Vm service is disabled after a power failure

Featured Replies

Hi,

For now my unraid is not using a UPS. When I can I will put it, I will. Every time there is a power failure, the VM service is disabled, requiring me to go manually and activate. The VM is running in the cache, so it does not use the array at the time of verification. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Please post the diagnostics: Tools -> Diagnostics

Stop the array and do a clean reboot, then post new diags after array start.

P.S. there's an unassigned 3TB Seagate spamming the log, if you're not using it disconnect it.

I disconnected the seagate. when i restarted cleanly the vm service returned normally. I simulated the problem by forcing a wrong shutdown by pressing the power button holding it. VM Manager returns disabled and does not start vms. I had to manually enable this service.

Strange that it doesn't auto start after an unclean shutdown, but first thing would be to avoid those.

When I do a clean shutdown, the vm manager works normally, coming back activated

When a forced, unclean shutdown occurs, the vm manager returns disabled

In the case of the diagnosis, I simulated an unclean shutdown to see why it is not activated again

Like mentioned avoid unclean shutdowns, they can cause other issues.

I still don’t have a UPS, I’ll provide it when I can. The Vm that needs to come back is the one of the Home Assistant who maintains the automation of my home. If she doesn’t come back and I’m out of the house, it’s difficult. Is there no solution for this case? I have 3 friends who also have unraid and it doesn't happen to them, so I find it strange.

It is strange, it should still start, and there's no error, it's like the setting changes to disable, you can try toggling VM service off then on, but doubt it helps.

fiz o que vc pediu, desativei, e ativei.. na volta olha o que acontece...

eu acho realmente que tem algo a ver com o libvirt

Pleas post new diags.

deleted the libvirt, removed the one that existed.

That's expected, libvirt is where the XMLs are stored, and should always have a backup.

I also have the same problem: when there is a power failure the system restarts but does not enable the virtual machine service, which must be re-enabled manually.
Has anyone figured out what the problem could be and therefore its solution?

Not without posting your diagnostics

The problem seems common to me, I find several posts, and I don't think it depends on the configuration of the individual machines. It looks like an unraid bug

Unlikely.  But there's also no way to tell without the diags

Thank you very much for your help after loading the diagnostics ...

I too have the same behavior.   When my server has an unclean reboot, VM is disabled.  Is this a bug in Unraid?

For me it is a very obvious unraid bug. Being a fairly widespread bug I don't think it depends on the configuration of the single machines.
However I have no way to ascertain this and the help on the forum, despite the upload of the diagnostics, was null.

same issue here did anyone figure it out?

Same Problem here. Just had a power outage and my VMs(one of them being home assistant which needs to come back asap) didnt come back up. Has happened before in the same way. VM service is disabled after power outage.
