SavellM
Hi all, I'm about to roll a new unRAID server, and with ZFS I am wondering if its better to format the drives as ZFS or maybe BTRFS or something else? I dont want to use ZFS as it is (in a ZRAID), as it doesnt make sense for me for my home server, but would ZFS still be the best drive format to use? Basically I want normal unRAID, different sized drives, and so on. Also other than the best drive format, anything else I should know for a new start in 2023? Quote Link to comment
itimpi
At the moment the performance of ZFS when used in the main array is worse than the other options for file system type. Not sure when/if a fix for this will be available. Quote Link to comment

Are there any good tuning settings to adjust nowadays? Quote Link to comment
Gragorg
I think you will find most on here have used XFS for array drives as it is more robust against corruption. It does however lack some of the modern features of other newer file systems. BTRFS can detect bitrot but can't really do much too much to fix it. Quote Link to comment
