You can, changing cables won't change anything like that, disks are assigned using their serial numbers.

I found this on Reddit, Will I destroy any chance of recovery doing the following:

Go to Tools -> New Config. Then add the drives back into the array.

It will clear the old config and allow you to create a new array. Any data on missing disk(s) will be gone, but it will keep whatever is on the current disks.

 

So I would lose the missing disk data? Not a good solution, IMO
