  1. Greetings, I set my UnRaid OS (version 6.8.3) GUI to the Dark Theme that is included in the OS as an option. In the MAIN Tab is it possible to change the light gray colored bar which indicates how much hard disk space is USED to a different color? Please see graphic below. In short, I would like to change the USED part of the bar to a GREEN color. The FREE part of the bar can remain with the same gray color it. Can such a change be made to the USED part of the bar? Any opinions welcome. And thank you for your time.
  2. Fellow Forum Members, Krusader installation is kicking my butt. I am following Spaceinvader's Krusader installation video but what makes it difficult is how his version does not match the version I am installing from Binhex. Right now I'm trying to backup my boot drive as Spaceinvader shows in his video. However, when I try to move the FLASH folder from one pane to the other pane belonging to my share folder LEGOS I get a "Could not enter folder /Flash" error shown in the graphic below. I have logged in as ROOT user and I still get this error. I have also included a second screen capture showing my current Krusader settings. What change do I have to make to fix my Krusader setup so it works correctly? Is there a Krusader installation Video that shows the BinHex version and not the older SpaceInvader version because that will help me out tremendously? Lastly, the "/mount/user" and "/media" container values BinHex includes does not match to SpaceInvader's version. What container value do I add if I create an UNRAID folder like SpaceInvader shows? I ask because I do not see the Unassigned Devices "disks" folder or array hard drives like SpaceInvader shows in his video. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  3. Fellow Forum Members, I installed the newest version of Unassigned Devices to the newest UnRaid OS and it has no problem detecting a USB thumb drive once it is inserted in a USB port. However, when I insert a DVD disc PDF files into my DVD Drive my Unassigned Devices plugin does not auto-detect it the same way it does the USB stick. The graphic below shows the Unassigned Devices Settings. I would be grateful if any fellow forum member can explain what changes I need to make to the Unassigned Devices Settings so it successfully recognizes my DVD disc once I insert it into my DVD drive. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  4. Any opinions well be tremendously welcomed.
  5. Greetings Fellow Forum Members, My old file server is a RAID6 system which uses a LSI 3ware 9750 Controller Card. Currently, the 3Ware 3DM2 GUI software is telling me I have a degraded hard drive error and after doing a very long rebuild process I got an ECC error. In short, it's the reason why I'm migrating all of the data contained in my old RAID6 system over to my new UnRaid array system. My question is simple. Does the UnRaid system also have problems with "degraded hard drives" and "ECC errors"? And is the UnRaid OS advanced enough to fix such errors by running a rebuild process? Lastly, if my UnRaid OS in the future warns me about an ECC error, does it mean I have lost data? Or does the UnRaid OS protect against data loss if an ECC error appears in my future? Thanks for your time.
  6. Thanks for your advice Jonathanm. What you pointed out about recovery tools not working well on encrypted drives is good advice. It is inline with my concern relating to how there may be docker apps, plugin apps or apps installed on my Windows10 client PC that may not play nice with XFS encrypted drives. For example, there is the Windows10 File explorer app which I plan to use a lot to move files around, rename files, create new folders, delete files, in short, do everything with it I need to do to organize the data in my UnRaid Array. My concern is the Windows10 File Explorer app may eventually end up corrupting my data due to the XFS encryption on the array. Honestly, the more I think about XFS encrypting my UnRaid data the more I think it is a double edge sword. Therefore, for now I think I'm going to decide on no XFS encryption and this way I may avoid a bunch of possible head aches. Maybe at some point in the future when my UnRaid skills are a lot more advanced I will revisit this complex subject of XFS encryption. Thanks again for your advice.
  7. Greetings Fellow Forum Members, My UnRaid Array has 5 hard drives plus 2 Parity Drives. After the Parity Sync process which took a bunch of hours to complete I formatted all 5 hard drives as XFS without encryption. Is it possible to go back and reformat 3 of the hard drives using XFS encryption and leave the remaining 2 hard drives as XFS without encryption? In short, does UnRaid like it if the array is partially encrypted? The purpose for my partially encrypted array is so I can investigate whether or not the encrypted drives slow down file response times compared to the drives not encrypted. I would like to test drive this whole encryption thing and if I don't like it I will then go back and reformat all the drives without XFS encryption. I'm also wanting to see if my Window10 OS client PC is going to be able to recognize all types of encrypted files stored in my UnRaid Array. I would really appreciate a lot if anybody can offer some advice regarding this matter. Thank you.
  8. Fellow Forum Members, It took a bunch of hours but my new UnRaid Array completed the Parity sync process successfully. Following that was a hard drive initialization and format process. Now I need some advice. I am thinking it may be wise I XFS encrypt the entire UnRaid Array. Does this mean I have to redo the Parity sync process all over again or only the hard drive initialization and format process? Other encryption related questions I have are as follow: What are the CONS in using XFS encryption? What are the PROS in using XFS encryption? Does XFS encryption also encrypt all filenames and folder names stored in the UnRaid Array? Am I running a higher risk of corrupting my data by using XFS encryption compared to not using it at all? I learned there is a KEY I need to use which prevents the UnRaid Array to AutoStart. What is the fix to this Key problem? Any opinions welcomed.
  9. Stayupthetree, Thanks for your suggestion. I did not have this Rysnc plugin on my plugin install list. I will look into it and see how this tool can help me with my 10TB migration task. I have been studying a plugin called Krusader. From what I gather it is a file management system that is used to move data around from Share to Share or disk to disk. However, it was not clear to me if Krusader would be able to recognize my old RAID6 system so I could move files from a RAID6 system over to an UnRaid system. But after watching the Youtube video below I have become convinced Krusadar is the right plugin for this task: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0XCFPAsWZE It is recommended UnAssinged Devices plugin also be installed together with Krusader which I plan to do. Again, thanks for your help.
  10. Can anyone please suggest the plugins I need to consider installing that will help me in migrating 10TB of data from my old RAID6 system over to my new UnRaid system. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  11. Fellow Forum Members, I am installing the Community Application Plugin but I need some advice on how to proceed afterward. What plugins do I need to install if my goal is to transfer 10TB of data from my old RAID6 system over to my new UnRaid system? My plan is to mate both computers together with a CAT6 cable. But what Plugins are essential tools I am going to need to complete my 10TB data migration task after both PCs are mated together with a CAT6 cable? I would appreciate it a lot if somebody could recommend a short list of the Plugins I should consider installing that will help me complete my migration task. Thank you for your time.
  12. Greetings Fellow Forum Members, I am about to install the "Community Applications Plugin". However, it is not clear to me where does the plugin app get installed? Does the plugin app end up installed on the same thumb drive I have my UnRaid OS installed? Or does it end up installed on my 1TB Cache SSD drive? Or does it end up installed on one of the 5 hard drive in my UnRaid Array? In short, I hope somebody can clarify for me what is the install location for "Community Applications Plugin"? Do I have the ability to select where to install it? And if yes, where is the best location to install such plugin software? Any tips will be greatly welcomed.
  13. I have a follow-up question regarding the error I got shown in my top opening post. After 15 hours of waiting my Parity setup process is now complete. However, after looking at the attached JPG file of my UnRAID GUI Dashboard I was left wondering if a PLUGINS folder needs to be showing where I have indicated in the attached JPG with the word "PLUGINS" shown in RED? (Right below the System folder in the SHARES section). The error mentions "failed to open stream local/emhttp/plugins" so this makes me wonder if in the SHARES section of the dashboard there should be a Security Stream called "PLUGINS"? I am suspecting this because the error mentions the words "STREAM" and "PLUGINS" and the Dashboard GUI mentions "Security Stream" but no "PLUGINS". In short, I would appreciate it a lot if anyone out there can take a look at their Dashboard and let me know if a "Plugins" folder appears anywhere in the SHARES section of your Dashboard. Thank you.
  14. Fellow Forum Members, My new UnRaid Server build includes two Samsung DVD drives. However, I am confused to see the DVD drives do not appear on my UnRaid GUI dashboard. Why doesn't the UnRAID OS dashboard tab show icons for DVD drives? The purpose for the DVD drives is to transfer data from DVD discs straight to my UnRaid Server Cache Drive. So I am confused how I can accomplish such a task if my UnRAID OS is not recognizing my two DVD Drives which by the way are recognized in my SuperMicro motherboard BIOS BOOT section. Does it require I perform some special UnRAID OS configuration task after my Parity check process concludes in another 10 hours so my DVD drives become operational? Or does it require I setup a Windows emulated machine inside my UnRaid server so I can be able to work with DVD discs? Any advice will be welcomed.
  15. Thank you Squid for the advice. Good to know I can ignore this error. It's a big relief for now. Nevertheless, after the parity setup process is done in another 10 hours I am going to see about scheduling a job. My hope is this will make this error no longer appear at the end of my UnRaid OS bootup process.
  16. Greetings Fellow Forum Members, The error shown below appeared at the very end of my new UnRaid OS initial bootup. I installed the UnRaid OS using the UnRaid USB Creator tool and chose the STABLE option to install the UnRaid OS in the form of a download onto my Lexar thumbdrive. What does the error below mean? And is it a serious error I need to address or will it just fix itself? Warning: file_put_contents(/boot/config/plugins/dynamix/monitor.cron): failed to open stream local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/Include/Wrappers/php on line 20 I can confirm that when I click on the PLUGINS tab in the UnRaid GUI the status message I see is, " No Plugins Installed". Which is correct because I have not yet installed any plugins. I have about 13 hours left in the Parity setup process left to go. Does this error I got require I shutdown this Parity Process and start all over again? I'm thinking for the second time I will install the UnRaid OS from the EXE file and not as an online download. If it not necessary I start all over again, what is the fix to error shown above? Thank you for any advice.
  17. Fellow Forum Members, I have a 1TB SSD and a 200GB SDD. My plan is to dedicate the 1TB strictly for moving files from DVD discs to my UnRAID array. In other words, as a cache disc. And as for the 200GB SSD I plan to strictly use it for only installing UnRaid plugin apps. Is such a setup a good idea or a bad idea? And more importantly does the latest version of the UnRaid OS support such a setup? Or is the correct approach to follow is to install all the UnRaid plugin apps on the same USB stick the UnRaid OS occupies? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  18. Greetings, Is the APC BR1500MS 1500 VA Pure SineWave 10 Outlets 2 USB Charging Ports Back-UPS Pro Battery Backup device shown in the link below adequate to use with my UnRaid Array build? What I mean by "adequate" is I need a UPS device that will allow my UnRaid system to shut down correctly in the event I lose power in my house. From what I gather this requires my UnRaid system be linked to the UPS via a USB connection and I am wondering if this particular UPS supports such a capability? If no, can anyone please provide any UPS recommendations that best work with the UnRAID OS feature that relates to correctly shutting down the UnRaid Array in the event the power goes out. Any opinions welcome. https://www.newegg.com/apc-br1500ms-4-x-nema-5-15r-6-x-nema-5-15r/p/N82E16842301700?item=N82E16842301700&utm_medium=Email&utm_source=IGNEFL112720&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL112720-_-EMC-112720-Index-_-UPS-_-42301700-S8A1A&ignorebbr=1
  19. Thank you to all for your posts. Upgrading my UnRaid OS from within the webUI is something I considered. However, my concern is now that I have added a cache disk and 3 more data drives making the new configuration changes is going to be too complicated. Therefore, I figured if I start over again with a fresh UnRaid OS install onto a newly formatted USB stick I can bypass configuration complications and just let the new UnRaid OS install automatically configure the new cache disk and 3 new data hard drives. Nevertheless, does the UnRaid OS have a feature that will allow me to reset back to its original state? My idea now is to not connect any of the data drives and just bootup the UnRaid OS alone. It will probably give me a warning that my UnRaid Array is corrupt due to the missing data hard drives. But then I could upgrade to the latest version within the webUI. Bottom line is, how can I erase the entire old UnRaid Array and reset the OS to an original state?
  20. Fellow Forum Members, Some 5 months ago I successfully created an Unraid Server build. Now 5 months later I want to build myself a bigger system plus add a cache disk and simply cut no corners this time. My plan is to format all of the 6 data hard drives and also erase my USB stick so I can install the latest Unraid OS. Will I experience license activation problems by erasing the USB stick and then installing a newer version of the UnRaid OS? I paid for my license key some 11 months ago. When formatting the 6 data drives does UnRaid OS prefer the Ext4, NTFS or Fat32 standard to format the data drives in? Any advice will be appreciated.
  21. SaveIIM, Can you share details for the Dual 10gbe network card you purchased? I'm thinking of getting one to install onto my SuperMicro Motherboard . Would you say it is a lot faster compared to the Ethernet network connections that are built into a motherboard?
  22. Thank you to all for your posts. It's good to know that as hard drives with greater capacity come out in the future, UnRaid Parity Drives have the ability to accommodate new hard drive technology. I have decided it is smarter to just hold off on buying 18TB hard drives and just wait for the price to go down on them. Once it does then I will rearrange my UnRaid array.
  23. Fellow Forum Members, My UnRaid array setup includes two 8TB Parity Drives and eight 8TB Data Drives for a total of 10 hard drives. Recently, Western Digital started selling 18TB GOLD hard drives. I am thinking once the price goes down I will like to buy three 18TB drives. However, is re-configuring my UnRaid OS as shown in the bullet list below possible without breaking the entire UnRaid Array? I want to format the two 8TB Parity Drives and convert them to Data Drives. I want two new 18TB drives to take over as Parity Drives. I want to add one 18TB drive as a Data Drive. At the end of all this hard drive swapping around my UnRaid Array will have 13 hard drives. However, is the UnRaid OS flexible enough to accept such changes without breaking down? What is the correct way to swap two smaller capacity Parity Drives with two bigger capacity Parity Drives? Is there a risk of losing actual data by performing such a Parity Drive swap? Any opinion welcome.
  24. Fellow Forum Members, Western Digital has introduced a new GOLD 18TB Enterprise Hard Drive. They claim it is CMR and not SMR. Nevertheless, will my UnRaid OS I installed back in January 2020 support a hard drive with a capacity as big as 18TB without installing an UnRaid OS update? Or will it be necessary to update my UnRaid OS to the latest version to support such a big 18TB hard drive? Is hard drive capacity even a concern as it relates to the UnRaid OS? I ask because a 20TB hard drive is due to start selling soon. Will the UnRaid OS need to be updated as well to support 20TB hard drives? Any opinions welcome and thanks for your time.
  25. Fellow Forum Members, Is there any benefit to buying a Supermicro motherboard with quad Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports over a Supermicro motherboard equipped with dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports? The quad option offers an additional two LAN ports but it is not clear to me what I can do with two extra LAN ports now or in the future. Can someone explain what expansion capabilities and/or benefits two additional LAN ports offer? What kind of devices be connected to two spare LAN ports that will make them worthwhile to have? Any opinions welcome.
