December 1, 201312 yr I've extracted most of the content of this post via Google Cache, here is a .zip file with the content for anyone that was halfway through following the guide, as that would truly suck http://goo.gl/2pT9w3 If Tom or any of the mods think this is a bad idea, by all means, edit my post.. however people can get it from google cache anyway, hopefully this is seen as just trying to help
December 1, 201312 yr Good work BQ. I can't see how it would be a bad idea. As with any default terms and conditions of most forum software, ownership of the content belongs to the forum, not the individual once it has been posted.

December 1, 201312 yr Someone needs to update Tom with all kernel settings for Virtualizing , if you only ask, nothing is going to happen. //Peter
December 2, 201312 yr ddeeds, I registered for the forum expressly to post this. Being fairly new to unRAID very new to virtualization, I found the guides you posted fantastic. Based on your posting I am going the Xensever route. You're a born teacher - very knowledgeable and able to concisely lay out guides etc. Also, the community here was very enriched by your postings. My unraid box has just been transplanted into one of the TAM Solution servers (which I upgraded a bit) and I was midway through your guide (getting into the hardware pass through stuff). Thankfully I have been able to piece things back together through some of the backups of postings and my download of your custom kernels etc. I would just ask that you try to be the bigger man here and make peace and don't pull the rug out from other kindred home server enthusiasts. I would be up to donating to you and Tom, to get you together to support the virtualization stuff, as I think it is the best of both worlds. I'd rather run my applications server stuff on a separate guest that is easy to maintain and leave unraid to do what it does best. Thanks, Chris

December 9, 201312 yr Really wish these instructions were available. Paid for an UnRAID Pro license and what I wanted to do in ESXI doesn't seem possible despite many hours of effort.

December 9, 201312 yr ironicbadger: I really want to follow your guide from A to Z as I have attempted to setup the following using ESXI 5.1 (5.5 was PSODland) but I worry that once I set it up, if ever I need to "fix" something, I won't have the knowledge to as my linux command line knowledge is severely lacking hence trying my hand with XenCenter. Want your identical setup (more or less) along with pfSense. You seem to mention passing through one of the NICs for pfSense but on your blog you don't mention how you set up pfSense. I instead opted for XenCenter and managed to setup both pfSense and unRAID cobbling together a VMDK file I had for ESXI for unRAID and some passthrough instructions I found. pfSense is also running fine after applying the E1000 fix. Hopefully I can get up and running a Linux VM for SABnzbd, Sickbeard, Coachpotato, Dropbox and PMS and finally another Linux instance for Plex Media Center (the reason for not using ESXI due to passthrough issues for the onboard VGA on my DQ77KB).

Sorry but I'm very busy with work right now and just don't have the spare time to write up a guide. I will one day. But don't count on it anytime soon. I'm flat out. Sorry!
