Can't add drive that says it is precleared to array

This is a strange one, do you see the same error if you try to assign it for example as disk9?

Hello,

So I tried to add it as disk9, then 10, then 11, then 12 no luck the system refuses. I am just not sure why this is happening. If I format it as XFS it adds it just fine under UD but just don't get why I can't add it to the array.

I am submitting the Diagnostics for the last few attempts of me trying to add it to the array also. I Thank everyone for trying to help me on this. I guess I could just leave it the way I have it.

It is very strange as the error message when you try to add it says it is already in the array :)  Cannot think what might be causing this, but I expect it will be something easily fixed if we could only track it down.

Ok, so is there a way other than what I have tried to figure it out. I'm all for whatever you want me to try. I don't mind troubleshooting. I'm also glad to know you feel like it is something that is just making it think it is already attached.

Should I physically detach/disconnect it from the system and then reconnect it to see if that makes a difference?

Didn't notice before that drive is connected using USB, could be an issue with the USB bridge, please try with the disk connected to an onboard SATA port.

Ok, i will do that. Thanks for the follow up.

Ok, so I connected it to the system directly and it added it to the array and is now going through preclear for the drive.

Again, thank you for all the help in figuring this out you guys were awesome.

Yeah, you should avoid USB for array/pool devices, for many reasons.

I will do that it was a very good lesson on why you shouldn't, LOL.

Brilliant Catch. I was trying to look through the logs too. ;)
