September 1, 201114 yr Author Ok, I'm working on updating my antivirus to check my computer AND the unraid
September 1, 201114 yr Author Well, I'm running an in depth scan with NOD32 so let's see what it says. This is gonna take awhile 'cause I have around 8tb on the server

September 1, 201114 yr Author Well, I shall return in a bit. Gonna go out and get me some food while the virus scan is running. Thanks for the help so far
September 1, 201114 yr Author Oh well, my puter just crashed. It's been doing this lately. Is this something that could affect the unraid? They're only connected through the router. I restarted the virus check but this time, I set it to go straight for the unraid but it keeps stopping after a minute or less telling me it's finished scanning and that it scanned a few thousand files...I have a few million files. Anyone know what's going on? NOD32, v4

Anyone know what's going on? NOD32, v4 No clue on the original problem, but the virus scan is most likely set to only scan commonly infectable files, of which you may only have a few thousand. If you change the settings to scan all files, it should scan the full list. HOWEVER, that's probably not necessary, it's much more likely that the infection isn't on the unraid at all, much more likely it's on the windows drive.
September 1, 201114 yr Author Well, the settings DO say to scan all files and this thing still doesn't do it..? On the computer itself it seems to scan everything
September 1, 201114 yr Building on the cause from the link from earlier..wonder if when the mapped drives are lost (computer crashes), and these rmdir are from unRAID's attempt to spin down the drives ...when your W7 makes a new connection - these directories are not visible. Not thinking it is a virus...but a result of your W7 losing network connection and the mapped directory.
September 1, 201114 yr Why is it not likely there isn't a virus on the unraid? Most current viruses hook themselves into system files that are called early in the boot process, before you are even connected to the network, or even before the operating system itself loads. They may attempt to spread by infecting files on attached media later on, but the actual primary infection is typically on the main system volume. Do you by any chance have your unraid box set up to be accessible by you when you are not at home?

September 1, 201114 yr Not that I know of I wanted to but never could figure out how to do it What steps EXACTLY did you try? It's possible you succeeded without realizing it, especially if you forwarded ports on your router.
September 1, 201114 yr Author Well, I didn't try anything myself, the guy that set my stuff up did but never managed getting it to work and the consensus was that it had something to do with Windstream. I even called them and they directed me to a page with the instructions but he still never got it to work...however, he did try numerous times. I can get him to chime in here perhaps..well, I wrote to him so let's see if he chimes in. I'm getting out of the house for awhile but I'll take a puter with me to reply to questions although the Burger king wifi where I'll be connected is the sorriest wifi setup I've ever seen.

Is there any way you could go a day or 2 without an internet connection only when your unraid box was running? I'd be interested to see if the weirdness continues. In other words, disconnect your phone or cable from your modem during the periods that the unraid box is on. That would eliminate one possible cause of the unwanted deletions.
September 1, 201114 yr Author I guess I could but this is all I do so I would get super bored and it's not like I lose directories every day (that I know of anyway). It just happens that I noticed these.
September 1, 201114 yr Author Any other way to test? Could I say, leave the house and turn the connection off, get back to the house and turn the connection on but turn the unraid off or something? I mean, I won't die but I don't have a day job so I'd get bored as hell YES, I DO want to know what's going on though if that's gonna be what it takes
September 1, 201114 yr Author What's a netstat? BRiT, if I don't get a reply soon, I'll leave and I'll get on here when I get back. Been sittin' here all day and I have got to get out and clear my head a bit. All this with possibly losing my folders is getting to me and no, this isn't the only thing happening to me this week, it's been a $hitty week I shall return
September 2, 201114 yr Author Alright guys, it's still chugging along checking for virii. It's found 8 infiltrations so far but most of those I think are of stuff that I've downloaded years ago so I doubt that's it but we'll see. So, any way to make nod32 check the unraid? Should I disconnect it from the router? Don't want to lose more files. I also have client files here which I'd hate to have to recreate.
September 2, 201114 yr What steps EXACTLY did you try? It's possible you succeeded without realizing it, especially if you forwarded ports on your router. Bridged modem, forwarded ports, created dynamic dns host, final result was the box is still invisible from the web via ip. He is able to use Teamviewer effectively if anyone wants to assist using that route.
