What is your preview context set to for the folders where clicking the container icon doesn’t work? It should be default or advanced.

ok that fixed it.. the ones not working were set to none.

if you create new folders it goes to none not default

so ever new folder i create it goes to none not default..

but setting it to default or advanced fixed it... didnt know this option

so wonder why some are default then? was it default in a previous version or changed from 7.2.5 to 7.3.0?

Most default settings are set to off.

You can configure your own defaults on the plugin settings page.

ah ok i set it.. i wonder if its because i came orginally from v2 or the v3 plus but didnt like the plus and liked the v3 which was like v2 that is defunct...

least its backup and working.. i appreciate your help as i didnt know what was wrong lol

It is possible! It has felt like a long time since i used FolderView2 so I can’t be sure.

ya i started using v3 like 2 months ago when the one unraid upgrade said v2 is no longer supported you need to goto v3.. and when i did that there was plus also and it also messed things up when i had both installed so i removed the plus

ya i got 1 more question i looked in the default settings... but didnt help

everytime i create a folder it adds to the top but is there a way to reset the folder order by alphabetical order so if i do !!test it go before A or B as i as i got M before I so is there a button or something that says reset the order to alphabetical? as i didnt see one but i probably missed it

No automatic ordering of folders sorry.

I’ve left this as user defined because the order of your folders impacts your container autostart order.

Just unlock the docker page and re-arrange your folders however you like.

i thought the autostart order was just based on the wait: it offers and everything else starts all at the time time?

i cant find this unlock docker page i googled they talk about a padlock but only thing on docker page is a reset order beside Application word and i checked under settings/dockers but nothing there either

is there a text file i can just edit the order that be quicker

There’s a green or red padlock button on the docker page. If you’re on a PC, it’ll be the top right of the docker page. This is standard Unraid.

Click that so it’s red/unlocked and then drag the folders to create the order you want just like you would if FolderView isn’t installed.

The autostart order, without the FolderView plugin installed, is your container order from top to bottom. (And then the wait time comes in there too).

I’ve got a graphic in my first post that explains how the autostart order works with FolderView 3.

as for this green or red padlock i dont have it all i got top right is Basic/Advanced Toggle mode button nothing else there

and ill take a look at this graphic learn something new everyday.. i figured the wait was just wait after everything else is starting

maybe mine is not enabled? maybe i gotta enable it from a different location?

oh i see it now its green same color as my background it doesnt show up right lol

ya oh came up with a new problem lol

so when i re organized them but when install a new application it adds it to the bottom of the list and so are the folders now get added to the bottom of the page.. where they would be added at top

i did try unlock that pad lock and clicking the button Reset Order beside application but nothing happens

when you do the manual order with folderviews does that mean it can no longer alphabetical the applications that are not in a folder

What is this “reset order” button on the docker page?

If you add containers you’ll need to sort them unless you have a folder setup for regex matching.

ah ok so once you unlock the docker page and move folders around it buggers up newly installed applications then by adding A after W

as i figured once i organized the Folders and re locked it... that when i install a new application it would go in alphabetical order again so A would go under the last Folder view but not at the bottom of the page

and reset order is beside application but it doesnt reset my order i cant get A to go back up on its own

here it adds the folders to the bottom of the screen now i figured once i locked it would re add the folders to the top guessing not

i wonder if using the folderview buggers up the reset order id have to test on a spare machine as i just got the folders way i want them

not a total big deal as ill probably move everything into folders just something i saw now

Never in my life have I used that reset order button and I don’t have access to a PC right now so I can’t see its proper behaviour.

But I’ll say it again, there is no automatic sorting for newly installed containers or newly created folders.

When you install a new container you need to manually place it where you want it to go.

no thats not true before i did the unlock and moved

all containers are sorted by alphabetical order

so all apps are sorted properly

here is a my one server its a virgin of the folderview and the unlock/lock pad lock i didnt install them in alphabetical order nore moved them just random installed as i go

you see the authelia i installed that like 10 min ago and you can see it goes in order... so its in alphabetical order when you dont touch it...

so i tested it on my virgin server

so if i re arrange the orders of all the names... lock it refresh stays locked when i unlock and hit the reset order then it resets it back to alphabetical...

stupid ms one drive not working was able to to make couple videos

but the testing i did

1.. virgin server you can scramble the order and click reset order it resets back to alphabetical order

2.. with folderview installed and make a few folders when you add a new application it puts that application in alphabetical order.

3.. with folder view installed and you move the folders in alphabetical order... and you install a new application it adds it to the bottom of the screen and folder views get added to the bottom of the screen.. the folder views no longer get added at the top of the screen..

4.. with folder view installed and you just add folders they get added at the top of the screen thats without touching the order just leaving it.

so seems there is a flag or something that stops the order or placing the folder views at the top of the screen but to the bottom once you manually re organize the folders themselves

It would seem we have been teaching each other about Unraid! I've learnt alot looking up what reset order is meant to do and why FolderView breaks its functionality.

I've got a fix for you that I'll be pushing to beta, when I'm ready I'll PM you a link and I would love it if you were able to install it and test it.

i didnt think i could teach anything lol

ya sure send when you got a pre release and i can test for ya.. i not no expert just your average joe lol

least my kids dont think i smart at anything lol
