Which CPU?

Featured Replies

I need it for my Asrock Fatal1ty Z68 motherboard. I am looking at the i3 or the Gxxx/Gxxxx.

But which one?

What are you gonna do with it?

Just stream bluray rips from the server to my media player. I don't use plugins.

...the smallest Gxxx (or the cheapest) is more than sufficent.

Even an ATOM can serve up to GB-NIC speed.

Do you have the RAM already?...in that case, I'd go for the Gxx which matches best for it.

I don't think the Atom would be powerful enough to run the stuff I have. I think I will go for a Gxxxxxx

Would a g2120 be ok?

Would a g2120 be ok?

For pure streaming purposes (I presume no re-encoding) your CPU won't be the limiting factor. This will be your disk I/O system.

Pretty much any modern CPU will be fine if you are just running stock unraid.

I decided to get a g530. This should be a bit more stronger and more energy efficient than the amd.
