Week Long Debug Trying to Install Unraid on new USB

I started the week having an unbootable USB. I've since installed Unraid on a new USB, gotten through QEMU issues booting to get the OS up, and have watched the Spaceinvader One video to learn the new pooling mechanics and have setup pools with my unassigned drives. What I'm having problems with is my docker and vm setup.

 

When I was able to get my vm functionality turned on, I was not able to see any graphics cards nor my sound card in the options for devices. I went into my MB and fixed the vt-d concerns (again thanks to Spaceinvader One) and was hoping that everything would be working now. Instead, I've hit a wall where I see ```Docker Service failed to start.``` when I navigate to the Docker tab, I see ```Libvirt Service failed to start.``` when I navigate to the VM tab, and I'm not sure what to try next. I tried stopping them and clearing their folders for their shares to start fresh, but that doesn't seem to have helped. Below is my hardware profile. Would greatly appreciate any tips, tricks, or missteps I may have made that I could try again and clean it up.

@itimpi any chance of getting an extra set of eyes here this week? I've been holding off making any changes to the system waiting on feedback, but now I'm thinking I could start another USB stick with a trial unraid server to try and get a separate instance working leaving this USB off to the side. Having the media server and VMs offline for well over a week is starting to cause large issues with my workflow though so I'm trying to figure out my best path forward.

docker.img appeared to mount during boot, but isn't seen in df now.

 

Maybe docker.img got corrupted when you filled cache_ssd, though it's also possible that disk1 problems are to blame, since your system share has files on both, as does your appdata.

@trurl what would the best way be to get back to a happy state? I've made a new USB but it doesn't seem like that's going to help anything at this point? The new USB boots, I setup the shares to not use the cache, the parity drive is filling, I've deleted the docker.img file to start from scratch but I still got an error when I tried to start docker for the first time after deletion

 

What can I do to remove the problematic settings and restore full functionality? I don't mind losing my existing VMs, nor my community app dockers, I'm just looking to not lose my existing data/files on the server and start clean/from scratch to build and then run docker and vms.

A point to note: Is that setting Use Cache=No does not cause any files to be moved from cache to array (you need Use Cache=Yes for this to happen).   Also, despite the ‘No’ setting if a file already exists on the cache (e.g docker.img) then it will be used.    I mention this because your cache drive is nearly full.

 

I notice also that your ‘system’ share has files on both cache and disk1 so it is not clear where your docker.img file is located so it might be worth checking you do not have one in both locations (if you do the one on the cache is used preferentially).   Also you currently have the docker service disabled under Settings->Docker which is why you cannot use docker at the moment.

@itimpi I suspect my cache being used because the file already exists is the problem, from the "compute all" that @trurlI can now see where the different shares are located, but it looks like system is not currently on the cache, so when I deleted docker image file the first time that seems to have taken care of that issue? or is there still a problem with appdata? will the vm issue be similar in that the data is living in two places?

So here's the smart report, I've never had to engage with these before - are we looking to see if I have to buy a new HDD to replace a physical issue with the platter? Are there ways to digitally deal with the problem. I opened the .txt and see some things in there, whats actionable vs what's noise @itimpi(Feel free to also send me a link if I can education myself here)?
