  1. this will look crazy but I can't get my VM to auto-start  :'(

I am interested in this as well. I read that auto-start was broken in the 5.0 Update 1

    http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2012/03/free-esxi-hypervisor-auto-start-breaks-with-50-update-1.html

THANK YOU, I may not be crazy! I'm effectively running 5.0 Update 1 (VMware-VMvisor-Installer-5.0.0.update01-623860.x86_64.iso)

Update 1 was released in March, more than 3 months ago... Why isn't this fixed yet? It's kind of ridiculous!?

I can't revert back as explained in the Blog post as I have a 5.0 Update 1 clean install. There's a sketchy workaround in the comments but I would prefer not to mess with that. So I guess that I will have to start all over from scratch with a 5.0 install (VMware-VMvisor-Installer-5.0.0-469512.x86_64.iso)

Should I be careful about anything in doing this? (except for unplugging every drives when re-installing ESXi)

Looking at the Update 1 release notes, I should be fine downgrading; my OSX VM wasn't working anyway..

And then VMware is gonna release Update 2 / a fix in a week haha

I am in the same boat, clean install of update 1.

I am still new to ESXi and haven't tried the downgrade described in the blog.

I don't NEED auto start, but it would be nice to get it fixed as I belive it may be tied to auto shutdown (from the UPS) which I have not figured out completely.

  2. However, the design of the iStarUSA 5in3 has changed, but I can't see any reason why a similar mod shouldn't be equally effective.

I think that I must have confused myself - I've just checked the iStarUSA web site, and the trayless 5in3 is still exactly the same design as mine.

Peter, maybe this is the unit you were thinking of?

The new iStar 5-in-3 (BPN-DE350SS) should be available mid-july http://istarusa.com/drivecages/bpndespec.php

  3. I have seasons and eps all over the place. I'd like the complete run of a show on a single drive.

This is the way I understand it with TV as the share. Refer to http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Split_level

    TV

    -series folder

    --season folder

    ---season files

A split level of 1 will keep each TV series on a single disk and split level of 2 will keep each season on a single disk. The split level of 2 means that the complete TV series can be stored on multiple disks, however each individual season of that TV series will be on a single disk.

  4. For those that did get this drive. update the firmware to the latest version to get rid of both the "chirping" noise it makes and to get rid of the always on activity light.

for some reason the firmware that came with my drives (4C) had the activity light status reversed. light on when idol and light off when busy.

I have 3 of these drives (1 parity, 2 data).

Did not know about a firmware update.

    Should I bother or not?

How high is the risk of losing data during the firmware update?

  5. I'm trying to change the configuraiton on the network services page.

Each time i hit the done button all the settings are reverted back to default values :(

You can only change values in the webinterface, if the plugin is disabled. BUT those changes are only saved, when enabling the plugin.

so to change a value, first set Enable to "no", hit apply. then change the settings, then set Enable to "yes" and then hit apply. Sickbeard (or the plugin you changed the settings for) will start with the new settings.

btw how do you mount a outside of the array drive ?

    Mount Any Drive Plugin: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14742.msg138819#msg138819

  6. Also when I do this, the prompt from the unraid machine says OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/mnt/usenet'.

Are you using the Mount Any Drive Plugin or Snap Plugin? If not, then you should change the data directory from /mnt/usenet/.apps/sabnzbd or install Benni-chan's Mount Any Drive Plugin.

Benni-chan's examples are using his Mount Any Drive Plugin for the data directory location: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14742.msg138819#msg138819

You may want to read this entire thread from the beginning (even if you already did, it may help you catch something you missed).

  7. From the FAQ: "The idea behind "High-Water" is to fill disk1 half way, then fill disk2 half way, then disk3 half way, etc.  When you've filled the last data disk half way, then it moves back to disk1, filling it 3/4 of the way, then disk2 3/4 of the way, etc."

It's been exactly like that for me. I'm a high water user.

Jeff, are all your disks the same size?

Read this description of high-water allocation as pointed out to me in another thread by dgasck

    http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=20171.msg179914#msg179914

    http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Allocation_method

"The high water allocation method attempts to step fill each disk so at the end of each step there is an equal free space left on each disk."

So i understand, it will not progressively fill each disk half way unless they are all the same size

  8. Hello,

First of all, I want to thank everyone who posted guides for ESXi. With your help, I was able to get ESXi installed with unRAID running in ESXi.

I would like to know how most of you are managing ESXi. Are you using Windows 7?

My main desktop is Ubuntu 10.04 x64 and I have been running Windows 7 x64 in a vmware workstation player on the Ubuntu box to manage ESXi.

I found a vmware view client for linux, but it will not install on Ubuntu 10.04 x64. I am wondering if any of you have a Linux client running?

Thanks again for all the help.

    Mark

  9. Hi I am currently using UNraid 5.0-rc2. (server built with 5b14, upgraded to rc2).

This issue began before rc2, I just recently discovered it.

I have 3 disks in the array: 3TB parity, 3TB, 2TB, and an 80GB SSD mounted via plugin for SAB/SB/CP/PMS data dir. Not using a cache disk.

    2 user shares:

Movies (split level 1, High water allocation, min free space 0, include/exclude disks blank)

TV (split level 2, High water allocation, min free space 0, include/exclude disks blank)

Using SAB/SB/CP/PMS/Drive Mount plugins and every thing was working great, when disk 1 got to 50% free space then the movies and tv (new seasons) began writing to disk 2.

I have lots of files on disk 2 that were created from early Mar to mid-April, but for some reason any Movies and new TV shows since mid-april are now being writtten to disk 1 again and nothing has gone to disk 2 except for a TV show that already has it's current season on disk 2.

I have rebooted numerous times, and don't have any syslogs from the past.

I have searched the forums and cannot figure out why my split level settings have stopped working, or what I should do next to get them working again.

  10. I'm an RC2

I have Sab and SB installed. I can start the apps fine but I can't change any information such as port or data location.

    Quote from benni-chan:

"you can only change values in the webinterface, if the plugin is disabled. BUT those changes are only saved, when enabling the plugin.

so to change a value, first set Enable to "no", hit apply. then change the settings, then set Enable to "yes" and then hit apply. Sickbeard (or the plugin you changed the settings for) will start with the new settings.

(in the next (soon to come) version, it will be possible to save settings without enabling the plugin."

  11. I've been doing some testing on RC2, and have some potential bugs to report:

    CouchPotato

I tried installing CouchPotato using this plugin on RC2, and I found that CouchPotato is never starting.  The UnRAID UI just hangs and never recovers.

I had something similar happen. I upgraded from 5b14 to rc2 and couchpotato would hang. SAB/SB/PMS were all OK. I deleted the Couchpotato data dir and rebooted the server to get it working again. Seems fine now, this was 2 days ago.

  12. I don't actually understand how to install these packages. It says I have to copy the download to my config/plugins folder on my flash drive, but there is no plugin folder in my config directory. When I try download one of the packages I just geta web page full of text commands. What exactly am I supposed to do?

Right-Click on the download link and save it to your computer

You may have to create the config/plugins folder

  13. Hi All,

Finally got my setup working quite well however I've tried to update some of the shows. I keep getting these errors

  14. I was wondering if someone can help me with my post processing config.

I've had Sickbeard and Sabnzbd running on my QNAP for some time and it's worked perfectly. I've recently built and unRAID server to replace the QNAP and installed the SAB\SB\Couch plugins however when the TV series are downloaded, they remain in the Sab download folder. I soon realised this is because the Python scripts weren't setup in the Categories tab within Sab. So I copied the settings over from my working QNAP (adjusting for differences in the file systems/locations) but still it's not working.

Could someone post a screen print of their working Sab/SB config please?

    Maybe this will help.

I have a working setup on unRAID 5b14 using the sab/sb/cp/plex/drive mount plugins.

After you copied your settings from QNAP, did you check the owner of sabnzbd folder?

You may need to: chown -R nobody:users /path to your folder/apps/sabnzbd/

Also check the user rights (the .py files should have read and execution rights for at least user and group): ls -la /path to your folder/apps/sickbeard/autoProcessTV

You may want to re-read the entire sab plugin thread again to see if you missed anything else.

This is the thread I am referring to: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14760.0
