  1. Hello,

I thought I would ask here before I mess things up!

I have a Windows 7 Vm all setup (using SchoolBusDriver's guide) and running fine in unRAID 6b4.

I want to increase the disk size (currently 30G).

Could I safely use the instructions here:  http://amandine.aupetit.info/187/add-disk-space-to-a-img-disk-image-for-use-with-xen-for-example/

If not, is there an easier/better way to do this?

  2. Peter,

I am in no way as knowledgeable as most of you guys here, but I did have a similar situation when testing beta 3.

In my case, the cache drive was still mounted in the console/terminal and unraid would not stop/shutdown.

I am only mentioning it in case it may help you or others.

    Mark

When stopping the array with VM running, it's do not do a complete stop, I have no syslog, perhaps someone else can test? I forced to do a power down, and now doing a parity check.

  3. I've been trying all day to get my Supermicro X9SCM to boot up.

Didn't see this mentioned in the thread

Do you have an E3-1230 v2?

    They require bios rev 2.0

  4. I wish Tweaknews had a full speed trial account to see what kind of speeds I get with them. I've heard good things about their retention. I guess I could always just sign up for one month and try it.

    Maybe this will help?

One this page you can find speedtest files to do speedtests from our network.

    Speed test

To test te speeds your internet connection allows you to achieve we have a speedtest where you can download files of 1GB, 100MB and so on. The link is: http://speedtest.tweak.nl

  5. Great.  I think I will look into getting either the 510 or 525 model.  I checked the memory compatibility list but I am having trouble finding the exact Micron memory that Supermicro is recommending.  Did you just put in any well know brand of SO-DIMM's in your boards?  I can't imagine that I would need more than 4GB since all this will be doing is streaming HBR .mkv files to my HTPC.

Just noticed an X7SPA-HF D510 with 4 GB ram for sale $97

  6. I did contacted Azza about getting a side panel, but they wanted $40, and not $25.  I only paid $50 dollars for this case.  So, I am not about to spend another $40 on it.  I might just go ghetto style and paint a piece of cardboard and tape it on the side.

I just double checked my paypal history and it was $25 including shipping in June 2012

The paypal receipt came from [email protected] in case you wanted to try and contact him.

  7. Do they do this for all their cases?

I have Azza 1000 that I'm planning on using for unraid eventually, but i do not like this 200mm side fan with the window.

I don't know about that case. You can reach them at 714-990-5625 9am-5pm PST

  8. Does anyone have any recommendations for a block usenet account to be used as a backup server?

I am using astraweb, and have been happy, but every once in a while a download will be 10 blocks short and I end up wasting several gigs of download quota

I was using a free account from xsusenet and it worked really well, but they recently changed the system and the free accounts no longer have ssl and they get a 10 day retention rather than a 400 day one (kind of a joke)

blocknews.net is selling blocks that don't expire for very good prices, but to me it seemed too good to be true. 25 gigs for $8.25, no expiration, SSL, 1400 day retention and 50 connections??? That would last me literally forever as a backup server. anybody dealt with this company before?

    Thanks

yes, i know but i dont think its bad luck i'm getting incomplete stuff..something is wrong

p.s the nzbs i download are mostly a week old

edit: well seems like supernews wasnt the culprit after all, since many more reported missing pars on the aformentioned NZBs.

With all the missing articles I've been running into lately, I switched to Tweaknews.

No download limits, unlimited speed option available, block accounts, 10GB free trial,

  9.

TigerDirect has the Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB 5900RPM/64MB 3.5" Internal SATA Hard Drive (ST2000DL003) for a low $79.99 Free Shipping after rebate. Tax in FL, GA, ID, IL, NC, SD, TX. This drive sells for at least $120 at other reputable vendors. [Compare Prices]

This is a stellar price for a 2TB hard drive. Most of the deals we see these days on 2TB drives are closer to $100. This particular model is good as a storage drive thanks to its lower energy consumption. It's also slightly faster than your standard "Green Drive" since it uses a 5900RPM drive vs 5200RPM.

  10. I have the monitor attached to a DVI to VGA adapter connected to the onboard video.

Do you have another monitor, or can you test without the DVI to VGA adapter?

If not, can you check via IPMI on another computer?

I have had problems not getting all resolutions when using similar adapters.

  11. It's an i3 2100. Not an e3 1200

    Yes I saw that.

I think the information applies to the I3 also.

I didn't want to change the wording in the link I copied from Supermicro.
