May 8, 201313 yr Tom -- In another thread, you made the following comment: Basic will support 3 drives with no other restrictions I'm not personally interested in such a limited system, but am curious if that means the Basic version will now support a cache drive. e.g. can a free v5 system have a parity drive, one data drive, and a cache drive?
May 8, 201313 yr Author One other question: The NIFTY (Looks GREAT) new server product shown on the new web page includes this comment: "... Our latest unRAID Server release supports several advanced features including a cache pool." Does that mean cache pools will be included in V5 "Final" ?? ... or is that being pushed back to a 5.x release and the ad for the new server just hasn't been updated?
May 8, 201313 yr I wonder whether, as so often happens in this industry, the new server will be be sold initially with the promise of new features to be added later?
May 8, 201313 yr I wonder whether, as so often happens in this industry, the new server will be be sold initially with the promise of new features to be added later? lets hope that is the case, that way any new customers can be just as inconvenienced as the existing ones. The alternative is that it is introduced now and the existing customers are more inconvenienced as we wait even longer for a stable release.

May 8, 201313 yr Author Very helpful, constructive post. Yes, I noticed that as well. I had hoped this thread would simply get ONE response -- e.g. an answer from Tom -- but it's likely to completely escape his notice as it grows with unnecessary (and in this case very negative) criticisms/flames.

The phrase "no other restrictions" means there are no other restrictions, so the explicit answer to your question would be "yes".
May 8, 201313 yr Author Thanks Tom. I assumed as much, but just wanted to be sure the cache drive wasn't a "special case"
