wallis
I have mover set for once a day operation - the Scheduler sets it at 1:00 AM. However, I'm currently pulling in a lot of downloads and my SSD cache disk is filling up quickly, so I thought I'd invoke an unscheduled Move to clear some space in the cache. When I press the Move button on the Main page, nothing happens. I recall the Array Start button used to be disabled with a warning that Mover was running - but that isn't happening now and the Mover is not running. Can anybody offer any suggestions of where to look to fix this. Thanks Wallis Quote Link to comment
trurl
It is impossible to move from fast cache to slow array as fast as you can write to cache. And trying to move while writing to cache only makes it worse. Mover is intended for idle time, default is in the middle of the night. If you need to write more than cache can hold, don't cache. wallis
Doh! Thanks - I'll take the cache off while I'm doing these big downloads and reinstate it when things calm down. Wallis Quote Link to comment

wallis
Yes, I meant I'll switch the "Media" share caching to No until I finish the big downloads, then switch it back to Prefer later. Quote Link to comment

You might also get away with simply setting a value on the cache pool for the Minimum Free Space option that is larger than the downloads you will have running at the same time.. Shen free space drops below that then new files will automatically start by-passing the cache. Quote Link to comment
