  1. finally got around to do memtest, let it ran over night, 10 hours, zero error
  2. thanks. it does support UASP, even tho I don't understand it, but going back to the amazon listing where I purchased it, it states so... I will do memtest, and report back with any finding.
  3. so I got a refurb WD HDD, ran pre-clear, the first full pre-clear, it failed at the very end of post-read, pre-read and zero were fine. I didn't save any logs, since I thought if the disk is bad, I'll just ask the merchant for a replacement. no big deal. but, before I initiate replacement call, it doesn't hurt to run preclear again, just to confirm, right? so I ran preclear the 2nd time, and it passed without a hitch. so now I'm confused, is there any problem with this HDD? is this common? it's connect to my unraid rig via external-powered sata-usb adapter for HDD to run preclear. Thanks.
  4. Hi, so I waited a bit, it just so happens I had new HDDs coming in and was running preclear, I waited for that disk to complete pre-clear first in case I need it to step in to replace disk 2. so per your suggestion, what I found was that disk 2 is fine, or so I think. it's a shucked WD HDD with those 3.3V pin, the tape that I put on to block the pin got loose somehow, once I checked the cables and reapplied new tape, Disk 2 becomes available again upon boot up. Even though I don't know what else to look for before jumping to conclusion but I think Disk 2 is fine...if it is, could you update the link to procedure for "re-enable the drive" you originally posted at or do their reddit discussion also cover the correct procedure? I really don't want to rebuild the entire parity if I could avoid it...thanks so much for everything! unryzend-diagnostics-20240131-0029.zip
  5. thank you. the failed drive is disk 2 unryzend-diagnostics-20240129-1020.zip
  6. I too just got my first failed drive for the first time, if someone could take a look at the smart report (no rebooting of the system over night, woke up in the morning and saw the red X) that would be much appreciated, while I'm still searching for to-do list and learning what to do. thanks. unryzend-smart-20240128-1234.zip
  7. v6.12rc2 did the trick, thank you! so relieved I don't have to scramble for hardware solutions.
  8. hi, sorry, can I trouble you again? so I checked the cables and upgraded bios, rebuild went smoothly for about 70% before I went to sleep, system crashed when I got up in the morning requiring hard reboot, once logged in notified me rebuild failed with tons of errors. this is the first diagnostics I pulled before starting the array, but after reboot... all the disks with errors are connected directly to the onboard sata ports, but I'm bit perplexed why the initial parity rebuild went thru without any trouble, but a new data disk a day later is giving me all this hassel. unryzend-diagnostics-20230329-0916.zip
  9. unryzend-diagnostics-20230327-0905.zip last week I first upgraded my parity to 18tb disk, that went without a hitch, completed with no errors and warnings. then I tried to upgrade disk 7, from 8tb to a brand new 14tb (already stress tested) and half way thru, all kinds of errors started popping out (reading errors?). and this is my 2nd attempt, it already happened once over the weekend, I tried shutting it down and checked all cables and started over, but apparently this is more complicated than I can handle on my own. thanks.
  10. thanks. I got stuck here as well. adding disk no.12 after more than a year, suddenly lost all senses what I'm supposed to be doing
  11. if I'm not posting in the correct section, please let me know. thanks. ever since updating Unassigned Devices a week ago, one of my previously working portable drive started showing up as "array" in UD, instead of "mount/unmount". my go around is to stop the array and re-start again, or reboot, then UD will correctly allow me to "mount/unmount" it, but then, once I unplugged that drive, do my thing with it, replug it back in, it's back to "array" in UD once more, requiring the go-around again. it's not a critical issue as there are go-arounds, but if someone knows how I can do without restarting my whole array everytime I want to transfer some files, that'd be really neat. Thanks.
  12. thanks. it's in the process of data rebuild now (from 6tb to 12tb). parity check afterwards?
  13. it went thru the 2nd time around, wish I had anything meaningful to add, but just glad it's working.
  14. yikes, I did, sorry...I'll make another update, later.
  15. I followed the instructions https://wiki.unraid.net/The_parity_swap_procedure my scenario: 12tb parity, 6tb data drive, new 14tb drive. I wanted to replace the 12tb parity drive with 14tb, and use the 12tb to replace the 6tb drive. I felt pretty confident since that's exactly the scenario the parity swap procedure is intended for. I followed the instruction down to step 14, after 24 hours of copying 100%, I didn't get "The Start button will now be present, and the description will now indicate that it is ready to start a Data-Rebuild." but the same "COPY" button again, did the parity drive copy fail? IDK, except the only option I have is to try to copy parityagain. not sure if another 24 hours of copying will amount to anything. any tips would be much appreciated. unryzend-diagnostics-20201208-2234.zip
  16. thanks for your help. I think I've nailed it down eventually to xfs corruption in the new 12TB drive. I don't know the whats and whys, but prior to upgrading the new drive, I manually relocated every file from the old 3TB, so it was empty, and the new 12TB certain was empty. Somehow it became corrupted to cause the parity rebuild failure? or the parity rebuild failure caused it to become corupted? after new config, a new sympton arose that I couldn't relocate any file to the new 12TB, krusader stalled. copy/move files from disc A, stalled, c/m files from disc B stalled, but c/m files between A and B work, let me to believe something's wrong with the new 12TB, and checked the filesystem, and xfs_repair solved it. I still don't know the whats and whys, but everything is working out fine now from what I can see. And thanks for your help again.
  17. after having some problems with upgrading one of my data drives and rebuilding parity afterwards, I ended up starting a new config new partity, and removed and reinstalled krusader. right now, krusader is the only docker installed, now I'm having this problem: whenever I tried to copy or move a file from one data disk to another, it would stall completely around 50% mark (speed goes from near 200mb and dwindle to a complete halt). thanks in advance. unryzend-diagnostics-20200327-1614.zip
  18. non-OC ram with 2nd-gen Ryzen 3, though the 3x8GB config are not of the same speed. I can't find email receipts for them, but the 1st 8GB ddr4 stick is 2133mh? and the later 2 more 8GB ddr4 sticks are 2666mh (maybe?) bought as a pair when cheap. I only can speak certain at this point they are on different clock, but the system has been running stable at the lower clock speed for couple of months now. prior parity checks had multiple zero error sessions before the latest one had 300 errors, all with the current 3x8GB RAM config. I'm not sure what to do with the mounted unassigned device, w/o the rest of my parity in a limbo right now, more instructions please, thanks.
  19. I just completed 24 hours of memtest, 24G (though the awkward 3x8GB config) 7 passes, no error. 1st parity rebuild afterwards still stops at 2% mark. how do you mean by getting problems fixed (prior errors?) and/or the original disk? I tried with the original 3TB drive (12T out), Unraid won't allow me, my build is now locked to the 12TB drive even though a parity rebuild was never successfully completed. I guess as a last resort I'll just delete my build profile and start anew, I'm fine with that. but any more pointers to avoid that resolution would be great.
  20. does this look like anything? I'm not sure. tried unsuccessfully setting up a remote syslog server, resorted to store syslog locally to the flash drive, the attachment is the only file (after the latest crash) from the flash that looks remotely close to a syslog file, though not even in .txt format, I added the extension to read it. not sure if I'm even logging the syslog right, suggestions would be appreciated. syslog.txt
