mmjaberi
Hi everyone, I recently updated the BIOS on my ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO motherboard to version 2301. Since the update, my Unraid server hangs during the boot process and does not proceed further. The server was functioning perfectly for more than a year before this BIOS update. I've tried the following troubleshooting steps to fix this: Checked BIOS Settings. Reset BIOS to Default Settings. Re-flashed BIOS. Checked Boot Device Order. Created a New Unraid Boot USB. However, after trying all of those steps still couldn't get unraid boot and it still hangs as the attached picture shows. Has anyone encountered a similar issue with the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO and BIOS version 2301? Are there any specific BIOS settings or configurations known to resolve this issue? Any other suggestions or troubleshooting steps I might have missed? Thank you in advance for your help! Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Try booting with a different flash drive using a stock install, no key needed, to confirm the issue is really the board, not the current flash. Quote Link to comment

Thanks @JorgeB for the advise. I tried what you've mentioned but that didn't work also. I ended up to the same issue again. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
That suggests the board (or a BIOS setting) is the problem. Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
See if you can downgrade the BIOS, or use a different board. Quote Link to comment
Arbadacarba
Any chance you have multiple video outputs on the system? I have weird flopping back and forth between my integrated video and my external GPU... Also I have (After updating my BIOS) s freeze if I try to use GUI mode... which may be connected.
