June 28Jun 28 Hi,I activated a trial licence with 7.3.1 and it has about a week left. To test if I'd had more luck with what I'm trying to do I downgraded to 7.2.7 and now the system is complaining of GUID mismatch, even tho the flash drive is the same. What is the correct way to go about this so I can get back to testing?
June 28Jun 28 Community Expert Possibly it was using the TPM for the GUID, and if that's the case, it's not supported by 7.2, you could start a new trial with 7.2.
June 28Jun 28 Author it cannot be TPM. everything is contained within the flashdrive. And I cannot start a new trial because its throwing "GUID '<snip>-C391B939D633' is already registered to another user"

If you're going to be purchasing a license anyway it's worth starting with a quality drive rather than whatever's convenient. There's a time-sensitive opportunity just below this thread that's directly relevant: "PSA on industrial MLC..."
Monday at 07:08 AM5 days Community Expert If it starts with 01- it's TPM, if it starts with a XXX-XXXX format, it's the flash drive, the latter should allow downgrading.
Monday at 07:54 AM5 days Author I have used a quality drive. Its a Kingston DT SE9 2.0 which were recommended on these forums years ago, AFAIR.GUID format is 09XX-XXXX-XXXX-C391B939D633. Surely its flash based.I would like the trial that should still be active back. Buying a licence doesn't seem like a fix when something went very wrong. No matter what I do, I cannot get past it complaining about invalid installation. Edited Monday at 08:01 AM5 days by Ver7o
Monday at 08:15 AM5 days Author I think the issue is that when I downgraded Unraid from that shiny, unneccessary, 1000 redirects unraid account page I have not noticed that I was logged in with my main account, not the trial account. Upon booting back up the licence was then invalid because it somehow got reassigned to a different email then initially used.Hence the complaining that the GUID is registered to another user.Could this have happened?

I would suggest to contact support.

Two years later I discovered greenish corrosion appearing inside the metal housing near the USB connector. Running ChipGenius on it revealed a FirstChip controller -- a controller never used in genuine Kingston DT SE9 production. It was a counterfeit that had a unique GUID and passed every casual inspection.A unique GUID by itself is not confirmation of a genuine drive. Counterfeits can and do register unique GUIDs.Worth running ChipGenius or Flash Drive Information Extractor on your drive to confirm what's actually inside. Genuine DT SE9 drives used Phison or Silicon Motion controllers depending on production era -- anything else warrants investigation. And if you do end up needing a replacement for the trial or eventually for a purchased license -- there's a PSA just below this thread covering what's currently available that goes significantly beyond the 2022 recommendations.

Monday at 09:37 AM5 days How did you downgrade? If you erased the flash drive and did a clean install from the usb creator you should put the Trial.key that got while you were on 7.3.1 back into the config folder.

Tools - Downgrade OS - redirect to unraid account and from there you confirm the downgrade. No manual changes were made to the flash drive.4 hours ago, JorgeB said:If you are logged in with a different account, you cannot use the same trial; you must use the same account that was used to create the trial. The trial account is now complaining that the GUID belongs to a different account. The issue seems that nothing is stopping you or alerting you that current licence is not matched to the current account before performing a downgrade. I'm speculating here, ofcourse, but this seems like the most likely failure mode that got me locked out.I do not remember relogging from my main account, which I keep logged in, to the trial account or any alert that there is a potential mismatch before downgrading.I opened a ticket with LT because this is just silly.
