RxLord
tower-diagnostics-20240212-2157.zip I'm having issues with both of my servers and docker services. If I run my system in NAS mode (Docker and VM disabled) it runs fine. As soon as I fire up my docker service the system becomes unresponsive and I have to hard reset the system. Looking for some help. Thanks in advance. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
The syslog in the diagnostics is the RAM version that starts afresh every time the system is booted. You should enable the syslog server (probably with the option to Mirror to Flash set) to get a syslog that survives a reboot so we can see what leads up to a crash. The mirror to flash option is the easiest to set up, but if you are worried about excessive wear on the flash drive you can put your server's address into the remote server field. RxLord
Thank you good Sir. I will do this and after my parity rebuild is done. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
Where will this syslog file be located? Quote Link to comment
RxLord
syslog-previoussyslog Here are my previous 2 syslog files. Thanks Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
There are multiple call traces logged but cannot see what's causing them, one thing you can try is to boot the server in safe mode with all docker/VMs disabled, let it run as a basic NAS for a few days, if it still crashes it's likely a hardware problem, if it doesn't start turning on the other services one by one. RxLord
I have done that. I deleted my docker image and are in the process of rebuilding a new image with all my containers. It's related to docker. Could it be when I download previous containers info from community applications stored on the usb maybe being corrupted? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's possible but not very likely, it could just be a specific container causing issues, it's been known to happen with Plex and others. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
I'm reading reports of macvlan vs ipvlan issues. Do you think it could be this? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
When macvlan is the problem it usually leaves macvlan call traces logged, but if you are still using it it's worth a try changing to ipvlan, make sure to reboot after the change. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
Just tried to install official Plex Media Server app. I shut down my docker service making me have to restart the server. Attach is the syslog. Thanks for your help. syslog Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Syslog is just after a reboot, what is the issue it was having at this time? Quote Link to comment
RxLord
I installed the official plex media server app. I literally shut down my docker service. Couldn't turn it back on under the settings. Had to reboot the system. I'm guessing you needed the previous syslog-previous?syslog-previou I only set up to save 2 syslog. Gonna enable a couple more because this one is gonzo. My system has frozen up again (no plex docker this time). Attached is the syslog-revious file. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
Also, now my docker settings are change. 1. Enable docker - changed to No. Was yes before. 2. Docker vDisk size changed to 20gb - was 30gb before. 3.Docker custom network type changed to macvlan - was on ipvlan. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
Just updated to Unraid 6.12.8. Tried to install the official Plex Media Server from plex and it crashed my Docker. syslog-previous Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
There are segfaults and multiple call traces logged, suggest starting by running memtest. Quote Link to comment
RxLord
Running Memtest86+. Test is still running and I have a lot of errors. This is the first time I have had error on a Memtest. I currently have 4 x 16gb sticks. Do I need to remove 3 and start with 1 and run the test again. Adding one stick at time to find the cuprite? Quote Link to comment

RxLord
Will the Memtest send a log file to review on the unraid usb? Quote Link to comment

RxLord
I have tested all stick independently and they all pass. Do this mean it is most likely a motherboard memory slot issue? Quote Link to comment

Not necessarily - it can be just the case that when all of them are plugged in the motherboard controller cannot handle the load of the total throughput required. This is one of the reasons many motherboards quote a smaller maximum RAM clock speed if all RAM slots are populated. Have you checked both the motherboard manual and the CPU spec to see if either of these imposes such a limit? Quote Link to comment
