loose your config file with the next server restart.

  13. Can anyone give me any help to get SAB, SB & an apps drive successfully installed, and consistent after a reboot?

I am still new to unraid, but I may be able to help a little as your setup sounds very similar to mine.

I use the drive mount plugin for my apps drive and the settings do not get lost on a reboot.

The first time I tried to set it up and it wasn't working, I just deleted all the plugins and rebooted so I could start from scratch.

Then I created my data dirs before I installed the plugins again.

The biggest hurdle for me was getting sickbeard post processing setup, but it seems to be working correctly now.

I used mc in the telnet window to get my autoProcessTV file copied to the data dir and the autoProcessTV.cfg file setup correctly.

I am not at my server at the moment, but will post more details later when I get home.

Don't give up, there is lots of help on this forum. :)
