Multimedia server??

Hi all! I've recently signed up for the forum but I've been following it a few months as a guest.

I'm riding a media server. Now I have the components ok. The server works great.

I was using version 4.7, but I needed something like TonkyMedia. I go to the 5.0 beta 12a. (I think that). TonkyMedia and works but  is not free.

I have tried MediaTomb, which will manage well, but will not let me view the files online.

I tried with Ps3media, but not know why when I go to ip: port empty out the web.

After all this time I look and look, I see myself in the situation to the next question.

Does anyone know of something like TonkyMedia but non-payment?

And if your answer is yes I can do How to install on the server?

Thank you all.

If Twonky media server works well and does what you want, I'd just buy it, it's only $20. You spend this much on hardware, you could end up spending hours trrying to get something else to do what you want for free.

Hello and thanks for your answer Josh.

You're right but I need to find some free. I'm doing a project for school with unRAID. The project is to create a linux media server with free software.

I was thinking of using ubuntu, debian or linux mint to create a media server but I found unRAID and I really liked the system. But now I encounter the problem of finding something like Twonky Ajaxexplorer or average but free.

These are the reasons for insisting on two questions:

Does anyone know of something like TonkyMedia but non-payment?

And if your answer is yes I can do How to install on the server?

Thank you all

....I do not quite understand, What exactly is the feature you need?

Mediatomb has a Web-UI to manage the files.

Once a file is added, you can simply download/access it from within the UI via Browser (which will need a plugin to play the media, of course)

I hope to explain myself better now.

I need some way of playing video files, music, photos via web, but I need to be free.

I will connect to the server with a Linux or Windows systems.

Forgive me for my bad English. thanks

by "the web" I assume you mean accessing the data while you are NOT on your home/local network?

If that is the case then you can look into VPN, which can be set up so you can access your network like you were sitting at home.

Hello. When I say " by the web"  mean to stream video and music. As with TwonkyMedia.

Thank you.

I can stream my video and music with PLEX, simple and easy.

Thanks for your answer. Is there any manual for dummies or step by step guide? Thanks again.
