  1. I suppose my biggest concern/question is that when i used teracopy to move the data to the server, confirmed checksum...wouldn't that have told me if the files were corrupt? If not, how do I change the UUID and mount the two (intact) old drives, one at a time, that i have to make it so I can copy them over? Or am i better off trying to rerip all the files on those disks (yes i have them) and just go from there? Thank you, Ice
  2. Last few questions (I hope and so do you...lol), Can I just play the media that's been added to see if it is okay, then copy the whole drive if it is. Then reformat the disk and return the files to the disks, then rebuild the parity? I am assuming this is one of the few downsides to xfs file system? Thanks loads, Ice
  3. So I am looking at those 4 disks and pulling the data off them completely and then replacing it if I can? Now here's is the biggest question. What if I do this gradually after replacing that drive, since it is a JBOD system wouldn't this corruption go to all drives containing any of the data affected? I am thinking of an 8tb external USB and would I be able to use Krusader to do the copies, or am I stuck doing it via windows from the shares?
  4. Okay, a little beyond me... I do have two of the old drives untouched, can I just re add them in their previous places and then copy the data from the affected drives (the ones I dont have). Then copy it back on to the server and rebuild the parity that way...then replace the drives again? I always use teracopy so everything goes on to the server correctly, can I use that to do the copies? Is there an easier way, considering there is so much data? What is wierd though is this is a media server and I haven't noticed a single corrupt file and have played everything I added since the replacement, or doesnt that matter
  5. Also, this corruption...how do I go about fixing it once I have the new drive installed I am assuming to not add anything to the server until this is sorted out, correct? Here are the complete diags. mediaserver1-diagnostics-20180808-1409.zip Thanks all
  6. Under the extended test I saw the sector count and submitted for an rma...replacement on the way since the drive is only 6 mos old...:). When it comes in should I be okay to preclear, replace and rebuild without any other expected problems? I do see some crc errors on my cache drive but I will take care of that when this is done Thanks again for all the help, Ice
  7. The smart data on both tests show no errors "completed without error" and the log shows 'no errors logged' running another set now edit From my post above -
  8. Yes I set up notifications but saw no problems...could this just be a cable issue? I saw that the notifications tab was off.... So i pulled the drive and tested with WD software (since this drive is newer 12/2017) it checked out fine. I am now running a file system check, should I order a new drive just for backup?
  9. I am finding so errors after replacing three older drives and running the rebuild. I have run a parity check (with correction) between each replacement, to make sure it remained valid. However upon the those checks it has Given me this: It has not done this in a very long time, if ever. Please find the log attached below since I am at a loss. Thank you so much for the help, Ice 07-08-2018_server_log.rar
  10. Is it normal that once installed this, not only takes forever to load a large library, but this also seems to really not like any really large files. To explain, I have part of my library which is average sized (6-10gb) x264 mkv's and it likes those just fine. On the other hand i have a growing number remuxed x264's (25-40gb) and x265 HEVC's (25-50gb 7.1 dolby atmos) and it hartes those.when the library is loading in it freezes sold, and won't get past it. On the other hand I can just go to my htpc and run anything I want from kodi (just none of the features that a media server like plex gives me). I have messed around with plex and emby since way back and like them both, but plex so far is not liking my collection which is growing towards 46TB at this time. I just did a complete metadata rewrite for my files with metabrowser (manually - ouch), and upgraded to 6.5.0 unraid. The install is the most recent docker plex by you, installed though the gui. Should i just keep pluging away at it, or am I missing something? I just need some pointers I guess. Thanks for all, Ice
  11. A while ago I changed over my sever array to xfs format, but i forgot to change over my cache drive (which, in my case, doesn't seem to be used for much at all). it's a 250gb samsung pro with 100gb of it given to docker. at this point I don't seem to have anything on it at all, since upgrading to 6.5.0 a few days ago I uninstalled all but a few addons and all docker containers. Now seems like a good time it to format it to xfs. Is there anything special i should be aware of to look out for during this process? It seems like a backup and restore after format should be it, am I correct in thinking this?
  12. This topic can be marked solved, upgraded to 6.5.0 no issues as of yet, thanks for all the help
  13. Thanks Squid, my only questions that remain (at this point...lol) is that if I decide to enable later on down the road, am I better off trying to deal with that now, or just wait till then? And what is the best media server to use with 6.5 for small device streaming?
  14. When I go to VM manager (advanced view) I see three "path does not exist warnings" for the first three entries (Libvert storage, Default VM, Default ISO). I do not have any VM's installed and have not enabled them. Do I need to fix this, and if so how?
  15. Yeah, my server only touches the internet to update. I do all my metadata manually with software from my main PC. So anything that goes on or into my server goes through my pc which has pretty good security. It is a hassle, but I will say having two completely separate networks in your home is pretty nice
  16. Unless it is really, really important, meaning impending doom if I don't upgrade...lol I just don't seem to have enough time for now. I also only use dolphin (docker) and am looking into plex MS, which seems to be hit or miss on 6.5.0 when looking through the plex forums. I don't even really use a cache drive, as I set it up for app installs but only use these few apps. When I need to upgrade it I will make the time, but for now it runs great Thanks again, Ice
  17. Well after reading that post, I was right, I'll stay with 6.3.5 lol Thanks for the info
  18. Well I rewrote the bzimage and bzroot over the apparently botched upgrade and got it back the way it was, everything is working now with no issues. I think I will stick with 6.3.5 for now lol. but i going to have to install plex media server when i get a chance...another adventure. I was also looking around for instructions that included which files to get and where. But I will post that to the correct forum So I guess this can be tagged as solved (with many, many questions as to why the upgrade won't work)
  19. I just upgraded from 6.3.5 to 6.5.0 via the GUI and once rebooted I can no longer login to my server via gui, Windows actually sees it but when going to shares all I see is my flash drive (array not mounted is this issue, correct?). Three questions: How do I log back in (i cant even seem to get to a syslog) What is the command to mount array Can i reload 6.3.5 by writing over the top of my install on my flash, or even write 6.5.0 over the top of the existing os to get this working, wihtout losing data?
  20. Thanks so much, I remember some of those times
  21. I have two drives that are not assigned to the array, they are on the mobo controller. I have left them unassigned since i am upgrading to a new board/cpu/memory at the end of the year, to allow for a third 8 port controller. I am finding myself low on space and my question is: If I assign the drives to the array now, can I move them over to the new controller later without loss of data?
