January 9, 201214 yr Is there an unlocked core? Format a new flash (or backup and format the current one) and make a clean install. Try the pre-clear on the clean system.
January 9, 201214 yr Author So I'm back to (what looks like) a stable system. I rolled back to beta 6a, and the system has been up without a problem for 5 hours, approximately 10x longer than it was under beta 14 after the hard drive troubles. I'm rebuilding the array right now with the new hard disk, which is going well. I'll post back tomorrow when it's done. Meanwhile, I find it very odd that 6a works just fine when 14 was reporting what seemed to be hardware issues beyond those of the hard drive, AND was crashing the server every few minutes...
January 11, 201214 yr Author 2 days later, and not a single crash running 6a. I'm more than a little concerned that 14 seemed so unstable, bringing my entire system down within 10 minutes, when, after downgrading, the server is once again rock solid. I'll be sticking with 6a for the foreseeable future, it seems.

Please include a complete system breakdown along with a syslog from b14 and a syslog from beta6a
