Can I still find 2TB green drives?

Featured Replies

I have 2 available spot on my Unraid 4.7, and need more space..So I would like to add 2 x 2TB drives

I don't want to switch to a beta version to use 3TB drives. My current 4.7 server works very good, and 4TB additional will be plenty enough for a while

But looks like those drives are hard to find !!! Any good links for 2TB green drives?

Come to the Philippines - most drives stocked on the shelf are still 500GB, with 1TB starting to creep in.  Anything bigger has to be a special order.

Newegg.com shows 4 different 2T Green drives. However, how can anyone provide useful links since you didn't tell where you live.

Arghhh..............sorry about that  ;D

I live in the USA (Detroit area, Michigan)

If you don't want to go mail order, Best Buy shows plenty of WD 2 TB Green drives at most of their stores in the Detroit area.  I don't think you'll have much trouble finding 2 TB drives, just maybe not every brick and mortar location will have them in stock.

Yeah, but it seems that the Green one (5,400 or 5,900 rpm) are hard to find nowadays  :-[

You can always go red!  8)

you know ... yesterday i had one disk missing when i brought up the server ... i rebooted and everything was fine, haven't run parity yet, but it definitely looks like the disk is failing.

since it's 2tb x 20 unraid array ... i'm wondering how to proceed as far as the future goes. do i:

a) stock a couple 2tb for when the disks in the array start failing

b) upgrade to higher capacity disks right away (3tb o 4tb)

i'm considering waiting for 4tb becoming affordable and gradually convert my 2tb x 20 to a 4tb x 20  :o

Good question... I ended up buying a couple of 2 tb greens while they were on sale to keep as spares.  it hurts me physically that this capacity is not in use, but if i lose a drive in my array, i will be ready to replace.
