February 10, 201115 yr Is there a way to copy files to the unraid server while checking the data? surely it can be done manually but it would involve creating a lot of par or sfv files to check the files. are ther any programs or methods recommended? thanks in advance
February 10, 201115 yr If you are copying files from windows I suggest Teracopy. It has a built in verify feature that performs a CRC check. http://www.codesector.com/teracopy.php

February 10, 201115 yr Author thanks for the replies. that sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. do you know if the free version does the crc check? cheers! edit: seems the free version does the crc check, great!
February 11, 201115 yr Free Version does CRC checks. Don't really know if there is a version for Mac. I did find this and thought it was kinda interesting. http://www.xtraaz.com/ultracopy-teracopy-alternative-for-mac-os/
February 11, 201115 yr Another vote for TeraCopy. Most of the time, I can queue files from multiple folders and each subsequent queue of files will wait to begin their transfer once the previous queue has completed. Occasionally, this has failed, so I don't rely on it. I'll start the smallest group(s) of files from any dir, then queue up the largest for last. This way I can watch the smaller transfers complete while I'm still at my workstation, ensuring the big one begins and I can go do something else.
February 11, 201115 yr Author great feature too that it queues files for copy instead of starting them altogether. I've been wondering why windows didn't do this for years. would this program be useful when moving files from and to an internal disks in the server? I am planning to have an extra disk mainly for torrent and usenet in the server. not yet decided /figured out if this will also be an cache disk.
February 11, 201115 yr I find TeraCopy useful for ALL file maintenance. I should mention it's used as part of Total Commander. Total Commander is my Windows Explorer replacement, but I had been use TeraCopy for some time alongside WE before I switched to Total Commander. I believe in the menu options for TeraCopy, there is an option to include in Total Commander. The icons are at the top of the window. I've been using the Sync Dir option in Total Commander quite a bit and it is fantastic. Place two dirs side by side and click the button. It highlights all duplicated files, and shows what is different between the two.

February 11, 201115 yr Is there a version or a Mac version? You can try mucommander i'm using that on my imac http://www.mucommander.com/ mucommander is a kind off total commander but then for every OS
February 11, 201115 yr Does mucommander do a crc check? I select Verify when coping, but I looked it up for you on the source "mucommanders forum" From de site admin of mucommand on there forums: by selecting the 'Verify data integrity' option in the 'Copy', 'Move' and 'Unpack' dialogs, files will be checksumed after they are transferred to ensure they are strictly identical on the source and destination. If you are moving files and the destination doesn't match the source, the source will not be deleted

I was able to view disk3 on the left and disk2 on the right in Total Commander and TeraMove files directly among those disks. The time to complete didn't seem to be twice as long as normal. Still around 35MB/s. Maybe I'm not understanding your comment.
