June 16, 20242 yr Community Expert According to the screenshot the disk is not clearing, it's rebuilding, just to confirm, did that disk have any data or not?
June 16, 20242 yr Author No, it did not have any data on it. This is how the array looks right now. Edited June 16, 20242 yr by Denyson

You should now be able to format the drive to create an empty file system and make it ready to receive files. When you do the format make sure that is the only drive listed as ready to be formatted to avoid accidentally formatting any other drive.
June 17, 20242 yr Author I've set up the new drive and it's ready to go! How does Unraid handle data intake into that new drive? Is there any kind of balance operation that I need to do? Does the process happen automatically over time? Also, is there a way to ensure all drives in my array have an equal amount of data, so one drive isn't overfilled while another is almost empty? June 17, 20242 yr Community Expert The drive allocation is controlled by the share settings, that will decide which drive it will use for new writes, and Unraid never moves the data from disk to disk once it's written, assuming you are using the default high water, next writes should go to the new disk.
June 17, 20242 yr Author Got it! I have the allocation method set for most free. I appreciate all the assistance I received, and I'm glad everything seems to be working smoothly. I'll do some additional research on the allocation method. Thanks again, everyone! I hope this thread will serve as a helpful resource for others who may encounter similar questions in the future.
