  1. wow, that actually worked....I hadn't bothered to restart because I was having the same issue from the other 2 computers that I tried from. Do you know what causes this issue? How can Windows access all the other shares, but not this one?
  2. I'm having a similar issue to this older post... I can access all the shares except for the flash. When I try to access it through Windows explorer, I get the following error: Basically, I can see it listed, but when I try to open it, it can't find the path. This was an upgrade from 4.7 to 5.0-rc10. I removed all the extra stuff, so it's basically a clean install, but with my existing disk/share configuration. I did run the new permissions util. I'll be running it again while I wait for a response on this issue. ls -l /boot mount testparm -s Thank you, Adrian syslog.txt
  3. hmm you're right, I must have somehow gone to the home page before searching. Thank you
  4. ok, I guess excluding the directories that I rarely access would help. I'll give that a shot. hehe...well if you could convince me that it would be fast enough to be worth it maybe I could get inspired
  5. Is there anything I can do to make it quit faster? Whenever I'm working on my server and it requires multiple shutdowns, it's a real hassle to shutdown as the server is waiting on the drives to unmount. Using -q doesn't do anything, it still keeps going. I have to kill multiple Find processes manually before it finally finishes. Thanks, Adrian Unraid 4.7
  6. I'm not sure if this forum supports it, maybe a newer version or setting has to be changed, but with the shear size of some of these threads, it would be nice to be able to search a specific thread.
  7. yeah, I had to dig a bit deeper as there are a lot of older posts talking about the firmware issues, but after I found the recent ones I got my confirmation. So all looks good with these Samsung drives. Still only on the first drive preclear. Yeah, this is an existing unraid server that I've had running for a long time. I'm using the same SYBA SY-PEX40008 contollers that I've been using for past couple years. Never had an issue with them, so I keep sticking with them. Thanks, Adrian
  8. Been out of the unraid scene for a while, but wanted to double check on some things. I'm currently running 4.7 and up until now, I've been running with strictly 1.5TB Seagates. I'm about to jump to 2TB drives and may be mixing in some green/eco drives. 1. From what I've gathered, it's recommended to try and keep the parity drive as a 7200 RPM drive. I was looking at using a Hitachi 2TB 7K3000 as my parity drive. 2. I also have some Samsung HD204UI, which I picked up from a friend at a great deal new, that I will be using as data drives. These are dated 03/2011 and from what I've read, as long as the drive was manufactured after 11/2010 it will have the fixed firmware. 3. Also the Samsung's are Advanced Format drives, so using them in 4.7 is fine. And when pre-clearing them I should use the -A option. Thanks, Adrian
  9. Yup, that's the same thing I concluded. That last symptom (shares being listed that didn't exist) helped me do some different searches and came up with posts pointed towards MS offline file sync. I enabled it and went through some cleanup procedure yesterday and then disabled it. I'm waiting to see if it happens again, but I think this may have been the problem so should hopefully be fixed. I recall a long time ago messing with Sync Center for some project and I may have been testing with the TV Shows folder. Crossing fingers Thanks again, Adrian
  10. btw, anyone who finds this post and tries to use the link provided, the documentation may be organized incorrectly when you look at it. It's not below, it's above as of today. It drove me nuts for a while as I kept searching the forums trying to find an answer to my problem and everyone kept linking to the docs which are currently slightly incorrect.
  11. Actually, it just happened again. It was fine (except I was getting a disk full error which it shouldn't), so I rebooted it and then it happened again. I've attached the syslog from right after I started shutting it down for the 2nd time to try and fix the share access issue. And I also doubled checked using my wife's computer which also runs Windows 7. It can access it fine. So obviously I'm suspecting something about my desktop, which while runs Windows 7, it is a bit different as it runs 64 bit. I'm going to restart my desktop now which usually fixes this issue. Here's an interesting new symptom. I currently have the array stopped. All all computers, except mine, when I browse to the server, the only share I see is flash as expected. But on my desktop, I see flash and the TV Shows share that I keep having problems with. So the question is, how can Windows see a share that technically doesn't exist? syslog-2011-10-24-1.zip
  12. Yes all my machines can access it expect my main desktop. I'm still waiting for it to happen again.
  13. I'll get you a recent syslog, but don't think that will help as it's going to be pretty much the same as the previous one. Remember, when this happens, I can still access it from other machines. But not from my Windows 7 desktop. Also, I can access (read/write) the disk directly, just not the share. BTW, just to confirm this is what I will run on each drive replacing /dev/sda1 for each drive? reiserfsck --check /dev/sda1 Do I need to do anything special before doing this? Stop the array?
  14. I still keep running into this problem and it's getting annoying as hell. Is there ANYONE out there that can help me? The only way I've occasionally been able to fix it is after rebooting. But now after a new reboot, it failed to go away.
  15. Nope. Security settings are exactly the same as they've been since I put together the server.
  16. I'd like to add that I can access the folders by going directly to specific drives, just not through the combined shared.
  17. I'm running version 4.7 and have had my server for a couple of years now (ie. not a new installation) I have 8 shares configured, but today when I went to access one on of them I couldn't get passed the top level share folder. All the subfolders under it would give me a permission error saying it was not accessible. The other 7 shares all work fine. It's been fine for many many months. I haven't upgraded anything either. The only thing I have done recently that I've never done before is use Scripted Shutdown option found in the unRAID-Web interface. If anyone can point me in the right direction to resolve this I'd really appreciate it. Thank you, Adrian syslog-2011-09-26.txt
  18. I did a search and didn't get any hits, so I wanted to let you all know about my recent upgrade. I recently hit the capacity of my Cooler Master 590, but didn't really want to start swapping out 1.5TB drives with 2 or 3s nor did I want to go with a Norco. Well while searching for a new case I ran into this monster. Xigmatek Elysium http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=122 It basically allows you the same type of setup as a Cooler Master 590 plus an additional 3x 5.25" bays, allowing for a 4th 4x3 cage to be added for a total of 16 drives in a very quiet configuration. It comes with 2 cages, so those of you going from a CM 590 can reuse 2 of your existing cages. If you suffer from OCD, Xigmatek also makes the same cages which are all black like the case available at Newegg. It has lots of slots for managing cables. It also has built in connectors for the cage fans five at the bottom and five at the top. In the top front, besides the usual header connections for USB, audio and fire wire, it also has an eSata port and get this, a built in HDD dock as well! The only thing I had to do was remove some metal brackets it had inside behind the cages (like 3 of them) because they interfered with getting the CM cages in. But they were held with screws, so not an issue. So basically it's a CM 590 on steroids. As for where I got it. Newegg sells them, but I ended up getting them at my local Microcenter who price matches Newegg, so got it for $171+tax locally avoiding the shipping. Also since no one else had bought it, I wanted to be able to return it locally if it didn't work.
  19. This is probably something old, but as someone who hates warnings, I like to see things clean. I was wondering what causes the warning 'Package has not been created with 'makepkg'? I always get this when unraid_notify is being installed. Thanks, Adrian
  20. Right there, home page, middle right, they have a picture of the enclosure and they say they build Backblaze Pod enclosures. They already have the designs. You have to click on it to send them an email about it. They just make enclosures, so the rest of the parts you'd have to get on your own, but it shouldn't be that difficult to get seeing as they posed an entire parts list.
  21. If you are looking for the Backblaze Pod enclosures, you can find them here. http://www.protocase.com/
  22. Just don't count on the 16X slot for your sata controllers. Most don't work in those slots on Gigabyte motherboards.
  23. Yeah, CoolerMaster 590 is a great case, it's what I have.
  24. For anyone looking at buying this board, please be aware that neither of the two PCI-E 16X slots support 1X expansion cards. 4X and 8X may work, but definitely not 1X. Other than that, the board is working extremely well for me.
