question to other guys wich compiling xbmc-server:

do you use for get source xbmc: git clone https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git ???

because if after that you dont make

git checkout Frodo

you will be have Gotham version ;)

yea, i checked out with frodo 12.2 :)

i am also wondering, what configuration did you use when compiling? there are a lot of things that can be disabled and some that cannot. soon i will start testing it to disable or remove more unneeded things to get it to run with less memory. for instance, the latest one i have still has bluetooth support, which i'm sure i can remove when i get the time.

Although I haven't had any issue related to using 13.37 packages on UnRAID. I did notice most of the packages in Influencer's plug-ins use 13.37 packages.

yeep but some package are depended of glibc ;) from slackware 13.1 and other deep libs in system, other not

most packages used in Influencers's plugin from 13.37 are not depending of main libs in system so work stand-alone - then yes you can use from higher version

of slackware - anyway if you want keep full compatibility better recompile packages under 13.1

few post before you have examples what heppens with system if you to much replace from 13.37 ;)

then even some service in system crash ;) like mover, cron etc.

I have some expirence when i compile Transmission - there was depends "openldap-client"

if you just use this package from slackware 13.37 then you get segfaults

That why other and Influencer use in plugin version from slackware 13.1

<FILE Name="/boot/packages/openldap-client-2.4.21-i486-1.txz" Run="upgradepkg --install-new">
<URL>http://slackware.oregonstate.edu//slackware-13.1/slackware/n/openldap-client-2.4.21-i486-1.txz</URL>

anyway im recompile this packages under 13.1 - and have latest openldap-client-2.4.34-i686-1PTr full workin with transmission

Smillar problems for sure will be with xbmc-server

Right. I can't have CRON giving me segfaults. That would not fly well with the rest of the community either I don't think.

I will wait for the new version you have coming bobbintb.

well i just posted a beta version to get more testers:

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=27545.0

it seems fairly stable, but i dont do cron jobs and such. i already posted it before i started reading piotrasd's posts so i will leave it and try to keep most of the discussion on that post. but i still want to get the properly compiled version in there.

piotrasd, since you are already working that, i would love to join forces.

delate glibc from 13.37 in your plugin - this cannot you install ! in unraid (this making segfaults)

Im already upload packed my xbmc-server version - please test it

My compilation XBMC-server for unraid + some packages recompiled

https://truck.it/p/YkeZ6fDu1A (cannot use with glibc-2.13-i486-4.txz - my version work with unraid version 2.11.1)

I dont have time to test - so please raport me problems, later i try recompile more depend packages for unraid

(im pretty sure the cron and other segfault dont will exist )

Okay, you posted while I was typing my reply, but I'll let it stand as is:

Indeed, it's not clear what you hope to achieve by running xbmc on the server.

I run OpenELEC media boxes - all the movies, the database, the thumbnails etc. are all stored on a shared central resource on the unRAID server - I even boot from unRAID via PXE (network) boot.

My OpenELEC boxes don't have any local storage - no drives, not even a flash drive.  If I perform a library update, the library is automatically updated for all boxes.  Sometimes I will perform a library update without turning a TV on, by running XBMC on a desktop computer.  If I stop watching a movie, part way through, on one box, I can go to another one and it will automatically continue from where I stopped on the first box.

My boxes are running the same hardware, so if I update the OpenELEC version on the server, all boxes are updated automatically.

So, the question, again, is: What are you trying to achieve - anything I cannot do?

Thanks Peter

This is exactly what I want to acheive, can you tell me do you use a my sql database on your unraid server or do you not need to as your running all the openelec boxes via network boot, also do you have much of a delay in the cover art loading via the network.
